NEWARK, Del. -- The University of Delaware dominated both sides of scrimmage, piling up 257 yards behind the running of freshman tailback Andrew Pierce and holding South Dakota State to just 25 yards on the ground as the No. 16 Blue Hens posted an impressive 26-3 non-league football victory over the No. 9 Jackrabbits Saturday afternoon at sun-drenched Delaware Stadium.

This is probably the best team we have played since we were playing at the major college level. Delaware is a real FCS team. I don't expect us to win, but this will be a good gauge of where we stand as a program. (NT) -- duq81, Saturday, September 11, 11:09:07pm
- The key next week is the Dukes have to go out and hit the Blue Hens in the face on the first play of the game, and keep the intensity the entire game. They will also have to "kitchen sink" Delaware - quick snap counts, hurry-up offense, plenty of blitzing. We're certainly at a disadvantage, but the game is not out of reach.
