SEX/LOVE SCENE RATING
Limp=> Bad, little or NO SEX AT ALL!

STIFF====> Good sexual tension throughout the book, and when it happens, you feel you've been there already.
HUGH=====> GREAT SEX in the first 1/4 of book and throughout the book.

Did any of you see the article in the news about Amazon deleting books off of people's Kindles? It was the same AP story on all of the news services. Here is the Fox link:

Orwell's '1984' and 'Animal Farm' Deleted From Kindles

I can understand piracy, illegal copies and Amazon's position on all that. Valid. I understand Amazon removing the books from their store.

What creeps me out is Amazon accessing customer's Kindels and removing books without permission. That is just too '1984' for me. Rather ironic the two books in question.

I'd like to know what the rest of you think...

    - No Kindle books can't be read on anything but a kindle but so far I've found that I can get anything I want from one of the other e-book sites & it's getting better & better...*G* And if they have this kind of control why would I want to spend my money with them only to have them decide to take it away at a later date...       - Yeah...and now, most of the other ebook sites have WAY more selection than the Kindle selection. AND...they're available sooner, generally on release day...whereas sometimes Kindle won't come out for a month or so after release date. This happened most recently with Rachel Gibson's latest. - If I was a kindle owner and that happened to me I would be beyond ticked. I can understand them taking it down from the store if that's what they choose to do but them taking off of someone's kindle is like them taking it off of my bookshelf and leaving me a couple of bucks for it. Even if they paid me back that doesn't make it right. What they should have done is informed the people about what happened and let them know that if they deleted it from their kindle catalog that they would be refunded, not take the choice from them. - I heard about this, and quite honestly, it scared me. The fact that they can just go into YOUR piece of hardware and remove something is just abhorent to me. Like Leiha mentioned...if they wanted it back because they made an error, then send me an email and "I" will remove it (after I received the credit). - There was another story about a guy who somehow violated Amazon's rules about returns or something - they not only disabled his account, they disabled his Kindle and made it impossible to access books he'd bought and paid for. Hey everyone, happy Saturday!

Leiha (and anyone else who wants to chime in), you once recommended some Mary Balogh books to me. I just read "A Summer to Remember" with Lauren and Kit (my first Balogh book) and it was okay, but what fascinated me was the Bedwyns! I see that I already have 2 of the 6 in the "Slightly" series, but you know that Wolfric is the one I want!! LOL (Okay, Rannulf looks like he could entertain me well for a few hours too...)

Do I HAVE to read them in order? Do I have to read them all??? I guess what I mean is, are Rannulf and Wolfric featured so much in the others that I'll miss stuff if I skip right to their books?

I have the newest Lindsey here to start, and if I can fit in some read-time between cleaning the house and having a neighborhood party tonight, I'll be good to go!

Hi, I'm back from a computer crash where I lost the listing for all my favorite websites. Have a new lap top, and I've been trying to backtrack for quite some time. Finally found you ladies again! Stephanie Laurens wraps up her Bastion Club series with Daziel's story. The novel is due for release July 28. I've read the first chapter's preview on her website, and I've been able to find many reviews which say the book is outstanding - "what a romance novel should be. The cover art looks wonderful. I've been wondering who the cover models are - anyone know who the male and female are on the cover? (Gawd I missed all the great wallpapers in this website!)

Robin's post below has me asking - how many of you have an ereader. Which brand and model. What do you and don't you like about it. Such as can you read in the dark without bothering someone else? Is the screen large enough? light enough to hold in one hand? Can you read pdfs? Would you buy the same model again? Or change to something else.

I am planning to buy one in two weeks. As soon as I know they didn't mess up my promotion pay. I'm planning on getting the Sony 700. Reading at night is one of my top requirements. My husband is bothered by a nightlight.

- I have a CyBook it isn't backlit which they say is bad for the eyes & I have a lightwedge which is great for paper books or e-reader. I'd buy the same again unless I found something else that's compatible with a Mac that I liked better. It's 6.13 oz & is very easy to read. I am very happy with it. - I have a Kindle and love it! Except for one thing--the file management system. I can only sort by title, author, or date added and I want folders so I can sort out the books I've read from the unread, the fiction from the non-fiction, etc. Would I buy it again? I don't know. Small print and a book question -- ROBIN , Sunday, July 12, 12:23:07pm
What is the deal with all this small print??? I'm so tired of getting a book and seeing all the small print. I bought a hardback and didn't check the print size, but its SMALL. The only good thing is that there is more space between the lines, so it makes it easier, but after looking at a computer all dern day, I don't want SMALL print in my books. I actually bought a few large print books from the UBS, but everything doesn't come in that size.

The bad part is: I already wear glasses!!! But I notice if I hold the book farther away from me, I don't squint and can see better. My arms aren't like Stretch Armstrong though, so....I told my doctor about this and he thinks I may have to change up my glasses this year...

So does anyone else care about the size of the print or is it just me?

