You bring up news coverage of 9/11 as if the media was going to ignore it since it's not something people would like. You've taken my comments to the extreme in an attempt to make them look absurd. Nice distraction.

In fact I have seen many stories in the mainstream media mention that to date no weapons of mass destruction have been found in Iraq. So its not like the media has put a gag order on saying it or something. I have in fact seen quite a few news programs on mainstream channels (like CNN or CBS) that have shown that Afganistan is no better then before, or that pre-war information about Iraq was skewed, and even one on memorial day that questioned why Americans are dying in a war based on such thin reasoning. The difference is that I was willing to listen.

Not to mention the ridiculous amount of information available to people who are willing to make a very modest effort to find it. We live in the information age, yet people just want it spoon fed to them thru one or two tv stations. The information is easy to find for those who bother asking questions.

Businessmen and soccer moms rioting in the streets? Again you're stretching it to the extreme in order to make it look absurd (the religious wrong loves doing that with gay issues ya know.) But how many people really make phone calls or write letters to their represenatives on issues that are important to them? Most people can't even be bothered to vote once every 4 years!! Some that do vote base their decision on which candidate has a better personality instead of where they stand on the issues! When a budget surplus becomes a record deficit while millions lose their jobs and millions more go without health care (we're about the only industrialized nation in the world that still doesn't have public health care) and schools are laying off teachers and closing early and the president sends us into one war after another while never getting the one guy we're supposed to get, and our tax dollars are being handed to churches by the millions and millionaires get thousands in deductions...why aren't people raising their voices? These are not secrets that require security clearance from the pentagon. This is information that is easily found. But not easily enough for most. It would require a search engine or opening past the front page of the newspaper. Some people on this board may think I'm some kind of news guru, but I'm just an average 25yo who has opened a few books on the shelf at the library and Borders and punched up a couple easy to find media websites. It's all there for anybody who cares enough to ask.

People say we're such a great country because we elect our leaders...but most don't vote.

People say we're such a great country because we have so much freedom...but most say we have too much freedom.

People say we're invading muslim countries to stop terrorism...but how any educated or intelligent person can believe that is beyond me, no matter who repeats it.

History repeats itself and this time is no exception. Someday, after things have gotten much worse before they get better, people may ask themselves how our country ended up in such a situation? And no doubt the historians will blame leaders and policies and lies and bad decisions...but I doubt anybody will bother to learn the lesson to do something about it...to think...to question...to vote.
