Subject: That's a tall order, CLK.
In reply to: CLK 's message, "We also were going to play Portland but the deal fell through. Given the circumstance I would have gone with the D2 school as well. Switching gears, a friend of mine asked if TJ could be the next Bill Zoph. I thought about that, and although freshman were not eligible back then, and Bill was left handed, in one respect his hustle, leadership, and drive to win could be a comparison." on Monday, November 15, 06:17:08pm

As you know, but some of the younger folks around here may not, Bill Zopf made it to the NBA. As impressed as I am already with TJ, he hasn't played against a D-1 team yet. But I can surely see why people are getting excited about him.

TJ's shot release reminds me of BB's as it is lower than is usual. If TJ could have a comparable career to BB's I'd be pleased as punch.

As far as "hustle, leadership and drive to win" I certainly won't dispute you at this point. I'm reminded of that old saying, it's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog. TJ seems to have a whole lot of fight in him. I'm looking forward to his first dose of big time adversity on the floor as I think he's going to handle it superbly.

The court sense that I see already is remarkable. His hands are extremely quick. That combination can lead to the type of defense that is needed to play at the game's highest level. The only two Duquesne guards that I can recall with quicker hands were Norm Nixon and Mike James. Norm had the same level of court sense as TJ and Mike improved to that level. TJ isn't as strong physically as those guys yet, but I expect that to come with time.

It's awfully early and I was very, very skeptical of TJ until I saw him play in person. He has far exceeded my expectations as witnessed by the hyperbole above. I just hope it doesn't take him 4 years to reach the NCAA tournament like it did Norm.
