Ravin was about to toss a few exploding pellets at the person that came flying through the bushes, but held back when he discovered it was Erlic. "Get her to safety, Ravin," the guildmaster said, before rushing off to pursue an assassin.

The thief glanced down at Laurel, who mumbled that she was well enough to walk now. Only after getting to his feet, did Ravin remember his state of undress. He snapped off a large leaf from a tree branch, covering himself with it before hurrying to his pile of belongings. Worry about the presence of assassins made him dress so quickly he ended up wearing his shirt inside out without even being aware of it. He shoved the remaining pellets into the pocket of his pants, palmed a dagger then beckoned Laurel forward. Both scanned the area for any signs of the Slayers as they walked along. At least the lightening bolts had stopped raining down on them, and the wind was calm once again. A number of trees were ablaze, adding to the oppressive heat in the area from the sun, which now marked the time as noon.

Ravin tensed when he saw an injured assassin readying his sword to impale an unconscious Argus. Quickly, the thief released his throwing knife. The blade sunk into the assassin's brain through his right eye, killing him instantly. Ravin and Laurel ran forward once the assassin fell to the ground. As the thief pulled his knife from the dead body, he wondered why his empathy hadn't picked up any fear or agony coming from the man before he drew his last breath. Perhaps he was ready for death, and welcomed it.

After wiping off his bloody knife on the assassin's cloak, he turned to Laurel, who was examining Argus. "He's alive," she told him. Ravin sheathed his knife then hefted the man over his shoulder. Years of climbing and carrying heavy sacks laden with stolen goods gave him the upper body strength needed to carry someone like Argus with relative ease. He kept a firm grip on the man's leg with one hand and withdrew his dagger again with the other.

They moved forward, reaching Isobel and Barry a short time later. "That's two," Ravin said when he saw the body of the assassin, wearing an upside down nose. "Hopefully, Erlic is taking care of the last one." A frown crossed his face when he noticed the blood covering Isobel's leg. "Can you walk?" When she nodded, he suggested they return to the campfire where, presumably, Val would be waiting to tend to the injured.

With Barry scouting out the area ahead of them, they slowly made their way out of the copse of tress, safely arriving at the campfire a few minutes later. Ravin set Argus down near Val, who hovered over a bloody faced Marz, along with Tristan. The thief let out a low whistle when he glanced around and saw the massive destruction in the area.

"What the hell caused all of this?" he asked to no one in particular. Surely, the spell Laurel had cast earlier couldn't have done such damage, could it? He shook his head, sensing that a druid would never think to destroy trees and other vegetation needlessly. When he spotted a headless corpse lying nearly he went over to investigate it. Judging by the clothing and the items the man carried, he was another assassin.

"We think the coast is clear," Tia shouted, as she ran up to the camp with Rowan beside her. "We checked the area around the pool and found only dead assassins. Erlic met up with us right after he killed one, and told us to get back to camp so here we are!" Tia sheathed her weapon and straightened her clothing that she had tossed on haphazardly when Ravin had shouted his warning. She squeezed her hair out then decided to put a pot of water on the fire to boil. No doubt, Val would need it to mix his herbal concoctions.

Ravin moved away from the beheaded body and took a seat on the thick trunk of the tree that had nearly fallen on Saras and the others. He smirked when he saw the Jann standing in a circle around their Sheik with weapons drawn and ready to kill anything that might threaten him. Justin stood nearby as well, keeping guard over Alakbar. A number of centaurs milled around, eyeing the destruction with fear. Although many shed tears, Ravin didn't know they were crying over the deaths of their two brethren who had exploded, since he hadn't been around to see that happen.

A female centaur approached Val, handing him a bucket of water. The healer dipped a few cloths into it then set them on Marz's forehead, chest, and arms before he turned to examine Argus. Ravin glanced from Saras to Marz, wondering if they had been hit by lightening bolts.

He reached down to retrieve his ale flask and took a long drink. Afterwards, he found himself yawning. No one had much sleep the night before and the events of this morning were enough to tire anyone out. After rubbing at his tired eyes, he got up and moved to sit beside Isobel. He offered her a smaller flask that contained strong whiskey. "A few sips of that might help ease the pain in your leg until Val has a chance to take care of it."
