Subject: The most annoying commercial in Philly talk show history?

My nomination would go to the series of "Dr. Desert Dry" commercials that were foisted on the listener. I went through various stages listening to them. Alas, I learned to eventually live with them but then again, I lived with my ex probably 5 years longer than I should have and that was pretty hard to take as well.

[> The singing in Desert Dry was definitely stomach-wrenching, but my vote for worst commercials overall are any that claim to 'promote' or 'support' any aspect of your health. BULLS**T! Period. Sped-up, digitally chopped lawyer voices at the end of car and other ads come in a close second. -- Tilde, 22:54:15 01/14/03 Tue

[> [> You are on the mark. The late Dr. Corea's show was a monument to that type of mindless witch doctor inspired panacea for what ails one. Lawyers, what can one say? The hatred of them goes back to Shakespeare and the Bible. -- Freddy, 12:13:06 01/15/03 Wed

[> [> I have to nominate two commercials, since they are equally wretching. At the top of my list is the Sherwin-Williams girl. God, how much more of an affectation can that chick put on? Number two is the male and female voices of the Cumberland Farms spots. Or ,Cumby's as they affectionately refer to it. Can you imagine being trapped with either one of them in an elevator? I would pray for God to take me at that instant. -- Bill, 14:07:43 01/15/03 Wed

[> [> [> Not to disrupt, just curious as to why it was necessary to include that detail from your personal life in your criticism of radio programming. Add that to the mysterious motivation to listen to radio programs that you don't like, especially when there are literally hundreds of entertainment alternatives at one's disposal. Talk radio can't be *that* captivating, can it? -- Mark, 21:23:28 01/16/03 Thu

[> Annoying Commercial -- Captn Hank, 14:34:07 01/15/03 Wed

Listening to Rush at the present time. Just heard a commercial stating that Beck, was the "jam on your toast" in the morning following Imus. Give me a ****ing break!

F.C. Kerberck. They could offer me a high end Range Rover for $1.49 a month and I would tell them to shove it where the sun don't shine. I despise their commercials like poisen.

the Kerbeck commercials are annoying for sure. They are rivaled by the "no pressure, no hype" ads of Keystone motors. Who are they kidding?

The worst though are the long, long, looooooooong, info mercials pushing phoney "all natural" cures for everything. Theres is always an interviewer, a phoney doctor, and phoney testamonial calls. A dilly is for "Sea Silver" which cures everything they say. It contains a compound called colloidal silver which has the odd side effect of causeing skin to turn irreversibly blue or gray. A politician in Idaho recently withdrew from his election campaign because he turned blue from colloidal silver.
