Subject: Jo, a mc fan here. I like looking at your board because you guys have great passion, although sometimes over zealous.(arn't we all!) You are right on....BG is a great coach and we like what he has done, but he is all about himself and has the biggest ego of them all! If it wasn't for Bob Byrnes to keep him under control and in check, I don't know where we would be. Byrnes is the best AD in the land and that is who we cannot loose! Bobby will move on someday, but Byrnes all ready has a short list of suitable replacements. You have to remember, MC wins in the MAAC, not just in Basketball, but other s like baseball(No home field) Lax, Tennis(no courts) and so on by getting good coaches and making them better. BG would not be the coach he is today if he did not have Byrnes as a boss. Great to see DW and Fordham doing well and hope yo guys take the A-10 next year( you are just gonna lose the sat after turkey day to the Jaspers)
In reply to: JóDete93 's message, "That is very true and despite the rivalry I think many here would be ok with the guy were it not for the antics. As for last year the rumor I heard was that he was at the top of the list at Miami and then tried to use St. John's' interest in him as a way of speeding Miami into a decision and it backfired. Miami consulted with St. John's who said they were not planning on interviewing him and Miami basically told him to get lost. One of Gonzales' big problems seems to be honesty, not that that is necessarily rare in the sports world. Just recently he vowed his loyalty to Manhattan College and then in the last day or two it came out that he intreviewed with UMass just last week. That does not sit well with those at MC, but it also does not help him with his potential suitors. The man can coach and he can recruit, so something else is definitely not working for him." on Mon March 21, 2005 15:25:46
