Bo, Friday, July 03, 08:44:46am
I hope you all get to spend some time with family & friends, stuffing your faces with BBQ & other traditional picnic-type munchies.I keep smiling when I think of making S'mores, then have a slight twinge of guilt. Then I laugh that right off *G*
We are going camping, and it has been an insane scramble to get everything ready! Hubs is out getting the last-minute crap done as I type this.Procrastination is alive and well in this house,LOL.This will be the first camping trip for Brenna, and probably my first since having her.I have to say,I actually kind of like tent camping better, but a motorhome has cabinets and shelves to keep little girl's hands from grabbing whatever & whenever.
Haven't had much time to read or even play on the 'net these days. When I do pick up a book,it's along the lines of Charlotte's Web & Old Yeller *G* My son is greedy for stories & I'm happy to indulge him, since he starts school in just a couple months!I'm really proud of the progress he's making & he constantly surprises me.I was glad to move on to something besides Cat in the Hat,and I've kept most of my books from when I was a kid.Being able to read to him from a book my Grandma gave me back in '81 was neat, although I am worried that they'll fall apart.I did sneak in a chapter or two of a Lindsey yesterday.HOORAY *G*
Anyways,hope you all have a great 4th!!!

- Has anyone read Jill Shalvis? Will anyone share opinions? I ran accross a description of a recent book that sounded pretty good - 3rd in a series, so I am wondering wif anyone can tell me about her books before I head off to the ubs (or net) to see if I can find some of her back list to read. I know she wrote a lot of series books, but I was looking at her single titles - some seem to be romantic suspence, and others seem to be contemporary romance, with less of a suspence plot. - Strange and weird. My order from Amazon, Janet's FingerLickin' Fifteen, was not delivered even though the tracking site said it was. Amazon credited back my account, then told me they couldn't send me another because it was no longer available. This struck me as bizarre. It IS Janet Evanovich. I've never had that happen with a new book from a N.Y.T. Bestselling Author. Does anyone know what the heck that's all about??? -- BAM, Tuesday, June 30, 07:27:30am

Edge of Dawn comes out tomorrow and I'm guest blogging in a few places this week--this is just today's list of web appearances. :-) And I'm also giving away an autographed copy of In the Midnight Hour at each of these blogs.
At Novelty Girls, I made the hero from EOD blog about his family's Fourth of July traditions.
At my agent's blog, I talked about ideas and how I choose which one to write.

- So, we're in Union Station in DC -- Ronlyn, Sunday, June 28, 07:45:43am
and we're there SUPER early in the morning (think 6 am) so nothing is really open yet. Scott (my DH) and I are wandering around and he points out these cool Roman guard statues that line the main terminal area. A few minutes later I find a sign thing talking about them, about how they were originally done as full nudes, and shields were added later as modesty panels. So, I wonder out loud if I stand to the side if I can see behind the shield...which I discover after freaking a few security bpeople out by moving at wierd angles around the room, that YEP! You CAN see behind those modesty shields. Scott took a photo. But, not for me, for LEIHA! LMAO!
So, yeah, Leiha, I have a photo for you, we'll have to plan a dinner again soon. LOL

- ARC Review of Breaking Midnight by Emma Holly --
Bo, Friday, June 26, 07:00:14pm
First off,if you haven't picked up Kissing Midnight yet,the first in this new series, you still have time-Breaking comes out on July 7th! What ARE you waiting for???
This book picks up perfectly from where Kissing Midnight left off, with even more intensity! Edmund is put to the test in so many ways, and everything he is capable of,whether in rage or love,is just amazing.
The relationship between Edmund & Estelle continues to grow and strengthen, and Emma's clever and creative way of maintaining their strong sexual and emotional connection definitely makes for a book that's impossible to put down!
I also enjoyed the chemistry between Graham,Edmund's eldest son,and Pen Anderson, the daughter of Graham's old boss.Pen is not without her own secrets, her own skills in the spying game.I LOVED watching them tap dance around each other with barbs and lust until they couldn't stand it any more.Their interactions were witty and daring and some of THE hottest in the book.
Pen's camaraderie with Ben,Edmund's younger son,was delightful to read, also. They make a good team and had some action-packed scenes that would have made Wyatt Earp & Doc Holliday proud.
This book made me tear up a little, too. To see the depths of compassion,to see how far Edmund has come, the way he cares for his family & Estelle and is loved in return is just heartwarming.
Emma creates wonderful villains, also. The kind you just love to hate, that you want to see get what's coming to them.In Li-Hua and Frank, she's created a deliciously evil pair that are absolutely fascinating.I was horrified and enthralled, all at once. They are sexy and scary, and the people they're trying to work with,oh boy. They do manage to turn one of their associates against them, however.BIG mistake.Durand is mysterious and dangerous, and, best of all-TORTURED! YUM. I just love tortured men *G*
Overall,Emma has written a book that is hot, funny, thrilling and tender.I feel like I went on an exciting journey, and there were so many wonderful parts that I don't where to to begin telling you all! Thanks Emma!

