Ok, a new poll ... or discussion... If you will... -- Naughty Auntie Frannie, Friday, July 25, 07:10:42am
All Right, I've been looking at this gorgeous set of abs and pecks all week and thoroughly enjoying the sight. He is a work of art. And you all know that I love art. As an artist, a bare chest is much easier to do than one with fur. I understand why swimmers shave/wax. Speed. I understand why body builders/models shave/wax. Definition. But on a personal level... I love soft, silky, fingers runnable through, hair on a man's chest. How does everybody else feel? Do ya think that the lack of fur on the model's chests that we are viewing has anything to do with the current popularity of shape shifters? LOL Just asking! *G*

Ooooooohhhh....Opal Carew visited the board -- Heather
, Thursday, July 24, 03:09:57pm
::::waving at you Opal:::: Loved "Twin Fantasies" and "Blush"...I have "Swing" here, and will probably start it tonight. You do a great job with making us really care about the characters...and I just love the spice of your books. Great erotica, in my opinion. Come visit us again...we love our authors to visit us.
Beaty I'm so glad you enjoyed her book...we think we don't always agree on books...but most of the time we do!!! Linda, you're going to LOVE it. I've lent my copy to Ann, she hasn't read it yet...but I'm going to make her read it soon (she's been busy with her move)!
My exchange students are gone, as of this morning...3 sixteen year olds in my home for two weeks...all I can say is I humbly bow down to you mom's who have, or have had, teens in your home. I'm freakin' exhausted...and plan to do nothing more for the rest of the day, but veg out, and read "Swing". Good night everyone!!!

- It's a small world -- Libby, Thursday, July 24, 12:48:46pm
I'm leaving on vacation in the morning and needed to pick up some reading material to take with me. Since I work at a library I have easy access to a few hundred thousand titles but I'm going camping and I've seen what happens to library books that spend any length of time in a tent. So...off I went to Coles on my lunch break...
I selected a book by Kathryn Smith, Be Mine Tonight, left it on the passenger seat of my car so I wouldn't leave it at the library and went back to work. A little while later a co-worker needed a drive to pick up a car and I volunteered. What does she say when she sees the book? "Did you read it yet? That's my cousin". LOL
Sometimes, the world seems so small. :)

For a limited time, Tor is allowing free downloads of every book they released over the months through their email program. I counted and including mine, there are nearly two dozen available. There are only two of us from the paranormal romance program, everyone else is SF/F, but if you're interested in checking out what's available, the link is:

It's a good opportunity to try some new authors.

It is a fantastic mother daughter movie watchable. Just got back from seeing it with my growing up waaaay to fast daughter and heck they even have a bit about ... dot dot dots LOL.
It has just about every romance plot device somewhere in it, secret babies, big misunderstandings, HEAPS AND HEAPS of beefcake all dancing around showing their six packs on a beach, May-December moments and a HEA too. It just made me laugh and weep and hum the ABBA tunes and do all of this in the company of my daughter in a theatre filled with many other mother/daughter combos. Truly special girl time.

I'm heading to Pennsylvania this Friday morning with a friend to attend a Medieval festival just north of Pittsburg. Last year we drove straight through (from Nova Scotia, took 25+ hours)but this time around I'm trying to convince him to stop and see a few things along the way. Any recommendations for things in Pennsylvania? I've tossed Gettysburg on the table and he hadn't said NO.
Suggestions appreciated!

- Is anyone else excited for the show "True Blood" on HBO? -- Joey, Tuesday, July 22, 08:33:22am
A year or so ago, when I first heard they were turning Charlaine Harris's Southern Gothic vampire books into a tv series, I was somewhat excited (translate SUPER excited). Then I heard they cast Anna Pacquin as Sookie and that got me even more worked up (I'm a fan of hers). Anyway, it is finally premiering on HBO this fall. And I've already been scraping my pennies to pay the HBO premiums and talked to the honey about turning on HBO this fall so we can watch the show.
http://www.hbo.com/events/trueblood/
Anyone else excited? Does anyone else read the books? I will admit I am 2 books behind in the series (I have one of them right now from the library). But then I am behind on almost all my reading right now.
Ciao!

