SEX/LOVE SCENE RATING
Limp=> Bad, little or NO SEX AT ALL!
Erect==> Good sex toward the end.
Boner===> Good sex half-way through and thereafter.
STIFF====> Good sexual tension throughout the book, and when it happens, you feel you've been there already.
HUGH=====> GREAT SEX in the first 1/4 of book and throughout the book.

  Have you read any of the Mike Shepherd series about Kris Longknife? It sounds a bit (from the reviews and blurbs) like the Miles series by Bujold. Anybody tried it?

  I occasionally throw in a contemporary just for a change. I just picked up Christine Warren's latest a para normal BTW. I started reading it while working out on the elliptical trainer and I really didn't want to stop when my time was up. I could sit down and read this one start to finish tonight ( if the people I work for didn't have an opinion about me sleeping at work tomorrow) Very few books have grabbed my attention right from the first like this one has.
  Has there been a book lately that just grabbed you from the first and you couldn't put the book down until it was finished?
  One more question is there a cute Christmas book, new or old you would recommend ? I'm feeling like maybe it's "almost" time to check one out.

  I'm always looking for something new to read. New authors, new ideas, etc. One of my friends (an old high school friend I hadn't seen in YEARS) stopped me the other day and we started talking about books. She loaned me a copy of a book she'd just finished - WHITE TIGER by Kylie Chan. I was just going to hang on to it for a while and return it. I usually go by RBL recommends exclusively. But I started it and couldn't put it down.
  
  Very definitely urban fantasy with an Asian flair. The romance is buried deep - but it's there. The second in the series is coming out this month - on the 25th I think. So definitely a series. It had better be since she left us hanging a bit at the end of WHITE TIGER.
  
  Just thought I'd share.

• I watched an old film this afternoon - LOVE IN THE AFTERNOON with Audrey Hepburn and Gary Cooper. I've seen that movie at least 50 times. And the ending ALWAYS has me blubbering. Got me to thinking about other movies from the past and special romantic scenes. The one with Rhett and Scarlett on the bridge in shadow and the line "Kiss me, Scarlett, kiss me." Sigh! So many wonderful movies. Most of the great soaps are disappearing. We're inundated with "reality TV" (which "I" personally think is staged AND disgusting!). Thank goodness for romance novels.   Hi All, well on October 15th of 2011 I'm getting married! I can't believe it. My fiance Don O'Connor and I are trying to finalize stuff but its been hard. I'm not sleeping even with all my pain meds and my sleeping pill. We had to put to sleep our youngest kitten two weeks ago and a bunch of other things seem to be going wrong. I would have loved to have had all of you there with me but we didn't even get our invites until yesterday. We were to have gotten married in August but them my best friend and maid of honor dropped out of the wedding and my life. She said she didn't want to be my friend anymore because she was too stressed out by me. Oh well. The bad part about the wedding thing was I had a custom maid two piece dress made up for her and its unrefundable and she didn't send out our other invites and destroyed the others. So Don & I have had to start all over again. I'm not sleeping and crying at the drop of a hat. I know its wedding stress but its also stress from my father. He has been doing very strange things in the past month and now its said he has Alzheimers. First I lose my mother this year to frontal lobe dementia and now him. Its just kinda hard to take. We decided not to postpone the wedding because we might not even have him until the rest of the year physically let alone mentally.
  
  I wish I could have sent you all invites but I no longer have any addresses and since its been 6 years since I've seen any of you I figured you all might not remember me anyway let alone be able to come being that its here in Albuquerque, not near anyone.
  
  Anyway I will post some pictures here. I'm getting my Cinderella wedding. Some of you might remember I collect all things Cinderella.
  Ok well I hope my email thing isn't causing too many problems. I'm barely on it now. I also used to be all over Facebook but haven't since posting mom's obit. I'll be getting a new email address soon.

  Hey everyone!
  
  I am beginning my 3 day weekend with a 'clean out the office day' which I haven't had for a while. This weekend will HAVE to include some outdoor activities too so I can take advantage of this nice 77 degree-forecast. I'm guessing we'll take the niece and nephew to the park and then I have to clean out my trunk/car/car windows, etc.
  
  Now back inside, I have a million things to do in the office, but it will be nice to just STAY home this weekend.
  
  Last weekend I had 5 events...and I know I'm still young and all, but thats a lot for anybody. Had 8 year old niece spend the night Friday, then took her Saturday to a kids party where they have indoor slides and things like that...then dropped her off with her mom at 2, went home to eat, then went to our other nieces 12th bday party at 3.
  
  Sunday, went to see my step dad for his bday and visit with him, then went to a friends baby shower. Did not get home til 6pm and still had to do laundry so I'd have clothes for work...what a weeekend!
  
  Am gonna try and see 'Bridesmaids' this weekend and my Aunt is taking me to breakfast on Monday morning for my birthday...so there is still plenty to do and lots of time to fit it all in.
  
