I finished wrapping the last gift-something for my Mom-this morning,hooray!!!! I HATE wrapping,and I was ready to scream after all the stuff I did for the kids.Hubs was easy & just wanted some basics.jeans,socks,etc.I am racking my brain trying to think of ways to wear my kids out this afternoon so they'll go to bed early.I'm so tired lately,I am ready to conk out at like 9 pm,while they could easily outlast me another 2 hours,LOL.They were naughty already this morning,fighting over who would pick out the bow for Grandma's gift,the tag,who got to put it under the tree,etc. It's been hard for me not to open the eggnog early,listening to the bickering *G*

A quick update on the business with my SIL I posted about last time:She came and got some of her stuff the other day(not nearly enough,IMO) and we didn't say one word to each other.Nice.Also,the 17 yr old she gave the wonderful advice to,about 'get pregnant,so you can move out',has apparently taken it.How very predictable.When my MIL called us with the news,we just said,'Oh,so she took her Mom's advice,huh?' I just LOL anymore,the whole thing is ridiculous.

There has been a lot of flooding and damage around the county here,we got such an insane amount of rain.It's been similar to & even worse in some parts than when it happened 5 yrs ago.It was a little scary to see that the river tripled in size and seeing it ripping stuff apart makes you think just how puny and helpless we really are.

The only thing I've read recently was 'And One Wore Gray' by Heather Graham.Some parts I really liked,but some really irritated me,so it took me a while to finish it.
I've read about the same number of books this year as last year,and most of them I've liked,with a few that I really loved.Maybe I'll have more time to read now that the Christmas crazies are just about over *G*

Also, Happy Holidays, Joyous Solstice, or Hope-You're-Enjoying-Wednesday-Day....

Just recovering from a mild *cheap drunk* (you know what that is, right? You don't have to drink anything, just be near someone who's over-imbibed?) - had a guy come in and ask if he could use the phone to call for a ride home (it's snowing quite heavily, and he was coated with it). He stood here, swaying gently in the non-existent breeze, smelling strongly of cigs and Holiday Cheer, and finally had to hand me the phone and tell me the number to dial, 'cause he couldn't make the phone buttons work properly. He spoke with his son, asked for a ride, said he was in the Chinese restaurant (16 stores down from here), and left, declaring me *the bestest-est ever*. I swear, I was beginning to feel a bit woozy myself, just from proximity.

He must've really fortified himself for his winter walk. Gosh. Hope he doesn't lie down to rest in a snowbank somewhere! Didn't think of that until just now, darn it. Hope his ride comes soon - he said he lived "not too far from here", just didn't want to walk back in the snow.

Ah, the joys of retail.

Anyway, whatever you may (or may not) be celebrating this week, I hope you have a wonderful time, whether you're with a huge family gathering or curled up with a good book and a hot cuppa.

Now, if only I could find two more presents for my son-in-law, Mr. Hard-to-buy-for, I'd be all set.

I've got most of my chores done (to be ready for company) and only have to mop floors downstairs and do a little laundry...maybe clean both bathrooms but then that is IT. We will have a small group over for our annual karaoke party on 12/24 (which is when we celebrate with dh's fam) then on 12/25 we go to his sisters for breakfast and then to my step dads for lunch....so I get free meals all day long! Can't beat that, right? I'm finishing up "Happy Ever After" by Nora Roberts (pt 4 of a series) and then I may give myself a NICE gift and read a J.D. - MERRY CHRISTMAS! We are STILL waiting for my daughter to deliver our 3rd grandchild. Today is HER birthday, so we'll see if she makes it to her due date which is Christmas day (our 1st grandchild was born Christmas day 11 years ago.) I've so missed you all so much. It's my own fault too. I've been "too busy" to get on. Which is a total lie I just haven't been around. That will hopefully change.

Ok Linda I got your email. I hope this will let me post this thru foxfire. Last time it wouldn't. If it doesn't i'll just go thru Aol.

I'm not sure if i told you all but I'm finally, and I do mean finally, getting married. His name is Donald O'Connor. We met 3 years ago on the internet. It was a dating site for people who like large women. I had finally decided to give the search for love one more time. I was at the bookstore and just playing on the computer. I wasn't even actively looking on the site. He popped up and wanted to chat. I said ok on one condition. I wouldn't talk to him about sex. He said fine and we began a great friendship. After about a year I gave him my phone number & I had his. We would talk every once in a while and I really thought he was a wacky funny guy who was a sweet friend and never thought it would go any further. But then last year about October we started talking to each other for 3 to 4 hours at least 4 nights a week. It continued and Don told me He loved me and that I was his soul mate. I was still a non-believer on his claims of love but soon after I went to Vegas with my father in March I realized that he was the love of my life. He made arrangements to come out to see me for supposedly two weeks and he's never left. Two days after he got here he asked me to marry him and I said yes. We drove to Minnesota and moved his stuff down and we are making plans to marry May 7th 2011. I wish all of you could be there with me. He makes me so happy most of the time and annoys me every once in a while. I've never really lived with someone before so its taken a bit of adjusting on my part. He's now an official New Mexican and my family loves him, even the cats. He take care of me when I'm in pain and always tells me he loves me even when he doesn't actually say the words.