- Check out my book!!! -- Kerri M. Young, Sunday, July 20, 06:18:50pm
Check out my new book. Love After All was just released by Author House. It is an exciting, witty, sensual historical romance. Here is an excerpt:
Clarissa sat in the chair after the sizzling feelings his stare caused left her and she couldn’t stand the cold anymore. Finally, she approached the bed where her nemesis was lying in wait. Sound asleep and obviously not bothered by the chilly air. “Ethan...” she said quietly.
“I knew you’d reconsider,” he said without even opening his eyes. He sighed, “Oh, very well, I’ll forgive you and I suppose you can share the bed with me.” He teased and started to lift the covers for her then snatched them back down as he looked up at her. “You’re not undressed yet,” he growled.
“I’m not undressing for you, now please,” she pleaded. His eyes roved over her uncaring that she saw.
Knowing full well that she was cold enough to do just about anything to get into the bed Ethan didn’t give an inch and pressed his point on further. “Under no circumstances are you getting in this bed with those clothes on. Just look at the hem of that dress. It’s absolutely filthy, and the grass stains from where you were lying on the ground,” he tisked in a haughty tone.
Clarissa looked herself over the best she could in the small light from the candle still barely burning, melted down to the trunk it sat on.
With a huff of frustration she started to undress but stopped when she noticed how intently he was watching her. “Are you going to do that the whole time?” she asked him.
“Yes love, it’s part of the deal.” he stared up at her. His eyes turned to golden smelt in the dark room as they roved unbridled over her.
She let out and exasperated sigh before continuing to unbutton the back of her gown and slide it to her feet. Ethan watched as her hands worked to free the many necessary articles of clothing.
When she was down to her chemisette Clarissa turned back toward the bed. The white linen fit snugly hugging her hips and defined her breast leaving the imprint of her nipples in the soft fabric. Ethan noticed they were hardened as the cold air met with her skin, their color stained against the delicate fabric.
She wrapped her arms protectively around herself and stared into the bed at him. One lacy strap fell off her shoulder, she didn’t seem to notice. Everything about her mystified him and set his blood on fire. He’d never seen a woman do anything as sexy and seductive in his life. And innocent, she had no clue the longing she caused within him by a few simple movements. “You said I could wear this if I got into bed with you.”
“I know,” he barely got out in a husky whisper. If only he could think of the words to make her remove the rest of her clothing for him. He immensely enjoyed removing a woman’s clothing before a tryst but never had he watched a woman do the likes of it herself before. It was exotic, and he was in more need of her now than ever.
“Can I get in now? It’s really cold,” her words broke his thoughts.
“No, the rest of it has to go,” his eyes still intently on her taking in every inch.

For waving at me & asking about *my* stuff. I AM still writing. In fact, I just finished off a HUGH contest entry (keep your fingers crossed for me). Right now I am blazing through the end of my first draft so I can start getting proposals sent out.
In very exciting news... my critique partner just sold her first book! (if you recall, my other critique partner, Shirley Karr was writing historicals). So this is "Jessa Slade" and she writes paranormals/urban fantasies like me.
You can check her out at:
http://www.jessaslade.com
Why is this exciting news for me? Well, it gets frustrating and discouraging having been at this for so long and not having sold (and been SO close a few times). But Jessa has been close and been writing even longer than me. And she just sold her first book!! It just gives me hope. *grin*
I hope you do check out Delilah Marville's site. I think you all will enjoy her book. It is Hot, Hot, Hot!!
Ciao!

