My problem is that I read a story on the game in my Sunday paper. I don't understand why I have to suffer through people crying about Pitt football on a DU hoops board. Pitt plays big time football, we don't. We're in two different worlds. This isn't the only board where I see this type of thing though. On the Pitt boards, I see fans with the same mentality, only they are jealous of the Steelers. I could see it if we were talking about basketball, even though I'd much rather take joy from Duquesne's success, as opposed to Pitt's failures. While I'll never be a Pitt hoops fan, I've gotten over any jealousy of them I might have. As far as football, I like the college game, and it's more fun when the three local teams are doing well. Since the success of those three teams has no effect on what Duquesne does, I have no problem rooting for them on Saturday. Does Pitt pay their players? Who knows. I know they paid them back in the 1970's, and guess what, we were paying ours too.

Here's where you're wrong duq81...if you read Marquis' post, it says nothing about Pitt football. It talks about the lack of coverage of Duquesne in comparison to schools of equal or lesser stature. You are the one who brought Pitt and WVU into this discussion, not Marquis. And personally, as an out of town fan, I still don't see a story in the on-line editions of either paper. - You're right on that. I probably blended this post into the one with all of the whining about Pitt. If folks on this board are looking for a legit axe to grind, I suggest they keep an eye on coverage of women's hoops. Our girls are at least as good as Pitt, and are coached by a local legend.   - For the record ... better said, IMHO ... there was no whining about Pitt. One poster took a good-natured poke and a couple (or perhaps one posting under mutliple aliases) humorless nerds took it upon themselves to disparage DU. And if they're disparaging DU, are they not also trashing the entire education system? And for that matter, the United States of America?