I know this was a huge letter but I wanted to tell you all my new life story. I gonna try to go to Vegas this coming year. I've so missed going. I'll kind of think of it as my bachelorette party. I'll be bringing my best friend who is my maiden of honor and my bridesmaid and her girlfriend.

I really love all of you guys and hope you all have a wonderful holiday season. Mine is going to be the best ever.

Christmas party is over. Bosses all taken care of. Box of cards sitting here waiting for me to get busy and send. Ingredients in the kitchen waiting for me to get up and start. But the majority of it will be done by Tuesday. Then it's just waiting for the hectic to be over.

- I stressed this weekend, big time. The tree is up but not decorated but the dh said he'd finish it. I have to do my shopping this week to get it out of the way, and cards also for a few family members....then I'll be able to do some baking...and its not even about the gifts and the crapola that goes with the holiday, it means so much more. - The decorating is done (housekeeper was here Thurs.) I don't bake, our family hasn't exchanged gifts (except for the kids & there are only 2 left) in several years & we LOVE it! I didn't do much baking, but I did do a lot of cooking for my daughter - cooked several meals for her and froze them to make it easy for her when she brings the newborn home. Still deciding on buying/cutting.Same price,by the time you drive out to BFE & cut one.I love cutting one & the kids enjoy it,but this year I feel rushed/stressed that we're late getting one,so maybe a tree lot.We'll see.Have all the stuff for boy but stocking stuffers,and that's always last.Still need to buy the little princess more stuff-haven't gotten much so far.Three years old is a tough age to buy for- too old for baby toys,not old enough to appreciate/ fully use all the really neat stuff I'd like to get her,LOL.Haven't gotten Mom a thing yet,have some thinking to do on that.Nothing for hubs yet,either.He's been doing some holiday baking lately,which is fine with me,I detest baking cookies and such unless it's those pre-cut shapes you just stick in the oven for 15 minutes *G* I really don't even want to sit down and wrap the stuff I've already bought,isn't that awful,LOL. Hi ladies! The realities of life,and this month in particular,have intruded most unpleasantly lately and I haven't been around as a result.Between Christmas shopping,my son's birthday in a few days,and working long hard hours,I am wrung out.

Hubs and I had a wretched 6 weeks or so that I was sure would end in bloodshed divorce or both.It didn't help that his sister had moved in with us around Labor Day and basically sat on her a$$ playing on her computer all day while we both worked our tailfeathers off. We finally ended up fighting with her & me telling her off via text message on hubby's phone,which those of you who know me well know how I despise texting,well,I was even madder by the time I was through.Anyways,I 'll put the rest of that sordid little tale in an inside post below this-it's kind of long.

My next mini-rant is about the schools soaking you for time and money any way they can this month.Christmas store.Candy bar Fridays.Oh,the class earned an ice cream party (in winter,really?!?)so send some toppings to contribute,please!Read a Christmas story and bring a treat for the whole class.Oh,it's your child's birthday? Send a treat for the class.Never mind that you just spent a $hitload of money on their birthday anyway and your budget is blown for the month because it's Christmastime,too.Maybe I'm just being about all of it,but it just seems like a lot to ask lately.I've opted,out of the Scrooginess of my black little heart,NOT to participate in some of these delightful activities!

I still have b-day presents to wrap for the boy and Christmas presents for both,but finding the time to do that is tricky.My girl is quite the tattling little mouthpiece lately.Actually,she's just mouthy,period.I can't imagine where she got that from...*G*

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving with family and friends,and have some great books to read and the time to read them!And that your Christmas is lovely,since I might be up to my eyeballs in wrapping paper for a while *G*

To pop in and wish everyone a Happy Turkey Day! I don't say much, but I'm still around, lurking in the background (well, wouldn't you? LOOK at that guy in the background!) and keeping an eye on things from a distance.

Did six pies (for seven people!) last night; will finish the Boston Creme Pie (which is NOT a pie, doggonnit, but is my son in law's favorite "pie"). Got to make the whole cranberry sauce and the pudding and Jell-O for the boys, and the applesauce. That's tonight. Then, tomorrow, the easy stuff; turkey and the trimmings. At least most of that I can accomplish while sitting down! *G*

If you haven't yet purchased Emma's newest book, I recommend that you add it to your next book purchase. This story adds to her upyr series. If nothing else, buy it for those yummy eyes on the cover. *G*

Emma has always been able to push my buttons with her hot sex scenes, and this time is no different. The story definitely starts out hot.