- Twin Fantasies by Opal Carew -- Beaty, Sunday, July 20, 07:06:32am
I wanted to second Heather's recommend of Twin Fantasies. It's for those of you that enjoy erotica. There is a threesome in it just as a warning for those that don't like that. But why I'm doing the recommend is that I got the connection. Much erotica is just that - all about the sex. And there is a place for that. But what really gets me into a story is the connection between the h/h. If I don't get that, then the story is flat. Anyway, here's another erotica author that builds the characters enough for you to feel the love and romance. Since I'd like to know when others find this kind of treat, I thought I'd share. Thanks, Heather!

I have the strangest feeling that this one may have been done before....
She was standing too close to him. He simply reached out and wrapped his long, elegant fingers around her exposed neck. He pulled her closer, exerting just the slightest amount of pressure. His fingertips were just under her jaw, his thumb stroking the soft flesh of her throat.
“Maybe I feed on pain and terror. Maybe I brought you this far to kill you the moment you begin to trust me.”
She swallowed. The touch of his hands on her throat was unnerving, and it took all her strength to keep from swaying against him. “And maybe you’re full of shit,” she said. “You may not want me, but you don’t want to kill me either.”
His smile was wry. “Now that’s where you’re wrong.”
The pressure of his fingers against her throat increased for just a moment, and she felt dizzy, disoriented, until she realized he’d pushed her up against the wall of the damask-paneled living room, his elegant body pressed up against hers, his fingers cradling her face as he looked down into her eyes in the gathering darkness. Wrong about what, she thought distantly. Wrong about killing, or wrong about wanting?
He was about to tell her.
“If this was a different time, a different place, I would take you to bed with me and make love to you for days,” he said, his voice slow and deep and intent. “I would use my mouth on you, until no part of your skin went untouched, and I would make you come, over and over again until you could stand no more, and then I’d let you sleep in my arms until you were rested and then I would start all over again. I would kiss your wounds, I would drink your tears, I could make love to you in ways that haven’t even been invented yet. I would make love to you in fields of flowers and under starry skies, where there is no death or pain or sorrow. I would show you things haven’t even dreamed of, and there would be no one in the world but you and me, between your legs, in your mouth, everywhere.”
She stared at him, eyes wide.
“Breathe,” he said softly, with a self-depreciating smile, and she realized she’d been holding her breath.
“You would?” She gasped.
“I would. But I won’t. It wouldn’t be a very good idea.”
“Why not?”
“It wouldn’t be very good for you.”
“Why don’t you let me be the judge of what’s good for me?”