Shameless self-promotion.... -- Merry, Friday, June 26, 02:20:27pm
July is The Month of Signings in my shop. I don't know exactly how I managed it, but Annie's Book Stop in Sharon, MA is having three, count 'em three, autograph parties in July! I keep looking over my shoulder for the guys with the big butterfly nets and the jacket with the really, really long sleeves. I'm theming the month as "Saluting our local best - local bookstore, local authors". Anybody think of any other taglines that might sound good (or, please, better!) than that? Hellllppp!
July 11th, we're hosting five authors... Hannah Howell, Leeann Burke, Jessica Anderson, Maureen Fisher, and JM Griffin.
July 18th, there'll be two authors... Dalton Diaz and Ashlyn Chase, both from Ellora's Cave.
And on July 25th, new author Jan Bornstein will be visiting.
All signings will be from 1-3, and will include lots and lots of chatter and plenty of home-made goodies. If any of you are in the area one of these weekends, please drop by and say hello!

- Michael Jackson gone -- Pamela C.
, Thursday, June 25, 05:20:01pm
I know he was bizarre in the end and may have had some icky secrets, but I was a big Michael Jackson fan in junior high and high school. It's sad to see someone with so much talent fall apart the way he did — and then died so young. And, yeah, these days 50 is young.
RIP, MIchael. Thanks for the hours of dancing.

Hi everyone. My 'puter has been in the shop, and since I couldn't get online, I was doing research into ancient civilizations for my writing. Cool! I just got my computer back from the repair shop yesterday evening. Now I'm wading through close to a thousand e-mails. Not so cool!
Sorry that I missed all the campaigning for BOY. I did go back and look through all the posts though. What a hoot. Loved the poems. I must say that I think that you all have extrordinary taste in men, and I heartily approve of you final choice. John Coulter is a cutie. If I'd had a computer, I would definitely have voted for him. He can be my boy next door any time. :-) I just had a thought, Beaty... you can make him my birthday present next year... Pretty please... with sugar and cream on top?
Happy Birthday to Connie, Tina, Mich, and Mandy. And of course, welcome Newbies. But above all...HAPPY BIRTHDAY REBEL.

Lots of excitement there. I'm having a problem with the waiting for the next installment. *G* Read Laurell K Hamilton's SKIN TRADE the day it was released. Good job! I love the new family you've created. Their love for each other shines through. I won't do any spoilers, but this is a must read. But you might want to wait for the second installment to be released. *G*

Hey girls! Sorry it took me so long to respond to all the wonderful welcomes. :) I had to go home and visit with a brand new baby cousin (Violet Grace, 7lbs 2ozs, 20inches long). A few of my favorite authors are Mary Janice Davidson, Karen Moning, Janet Evanovich, and Jane Graves- just to name a few. Let's see.... I'm majoring in Archaeology and minoring in Film & Journalism. I tend to daydream alot... especially in math...hmmm... lol. Recently I have been trying to work out five times a week, it usually happens only about 2 times a week, but i think about it the other 3 days... that counts, right? lol. I'm currently re-reading 'The immortal highlander' by karen moning. Anyone have any suggestions for summer reads? Preferably historical/time travel. -- Meg, Thursday, June 11, 06:07:01pm

- Oooh I love Jane Graves' first series about the 3 brothers, (I got you babe was one, Flirting with Disaster was another, and I've forgotten the title of the 3rd one). I don't like her smaller series romances (but I don't like any of those anymore cuz they just don't have enough time to give me the emotional connection I need). Anyhow, welcome and STAY AWAKE in class young lady!! LOL (NT) -- Robin, Thursday, June 11, 06:12:53pm
- Wild At Heart is the third one... I love the 3 with the brothers, Yeah I have a hard time getting into her newer books. Have you read the Captive series by Fern Micheals? I'm not a huge fan of the rest of micheals books, but the captive series is really good. -- Meg, Thursday, June 11, 06:27:39pm
- Archaeology was my major, Meg, and I work as a journalist (editor-in-chief now, actually), so that's a very familiar combo. I'd go into a coma in math class. Blech! Good luck with your studies! KMM's Highlanders are favorites her, for sure. And congrats on the new baby cousin. What a lovely name she has! (NT) -- P.C., Thursday, June 11, 06:28:03pm

