Subject: Please accept my condolences.

GL was one of those rare souls you don’t meet often in life—devoted, steady, and full of light. His presence here was more than just participation; it was a kind of quiet heroism. He showed up, not for applause, but because he cared, and because he believed in what this place could be. He had this way of seeing the good in every post, every person, and he shared that goodness like someone passing out coffee on a cold morning—simple, generous, and deeply kind.

To me, he was more than a contributor. He was an example. A guidepost. I wouldn’t be the father I am today without the influence he had on me, though he probably never knew that. He just lived it—his encouragement, his decency, his quiet strength. We all looked up to him.

And GI Julie, thank you. Thank you for being his harbor and his home base. It was clear to us all that he drew strength from your love, and I doubt he could have kept this place alive so long, and so well, without you beside him. So this is for you too—a sharp salute, full of respect and gratitude.

We were lucky to have him. I think he’d be the first to say he was lucky to have you.
