Subject: Please keep in mind that there is almost always a transition period (usually up to 5 years) to get both their facilities and their scholarships up to league level.
In reply to: DuHope 's message, "I don't recall any BCS conferences inviting Boise St when it was non Division I. As for UConn what has it done for the Big Least? how many BCS bowl appearances? How many top 20 finishes? top 10? Is it bringing the conference up or holding it down? I think it worked out bad for the Big Least, good UConn." on Friday, September 10, 02:53:26pm

They were national 1-AA Champs in 1994. By 1999 (5 years), they won the Big West Championship and appeared in a Bowl Game. Two years later they went to the WAC and won that conference virtually every year since. Those bowl games bring a LOT of money to their conference.
UConn started the process in 1999 and officially joined to Big East in 2004 and beat Pitt 3 weeks later ending with a 7-4 record and I believe by 2007 won the conference championship. They appeared i bowl games each year.