The story takes place in the Middle Ages. Emma's always trying something new. The story is compelling. I couldn't put it down. I just finished it and I had to come tell everyone about it before I go peal the potatoes for our Thanksgiving dinner. I find it very hard to remember stories for any length of time any more. I may remember a scene, but the story usually escapes me after a bit. I'll be remembering this one a long time. It's new and very very different.

I want to mention that the praises for Emma's work in the front of the book has one from RBL Romantica. How great is that? *G*

What is everybody reading?? And why are all these hot new books out NOW when I don't have time to read?? Do the publishers PLAN this??

I'm reading Lynn Kurland's "Dreams of Stardust" and any book that has Robin De Piaget in it is TOPS in my book. He is one of my all time top 10 favorite characters and he is in so many books, as secondary characters, that I get to experience him quite often.

I have so many new books sitting here waiting for me to read and my home office is a mess (files not filed, stuff sitting around....), laundry is piled up, I still have not gotten my winter clothes out of the bin and hung up...and every closet is bulging with stuff that I need to sort and give to charity or throw out...ahhhhhh!

Plus I want to get ready for the holidays. I'm not cooking for Turkey day...have to work the day after. As for Christmas preparations, I'd like to get done before December gets here. One year, my hubby and I went and did our shopping *before* Thanksgiving and it was so nice NOT to have to eek time out to shop with crowds, etc., in December. This year we pretty much just have to get gift cards I think...not too much shopping involved because its a lot of kids/teens on our list, and what do they want? CASH!

Anyhow, I'll have to be stern with myself and cut back on reading until I get my chores done...(Oh Man! thats like experiencing the holidays without eating cookies...)

- Robin, I am currently reading Jillian Hunter's A Duke's Temptation. Every time a new book in a series comes out, I HAVE to get it and sit down and read it ASAP - then I usually re-read it LOL at a more relaxed pace. I just finished Stephanie Lauren's Black Cobra series - great finale to that series, and another addition to Robyn Carr's Virgin River series, and Lisa Kleypas' Christmas Eve at Friday Harbor - which is the start of a new series. I read After the Night by Linda Howard (after I saw it recommended here) and Inside Out by Lauren Dane. I shopped early for Christmas, and got that finished a week ago. Cards are all addressed and ready for mailing. Soon I'll be ordering another batch of books from these authors. I have wanted to start the J.D.       - Diane, I will say that I had to be 'pushed' into reading the In Death books and while the first few were a little violent for my delicate sensibilities (I tend to read past the murder scene descriptions), I THOROUGHLY ENJOYED EVERY BOOK IN THE SERIES. You cannot go wrong! You'll fall in love with all the characters. I got many from the UBS and had fun searching for them....there were about 20 in the series when I started. I read one a month until I caught up and enjoyed that more than reading them one after another....but thats just me. Another thing? What would RBL think about establishing an annex on Facebook? I've seen a lot of folks use facebook pages in tandem with a blog to increase awareness/traffic/keep people updated on anything newsworthy going on. I know I'm one of the offenders, but I just don't see RBLers stopping by like they used to. This is a unique online community, and I think you all deserve to be appreciated in bigger numbers! I promise to "friend" or "like" you if you set up a beachhead there. :-)

- I like the idea as I do check facebook several times a day. I know I don't post here often but I do read and love this group. What I've read so far - some great books came out this week. Robyn Carr (she's one of 3 authors - Jean Brashear and Victoria Dahl the other 2) in Midnight Kiss where she continues the Virgin River series (Erin and Marcie's brother, Drew's, romance) - great to see all the characters again (whetting my appetite for the next 3 books coming out the beginning of the year. Then I read Lisa Kleypas' Christmas Eve at Friday Harbor - a very sweet romance to the start of her new series devoted to the Nolan brothers. Great books to curl in front of a fire with! Louie, my neighbors cat, has run away from home. PLEASE pray we find him!!

He somehow got into my dh's car and must have slept in there last night. The dh drove about 6 miles to his favorite convenience store (on his way to work) for coffee this morning and when the dh opened his door to get out - Louie popped out of the car and took off. He didn't even know Louie was in there or he would have taken him back home.

He has searched, our neighbors went up and searched and then after work, I searched. Thought I saw him, called the neighbor to join me in more searching too. We put flyers up and talked to people too. Found out there are several cats that look like Louie, so I don't know if I saw him or not...

He is so sweet and loving and I hope we can find him. He was a stray that sort of adopted our neighbors, so I guess he is a survivor....but we want him back home, you know?

So please say a prayer for Louie...