  Now onto books: The latest by Linda Lael Miller. I'll post it inside so as to not SPOIL it for anyone...

  Today, read a historical book where the hero and heroine are forced to get married thru no fault of their own and he doesn't tell her, but he is a spy.... and he actually has er, 'RELATIONS' with another woman in the book (for his 'cover story'/ job) while married. I was stunned. I was outraged. (which goes to show how much I liked the heroine)
  
  I finished the book only because I figured there would be some redemption somewhere, but there wasn't enough of it for me. I'm still outaged by this.
  
  I feel like my 'happily ever after' was ripped up and then pasted back together with pieces missing.
  
  I think I am liberal sometimes, and then at other times, I am a little prudish, as in this case. I can take a man acting mean and I can take lying, stealing, etc...but unless they are 'on a break', I don't think extra-marital relations are good....and yes, I know that in that time period men had mistresses,etc... while I don't like that, this situation was different for me.
  
  So, is anything allowed as long as there is redemption at the end? Anything taboo (for you) in a book?
  
  (Out of respect, I purposely did not mention the author or title, because this is more about the situation than the book, if that makes sense....)

  Oh, I just finished the second book in the "Stormwalker" series by Allyson James and am looking forward to the third one. It has a hot (literally) guy and a kick-ass heroine, great setting in the Southwest, and super secondary characters. I recommend it if you like Urban Fantasy.

  I tried once more before going off to bed, and was finally able to program at Finite Site - so the new releases are up. Lots of our favorite authors again this month - J.D. Robb, of course, with two books coming out, and a favorite author of mine, Jo Goodman.   • I have another question too: I see Linda Howard has a new one coming out "Prey" and I am a HUGH Howard fan, but did not get her last book either because I was so turned off by her previous one (maybe called "Ice" ?     • This book is titled Prey - the blurb at Amazon says: "a smart and sexy outdoor guide and her ruggedly handsome competitor must join forces to survive—and avoid becoming what they never expected to be: PREY." Ice came out in 2009 - and I agree, at 208 pages it qualifies as a novella. Some of her other latest books are Burn, Blood Born (one novella by Howard and one by Linda Jones), and Veil of Night. My son and daughter-in-law made me a grandma in March (sweet little boy named Killian), and my daughter just announced that she is joining the Air Force. My son is also serving on active duty, and will be deploying to the ME in October. Just wanted to check in a see what everyone is reading/discussing these days. • Just finished the Jane Yellowrock series by Faith Hunter. Excellent books! A little more romance would be nice but the shape-shifter/vampire lines are interesting. I love books set in New Orleans! Anyway, I have gone through 3 books in a week so now that I am blind with eye fatigue, I can get on with my life.   • Wow. Just started POURING at 2:45 p.m. here in Sharon, MA! SO glad I'm not up at the stadium for the Kenny Chesney concert right now... although if past events are anything to go by, more than half of the fans are so loaded they won't even notice the rain. Last year, I think they arrested nearly 400 people for drunk and disorderly. Nothing like inviting 60,000 people to a town of 17,000 for a visit... I'm reading "Stork Raving Mad" by Donna Andrews.   I'm coming to you all with a quandry. A friend emailed me today asking about a book and I'm stuck, but I know you are the women to turn to with this type of a problem. Any ideas?
  
  My friend says:
  HELP! I have been racking my brain trying to think of the name of a book. I am sure either you or Christy recommended the book to me. I read it when I first started reading historicals. I remember the last scene. I am almost positive it is either Judith McNaught or Julie Garwood. At the end of the book the hero thought the heroine had died. I'm thinking his name was Rafe (but not sure) anyway when he thought she died he got drunk and for the first time cried. It seems like she was forced to marry him too. Does this ring a bell at all? I don't have all my paperback books with me and I've been going through B&N trying to jar my memory but so far nothing.

  Some of you may have heard about part of out Hwy 1 falling into the ocean there a few months back, well my son is working with the company that is shoreing up & rebuilding the road & he has a camp site right on the clift overlooking the beauitiful Pacific Ocean.. Only problem is there is NO CELL service but there is some wi-fi so I'll be taking my iPad but I have trouble posting from it can't use icons etc so I'll check facebook & e-mail's but other than that I just plan on reading & enjoying the view.*G*

  Smiling to himself, he placed a bath towel over the seat of one of the overstuffed armchairs. He adjusted the storm shutters until they covered two thirds of the window, then turned the chair to face the narrow view. Dusk had fallen as he made his preparations. A standard lamp with a pleated parchment shade lit the room behind him. Though muted, the glow would reveal him to any passerby. That was to the good. Storm hoped he'd be seen. In fact, his erection stretched a good half-inch at the prospect. He did not, however, wish to be obvious about it.
  
  This is the beginning of one of my favorite scenes.