*Edited for length*
“Look, Desford!” Miss T is trying to climb onto the earl’s shoulders.”
Sure enough, Miss T had managed to hook her knee over the earl’s shoulder and was even now trying to climb atop his head.
“Oh no!” Elizabeth cried. “She’s pushing him under!”
Before the children’s interested gazes, the two disappeared from sight once more.
Selena sighed sadly. “I suppose we’ll be getting another governess after all.”
Desford snorted, desperate to prove her wrong. “It’ll take more than a little water to get rid of Miss Thraxton.” He found himself leaning against the old man, the faint scent of tobacco making his eyes sting.
“Lord G has Miss T now!” Marian said excitedly.
Kicking free from the cold depths of the pond, A***** was actively thinking of all the other, smaller governesses he should have hired. There was the Shropshire woman who was reportedly well trained. And then there was the Kendall’s new governess, a linguist with an allegedly uncanny way of teaching watercolors. If it had been anyone other than Miss T, he would not be drowning in his own frigid pond. He untangled himself from her grasp and then grabbed her beneath the arms once again, and hauled her back to the surface.
As soon as she broke free, she began to cough and sputter, clutching his shirt frantically.
“Easy,” A**** admonished. “I’m treading water and-----“
She grabbed his hair and attempted to climb him like a ladder. Water filled his mouth as she desperately attempted to get on top of him, her leg pressing down on his shoulder, her arm slung over his head.
It was true he’d dreamed of her in this exact position---- of her thigh against his cheek, her womanhood enticingly near his mouth. Only in his dreams, she hadn’t been screaming for help and he hadn’t been drowning beneath the surface of a murky pond.
He yanked her leg from his shoulder and pushed her away, then grabbed the overturned skiff. “Good God, woman!” he managed to choke out. “Stay still or I’ll let the fish have you!”
He pushed the upended skiff forward at that moment, relaxing only when she clung gratefully to one corner. As soon as he got her back to shore, he’d be damned if he wouldn’t exact a complete and thorough apology from her.
She clung to the boat, laying her head against the wet wood, her hair streaming over her shoulders and floating in a russet circle about her shoulders.
A****’s irritation dissipated when he saw her pale face. “Are you hurt?”
A shuddering breath ripped from her lips. Her gray eyes appeared almost green as she panted her answer, “I thought… I thought I was… going to drown”
“So did I. You said you could swim.”
“I can,” She said, gulping air.
“You call that swimming?”
She frowned, her panting already lessening. “I never said I was good at it. And I’ve never had to swim in skirts.” He made a disgusted noise. “Hold onto the boat, I’m going to pull you ashore.”
She did as she was told, and he managed to get them back to land without further mishap.
She pushed herself to her knees. “I really can swim, you know. It has just been a while.”
“How long?”
“I think I was ten. Somehow, I was better at it then.”
“I daresay you’d remember how if you had more practice.” He stood and held out his hand.
Without demur, she placed her hand in his and let him pull her to his feet. “I don’t know what to say. This is quite awkward”.
“Drowning usually is.” He watched her mouth press together in a most delightful manner. Though she was thoroughly wet and beginning to sniffle, she still managed to possess an innate elegance. She would make a commanding countess.
Good God, where had that come from? She had the air one expected from a countess, but not the manner.
As if to confirm his thoughts, she pushed her hair from her face, succeeding only in shoving the lily pad to a more prominent position on the top of her head, then said in an ungracious tone, “I suppose I should thank you.”
“I suppose you should,” he replied. After all, he’d lost his slippers, and his new coat lay in the damp grass. “You should also inquire as to whether I’m injured. You left a footprint on my neck.”
Too late, she realized she’d forgotten to cover herself, for his dark brown gaze was fastened on her chest. Her temper snapped. “Damn it G******, pay attention! I am speaking, not my breasts.”
His gaze rose to her face, his eyes hot and brown, his mouth strangely soft.
“You may not be able to hear your breasts speaking, but I can.”

And these beach parties and giveaways do work...I won a few books from a new author a few years ago (Jane Graves) and I enjoyed them immensely, and now she is an autobuy for me. I hope the authors get many new readers from this party! Thanks for the heads up. Hope to see you there. (NT) -- Robin, Friday, July 18, 04:33:49am

- Carly Phillips books -- Robin, Wednesday, July 16, 07:06:49pm
Okay, so....I have not read a Carly Phillips book in ages, but I saw an excerpt for book 4 in the "Hot" series and it looks good, HOT PROPERTY.
Has anyone read any of the others? I'm a little twitchy about reading a series out of order but I just don't want to start another series right now...I have too many others that I'm in the middle of.
So if anyone out there has read any of them, Hot Item, Hot Number and one other that I can't think of....please let me know.
If not, I'll get book 4 and try it and let YOU know. LOL
Robin

I just finished reading an ARC of Carly's "Hot Property", and I think I liked it best of the series... I really liked the hero, who was a sucker for his greedy, grasping family, and the heroine, who tried to *save* him from them. Of course, her own family earned no prizes, either. Good story. Fun to read. (NT) -- Merry, Friday, July 18, 11:57:12am

How's the summer? It's finally arrived in Western Washington and I'm being run ragged by small people who have places to go and people to play with. LOL. I never really understood the whole "Mommy-taxi" thing. It's already hit my house in a big way. My 4 year old is such a socail butterfly he's always on the move....with little brother going as fast as he can to try to keep up.
So, what's new? I've gotten essentially ZERO reading done lately. The last book I picked up was Nora Roberts "High Noon", which I flew through.