VOTE FOR PATRICK, #12, HE IS HOT, SEXY AND THOSE EYES HAVE PROMISES!!! -- Robin, Thursday, June 11, 03:17:44pm

This one didn’t have the sleekly muscled body of most fairy males, she noted; this one had the body of a warrior. Shoulders much too wide to squeeze onto the bench. Arms bunched with muscle, thick forearms, strong wrists. Cut abdomen rippling beneath the fabric of its T-Shirt each time it shifted position. Powerful thighs caressed by soft, faded denim.
There wasn’t an ounce of flesh on it, just rock hard male body. It had a finely honed, brutal strength that, coupled with its height and breadth, could feel overwhelming to a woman. Especially if it were stretching all that rippling muscle on top of-
At that precise moment it turned its head and glanced her way. She should have looked away. She tried to look away. She couldn’t.
Its face, full on, was a work of impossible masculine beauty – exquisite symmetry brushed by a touch of savagery – but it was the eyes that had seen more than she could ever dream of seeing in a thousand lifetimes. Eyes full of intelligence, mockery, mischief, and -- her breath caught in throat as its gaze dropped down her body, then raked slowly back up – unchained sexuality. Black as midnight beneath slashing brows, its eyes flashed with gold sparks.
Her mouth dropped open and she gasped.
Again its gaze slid down her body, this time much more slowly, lingering on her breasts, fixing unabashedly at the juncture of her thighs. Without a shred of self consciousness, it shifted its hips to gain play in its jeans, reached down, and blatantly adjusted itself.
Helplessly, as if mesmerized, her gaze followed, snagging on that big, dark hand tugging at the faded denim. . .

New Lycan Series The Twinkling by Jewel M. Scott -- Dana, Thursday, June 11, 09:03:08am
Local Philly author Jewel M Scott announces the release and availability of her debut novel, “The Twinkling”. Released May 21, 2009 by Authorhouse, and also available at Barnes and Noble, and Amazon.com. Move over Twilight, The Twinkling is taking the paranormal world by storm with supernatural creatures that would make vampires run for sunlight. This Lycan series opens the doors to a world of strong, majestic, proud, sophisticated, mature, and sexy African American supernaturals. Jewel Scott intertwines heroines with a wicked sense of humor, with the mysteries of the bible, a pinch of modern day sorcery, with a good bit of sex and humor. Finally topping it all off with old world charm.
Nothing could have prepared Jade for the chain of events that started that day. Prison changes most people, and if you add fighting and killing a supernatural creature, it changes everything. Literally thrown into the world of supernatural, Jade and her friends are in a race against time to prevent the resurrection of an ancient evil! Worst of all her heart is torn between two men, one human the other supernatural and both sexy as hell! With time running out and lives being lost, Jade is left with the ultimate decision that could save or end the world.
The Twinkling is the beginning of a sizzling new series that puts African Americans and people of color in the limelight. No longer secondary characters in the paranormal world, instead Ms. Scott’s characters are leading the fight against evil.

- Hi Gayle, Based on your list farther down the board, I would say Jennifer Ashley (historical, pirate) or Catherine Spangler and Susan Grant futuristic/sort of paranormal, sci-fi -ish. *g* In case you haven't started them, The In Death series by JD Robb/Nora Roberts. Since you mentioned Nalini Singh, I will suggest one of my all time favorite shifter authors, Shelly Laurenston. Romantic Suspense I would suggest Gennita Lowe or Catherine Coulter's FBI series. come back and tell us what you like in a story, or what you like in your hero and heroines -- I'm sure we can manage to give you a few more suggestions. YOu can also go look at the RBL top 100 book lists (link on the home page) for ideas. (NT) -- Ann

- Thanks so much, everyone. Sorry it took me a couple days to make it over here. My day was quiet, lol, which as y'all know is a BIG deal in my house. Was supposed to go out to dinner with my dh last night as my bday dinner and instead spent the evening in bed... with an upset stomach. Hopefully, we'll be able to reschedule for another night before we all go out of town. Thanks again, y'all are so sweet. (NT) --
