Subject: 1) A Miss California alumnae fund soliciting donations from former contestants, including a formers reception and/or lunch during pageant week. In Washington, former Miss WA's have their own organization, independent of the state pageant org., which holds a fund raiser during pageant week, and other activities, and contributes thousands of dollars in scholarships and additional prizes to the new Miss WA every years. 2) An active program soliciting corporate scholarship donors - e.g., corporations like Wells Fargo, the major public utilities, Clorox, Levi Strauss, Macy's, Disney, Silicon Valley firms. This would require a volunteer to coordinate the whole thing, and willing formers (Miis CAs and local titleholders) to make personal presentations to the corporate philanthropy people at these companies. For these companies, the economy is not as "down" as people think, or as you may be experiencing with local businesses. I have a few other ideas, but those are two of the main ones.

The Miss California Organization needs to get their act together and figure out how to compete with all the smaller states. We have 1/10 of the nations population here in California so we need to be the power house of pageants. We have to rework the Teen program on a quick pace so that we can send a teen to Florida that will be competitive this year. It feels like the higher powers have their own agendas not the organization as a whole in mind. We loose great volunteers due to the poor management and dishonest people involved. I felt being at the MAOT pageant this year we are not well respected. Lets figure it out!!!!

Anything different are state choices and due to state choices, some are denied their scholarships, even after bringing in the ad money that pays thier scholarships in the first place!

Aside from student loans what if a local is held after 2nd semester tuition due and paid by titleholder credit card? If trying to award scholarships, then remove obstacles and pay the scholarship to the college financial office, they in turn will reimburse the credit card.