Bobbi, Sunday, July 13, 08:36:28am
Over at Shelfari I joined a group I thought some might be interested in! It's a Romance reading challenge group where you choose books based on the criteria of a list made by the administration -- example: choose a book with a wedding word in the title. You commit to reading a certain number of books in three months and write reviews for them when you're done. It's pretty fun! We are in the middle of the Summer challenge, but the Fall challenge will start on Sept 1st. I was also thinking that this might be fun to do over here, or on the RBL Shelfari, sometime too! If anyone on Shelfari is interested I can send you a group invite, or just go to my groups to find it!

Here's the extra one I was going to post yesterday. You'll just have to read two today. *G*
She kept her hand on his arm, her nails digging in tight, determined to handle this situation herself. Without violence. Though, she had to admit, a teeny, tiny part of her liked how protective Jake was, even if she usually had absolutely no use for such blatent displays of testosterone.
"You. Sit. I mean it," she ordered the intoxicated stranger, pointing to his seat.
The man sat.
"Now, I'm quite certain that somewhere in your beer-sodden brain, you believe I'm flattered by your eloquently worded...compliments ." (She) didn't have to raise her voice to make sure she was being heard. All around them, conversations had quieted, and she didn't think a single spectator in their section was watching what was going on down in the field. The showdown here was apparently much more interesting.
"However, while I'm sure you are a man who possesses many admirable porcine qualities, as you can see, I am here in the company of another gentleman. And neither of us appreciates your attentions. Will you please, therefore, refrain from commenting further and allow us to get back to the game?"
The man's mouth fell open. "What'd she say?"
The embarrassed-looking man next to him - his friend who'd made no effort to provide backup to the drunk - muttered, "I'm pretty sure she told you to shut the hell up."
"Yeah," someone else said. "So please do us all a favor and do it!"
"Oh," the drunk said, finally glancing around and realizing what a spectacle he'd made of himself. If (she) had railed at him, he probably wouldn't have backed down. As it was, though, her calm, courteous reply made him look an absolute fool. And he wasn't too drunk to realize it.
"Sorry," he mumbled.
"Thank you." (She) smiled and nodded politely, then turned back around to face the field, putting a definite end to the interaction. It was the top of the ninth and things were getting interesting. She wasn't going to waste another moment of the beautiful day on a blithering fool.
She didn't even glance over as Jake slowly dropped back into his seat beside her. "I can take care of myself, you know," she murmured, watching the field.
"Yeah, I noticed." Jake leaned closer, near enough for her to feel the warmth of his breath on her hair. Not to mention the way his shoulders shook with laughter. His anger had disappeared as quickly as steam off a bathroom mirror. "Correct me if I'm wrong...did you just call him a pig?"
"I'm certain I don't know what you mean."
"Uh-huh. Sure you don't."

