Subject: UMass Recruit

The Sarasota Herald Tribune says that UMass has "signed" James Life, a JUCO All-American from Manatee CC. He is a 6'4" guard with "uncanny long-range shooting ability". He was last year's Suncoast Conference Player of the Year and averaged 25.4 points per game. He backed out of a verbal to Utah State after he visited UMass last week-end. He is quoted as saying, "Massachusetts will play Connecticut, Boston College and Florida State and be on ESPN at least five times. That wasn't going to happen at Utah State." He will have two years left to play for the Minutemen.

Since you're in new territory with your sad program you should be aware that duplicating last season's mediocre^H^H^H^H^H^H^Hsuccessful season, so-called, is going to be very tough now that the A10 knows they have to show up for a couple of minutes in order to beat you.