"Mind if I make a closer inspection?" I asked cautiously. "Is it safe to approach him?"
"Oh, yes! He will not harm you. Not while I have this," the Cylopean replied, holding up a remote control of some kind. I didn't ask what would happen if he turned the dial on it since I was already too creeped out by the outrageous forms of control I could see with my own eyes.
I nodded and walked around the slave. Yes, he will do nicely! I thought. There weren't very many open wounds on him, though I had no doubt that there were probably sores beneath those restraints. He seemed healthy enough, too: no wheezing when he breathed, no cough, and his color - what I could discern of it from beneath the layer of dust and filth caked on his skin - seemed normal enough, though it might not have been for one of his kind.
"May I touch him?" I asked.
"Certainly! Touch him, if you will!" the Cylopean urged. "Feel the firmness of his muscles, the strength of his bones!"
Actually, all I really wanted to do was to knock some of the crud off of the sores on his back to see if there was anything festering under there. I didn't have to feel him to know that he was strong. Stepping up behind him, I flicked the crusts off with my glove. No puss, I noted, but the cuts appeared to be recent - perhaps they simply hadn't had the time to become infected as yet.
"Any sickness?" I asked.
"Oh, no, he is quite healthy. I assure you!"
"What about his teeth?" I inquired. "Are they rotten?"
Where I was going, a man with bad teeth would stick out like a sore thumb (not that this man would blend in anywhere, mind you). It was just that I didn't want him to appear as though he had been the one to have been a been a slave, rather than myself. On Statzeel, with the women enslaved, all the men had personal groomers who kept them in tip-top condition - even to the point of brushing their teeth for them.
"Not at all!" came the reply. "Wait, I will show you." The Cylopean stepped forward and gestured to the slave, who promptly open his mouth. "You see? All present and in good condition."
And sharp enough to cut through most conventional tethers, with canines a full quarter-inch longer than his other teeth! I should move on. Then it occurred to me that the command to open his mouth had been unspoken.
"Can he hear and speak?" I asked quickly. "Does he understand Stantongue?"
This was important since he'd have to be doing the talking for me on Statzeel, and possibly on other worlds, as well. A mute would be of no use whatsoever, and I didn't want to have to take the time to teach him a new language, either.
I was looking at the slave when I asked that question, and noted the faint flicker of a dark, feline eyebrow. Oh, yes, he understood me, all right.
"Yes, of course he can!" I was assured. "He is quite fluent!"
My own eyes were drawn once more to those shining, black orbs which flashed as the slave raised his head, an act which drew the chain between his collar and the genital cuff taut and lifted his penis by the ring running through the top of it. If I'd previously assumed that his posture was one of submission, I'd have been wrong, for obviously it was merely the position of the greatest comfort for him. Well, the position of the least discomfort, anyway.

Here's a favorite of mine. Should be an easy one. If you guess it early, I have another to give you.....
"I suppose you'd like to watch me undress," she said. Her voice was plum-rich, honey-sweet. His blood seemed to thicken at the sound.
"Yes," he said, "but only if you're comfortable with that."
She liked his answer. This time her smile invited him to join. She smoothed her hands down the front of her dress. "You could make me more comfortable."
"You've only to tell me how."
"Take off your jacket," she said, and backed to the opposite bench.
He sat down the basque and did as she asked. Her eyes never left his face as his arms tugged free of the sleeves.
"Your tie," she added.
He removed that, too, laid it atop the jacket, and undid the top button of his shirt. Her breasts began to rise and fall, her nipples forming points beneath the dress. As the day before, he'd have sworn she wore no bra.
"Now," she said. "If you'd spread your legs, I'll be completely happy."
(He) flushed. Clearly, she wanted to see if he had an erection. Feeling faintly ridiculous, but incredibly aroused, he moved his feet apart and sprawled his knees. His bulge was bared now to her view. Its head lodged beneath his belt, pulsing madly in its quest for freedom. He looked down at it, then at her. She was staring at his crotch, eyes traveling inch by inch over his cock, heating the swollen ridge like some magic sexual ray gun. She moistened her lips. A tingle of pure lust crawled down his spine.
"Big," she said. "My favorite kind."
He laughed but couldn't answer. His brain had turned to mush. She began gathering her dress up her thighs.
She was wearing stockings beneath the green cashmere, real silk stockings. His heart stuttered when her garters came into view. Ivory lace, fine as spiderwebs, strutted a matching ivory panty. Her hips were the color of slivered almonds, her belly smooth and gently rounded. Her ribs were too prominent, but that just made him want to stroke them with his hands. He would soften their edge with his caress. He would - Her breasts appeared, high and shapely, their cinnamon areolae tightening to rosy tips. His mouth watered. The dress cleared her head. She was lovely. She stood, shoulders back, arms at her sides, displaying herself but not preening. Her hair was tousled as if she'd just rolled out of bed, her cheeks and mouth redder than they'd been before. He needed no further evidence that this game was turning her on.
Which did not change the fact that she remained in charge.
"I'd like to see your cock," she said, quiet but breathy. "Please open your pants."

- Mandy, that is so not fair! But, if I have to narrow it down to one... at the moment,.. it would have to be Mary Jo Putney's THE SPIRAL PATH. Both the hero and the heroine have had terrible pasts, but they are such wonderful people. No suspense, just a wonderful character driven ROMANCE. (NT) -- Frances, Thursday, July 10, 05:33:53am
- Muwhahahahaha thats what makes this question soooooo good Frances!! LOL its interesting! (plus I can get new Ideas!) (NT) -- mandy, Thursday, July 10, 07:40:53am
- Too hard, Mandy! If I stay away from series (I always get attached to reoccuring characters) and pick historical instead of any other genre, I'd go with Shanna by Kathleen Woodiwiss. It's stuck with me for years even though I haven't reread it. But it's the series stories that I go back to again and again. Especially when there is a new one in the series coming out. (NT) -- Beaty, Thursday, July 10, 11:53:20am
- Any of Karen Monings highlander series-if I had to narrow it down to one it would be Dark Highlander. (NT) -- Lucy, Thursday, July 10, 08:04:37pm
- Those ReBeLs who know me, know that I can NEVER choose just one favorite book or author or hero or anything else in a poll - but I CAN name the book which began my love of romance novels, and which remains one of my all-time faves: Ashes in the Wind by Kathleen Woodiwiss. It was given to me once when I was ill by an elementary school librarian, and I was hooked! (NT) -- Judy, Friday, July 11, 04:19:21pm
- I think if I had to pick ONE, it would change every month. For this month, I'll say A Whisper of Roses by Teresa Medeiros. (But there are like 25 that are my all time faves, so I guess I'll name a different one next time....so that they all get a turn! LOL) (NT) -- Robin, Saturday, July 12, 07:21:16am

I love that the publisher had the first audiobooks in the series, redone by Susan Ericksen...she's DA BOMB...and the books are just so great...then to have such a great narrator...well...I'm in heaven!
Read Jane Graves latest "Tall Tales and Wedding Veils"...that was a fun read...not overly steamy...but I really enjoyed the 2 main characters, and they spent almost the entire book together. I like when the characters are together a lot in the book.
Opal Carew's latest "Blush"...she writes erotica...and I think she is fabulous...she really develops her characters, and her stories are very plausible. Plus her stuff is so hot...and she writes it so well.
Re-read Emma Holly's "Menage"...it's been several years since I read it...and what a ground-breaker that book was, wasn't it? Loved the re-read...it was just as good the second time around!!!
Read Susan Mallery's "Buchannan" series...it was my first time reading this author, and I really enjoyed the series. A couple were better than the others...but overall...an enjoyable series...and I will definately get more stuff by her.
On tap...nothing...I've got 3, 15yo (girls), foreign exchange students coming to live with me for 2 weeks, starting tomorrow (gotta hide all the erotica)! So I think I'm going to be too busy to read for the next few weeks.
So...any of you ladies have any recommends...been reading any good stuff lately??!?!!? I've still got to get caught up on my Kenyon books...Acheron is only a month away....eek!!!

- You've mentioned Carew before. I'll have to check her out. I, too, am listening to JD Robb. I'm on Vengence. *G* They do fill the time while I'm puzzling with mystery, humor and ROARKE!!! *G* Have fun with your 15 year-olds, Heather. You are sooooo much braver than I! I hate to give you recommends. You and I don't normally like the same thing. *G* The latest Evanovich was fun. Are you caught up on your Holly's? Claire's? For historical I'd recommend Elizabeth Hoyt. ((((HUGS)))) to you and Leila. See you this fall! (NT) -- Beaty, Thursday, July 10, 11:49:38am
- You are so right about Susan Erickson she's GREAT at all the voices. I'm getting caught up on the Kenyon too. I have 3 to go counting the one I'm on..*G* (NT) --

- Both my sister and I are reading the new Nora Roberts book - and enjoying it lots! It's especially fun, since we're both hugh HGTV fans! (NT) -- Judy, Friday, July 11, 04:22:26pm
- Opal is a friend of mine. Very nice, sweet lady. (NT) -- Lucy, Friday, July 11, 07:34:52pm
- I've been reading a lot too, Lorraine Heaths newest "In Bed with the Devil" which I enjoyed and even got a tear in the end. I read Rachel Gibsons latest and the Jane Graves too....I have the newest Evanovich here "14" and will probably start that next. I am awaiting Brockmanns newest and I have the Linda Howard "DEATH ANGEL" book on order at the library and it looks REAL good. I did a re-read of Once a Princess by Lindsey and I re-read a Kleypas too....so I've read more in the last month than I have in the previous 3 months it seems. I am woefully behind on the Kenyons' - I think I have 5 to go before Acheron. By the time I get to him, it will probably be out in paperback. But you know what they say, so many books, so little time. I hope you enjoy the exchange students, it sounds like fun! Take care. (NT) -- Robin, Saturday, July 12, 07:19:23am

- I'm doing the Happy Dance! -- Frances, Wednesday, July 09, 09:31:17am
In the wee hours of this morning, I officially lost my Wirgin status. I typed THE END on my short story, "SCARS: Excerpted from Solaris Watcher Chronicles". I've been working on this short story for the last few weeks and I finished it! I think?
I started my blog, Frances Writes, as shameless self promotion as a writer. My next step in preparing to become a published author will be to build a website. SCARS is going to be a freebie on that website. However, the first Rebel to e-mail me gets a sneek peak. Of course, if you want the sneak peak, it means that you have to tell me if you find any screw-ups. *G*
Disclaimer: SCARS is not a Romance. It is an Adventure, and an introduction of the hero in the manuscript that I hope soon to finish. He gets his HEA in that story. *BEG*

- Name that scene --
Bobbi, Sunday, July 06, 07:15:33am
(this is probably an easy one, and forgive me if it's been done before. It's just such a great scene!!!)
“Once your hand is in the water and things have settled down,” C--- said, “You begin easing closer to the trout. You do it so slowly that the fish accepts your presence as natural. While you ease closer you have to read the trout. Is it getting restless? Is it worried?”
“How can you tell what the trout it feeling?” W--- asked huskily.
“As my daddy used to say, you have to watch the wee beastie very, very carefully.”
W--- smiles at the faint Scots burr in C---’s voice. Soundlessly, she let out her pent up breath and relaxed a bit more with each slow stroke of the brush.
“You see,” he continued, in a deep, lazy voice, “the trout has to think your hand is just a part of the stream, nothing more than a current flowing over her. If you move to quickly, the trout will flee. Then you have to start all over again. Patience is the key. That and the fact that the trout just naturally love the feeling of the current stroking over their sleek bodies.”
“Do they really?” W--- asked, her voice unusually husky.
“Why else would trout seeks out the fastest currents and just hang there, transfixed, with water caressing them from all sides?”
The weight of [her] hair lifted as [he] began to brush from beneath once more. He caught up all the silky strands and twisted his wrist slowly wrapping his hair around it. Frissons of pleasure moved over her when she felt the warmth of the sun on her bare nape.
“Think of it,” C-- whispered against her neck. As he spoke he brushed his cheek very gently over her nape. “Suspended in rushing currents…”
At first, [she] thought it was her own soft brush whispering so delicately over her skin. Then she felt the warm rush of C--’s breath and knew that it was his beard caressing her.
“…All that sensitive skin being stroked all at once…all over.”
[Her] heart began beating so violently she was certain [he] could hear it. He repeated the exquisite caress again, drawing a sound from her.
The sound was like a knife slicing though [his] self control. The tiny feminine cry could have been passion. It also could have been fear. He couldn’t tell without touching her more intimately, and he was too good a hunter to do that just yet. If it was passion making her tremble, further seduction would only make her more eager. If it was fear, further seduction was in order.
No man ever made a meal of the trout that got away.