Also, another book question: Breakpoint, A High Risk Novel JoAnn Ross: Air Force Combat Controller Dallas O'Halloran has a reputation as a hell-raising lady-killer. But he's also fiercely loyal. - Robin, I won't be so vulgar as to ask your age. But, somewhere between 40 and 50 arms start getting too short. I recently read that there are exercises which can help, but I really don't know a thing about it. I like the feature of IE7 and up with which you can control the text size on the screen. - One word...EREADER! I just recently had to get "reading glasses" and they are very uncomfortable for someone who has never worn glasses. My Ereader solves that problem...I just make the font bigger. At this point...if the book doesn't come as an ebook...I don't even buy it...well, there are some exceptions if one of my fav authors has a book out and it's not in ebook form, then I'll buy the tree book. I haven't read Joann Ross, but go to "www.fantasticfiction.co.uk" and you can find authors books and what the series are. Looks like this JR book is #4 in the High Risk series.   - You don't "NEED" it for e-books but it makes it nice to carry them with you rather than to try & read them from the computer.... I LOVE mine! There are several different kinds out there Heather & Ann have the Sony & I have the CyBook. The Sony isn't compatible with Mac's so thats why I have a different one. - Sorry to hear about the eye troubles, Robin. Bo hit it on the head: Publishers are trying to cut printing costs, so they're shrinking the size of the font to be able to print books that have the full story but in fewer pages. The publisher who prints my historicals keeps shrinking the maximum page count of their books, so unless I want to cut cut cut, my print in those stories has to be TINY. I'm sorry about that! Lin, thanks for still reading my historicals. They're supposedly on their way to being Kindle-ized, but only SURRENDER and UNTAMED are on Kindle at this point. - I don't have an ereader, but my laptop works great with Adobe..and changing the font is a breeze. It's not as lightweight as an Ereader, true..but it's the next best thing. I read a LOT of Ebooks because I'm a romance book reviewer and 99% of books are all in PDF format. I think Ebooks are finally coming into their own.... Good luck with whatever you do! Okay, so I have a book questions and where would I go to ask, but here, to the experts!

I like Sherilyn Kenyon's writing but have not been into para for a while now. What is this BAD series and is it para? Bureau of American Defense I think? It sounds like I should be getting these but I don't want para, so can someone help me out?

- The older ones (several anthologies and I think one full length book) are pretty light and "pretty" for lack of a better term, but still fun reads. I hope you all get to spend some time with family & friends,stuffing your faces with BBQ & other traditional picnic-type munchies.I keep smiling when I think of making S'mores,then have a slight twinge of guilt.Then I laugh that right off *G*

We are going camping,and it has been an insane scramble to get everything ready! Hubs is out getting the last-minute crap done as I type this.Procrastination is alive and well in this house,LOL.This will be the first camping trip for Brenna,and probably my first since having her.I have to say,I actually kind of like tent camping better,but a motorhome has cabinets and shelves to keep little girl's hands from grabbing whatever & whenever.

Haven't had much time to read or even play on the 'net these days.When I do pick up a book,it's along the lines of Charlotte's Web & Old Yeller *G* My son is greedy for stories & I'm happy to indulge him,since he starts school in just a couple months!I'm really proud of the progress he's making & he constantly surprises me.I was glad to move on to something besides Cat in the Hat,and I've kept most of my books from when I was a kid.Being able to read to him from a book my Grandma gave me back in '81 was neat,although I am worried that they'll fall apart.I did sneak in a chapter or two of a Lindsey yesterday.HOORAY *G*

So I've been rereading SEP's Chicago Stars Series. I've read them all, and reread most of them as well as listened to them on CD - but I never read them all in a row. She published the first one, IT HAD TO BE YOU, in 1994 and the last one, NATURAL BORN CHARMER, in 2007 (the others, in order, are: HEAVEN TEXAS, NOBODY'S BABY BUT MINE, DREAM A LITTLE DREAM, THIS HEART OF MINE, and MATCH ME IF YOU CAN) - and I've had such fun reading them one after another, as the characters continue from one book to the next, the kids begin to grow up ... all the things that make sequels fun to read. And I'd forgotten how funny SEP can be - lots of laugh out loud moments.

Has anyone read Jill Shalvis? Will anyone share opinions? July is The Month of Signings in my shop. I don't know exactly how I managed it, but Annie's Book Stop in Sharon, MA is having three, count 'em three, autograph parties in July! I keep looking over my shoulder for the guys with the big butterfly nets and the jacket with the really, really long sleeves. I'm theming the month as "Saluting our local best - local bookstore, local authors". Anybody think of any other taglines that might sound good (or, please, better!) than that? Hellllppp!

July 11th, we're hosting five authors... Hannah Howell, Leeann Burke, Jessica Anderson, Maureen Fisher, and JM Griffin.

July 18th, there'll be two authors... Dalton Diaz and Ashlyn Chase, both from Ellora's Cave.

And on July 25th, new author Jan Bornstein will be visiting.

All signings will be from 1-3, and will include lots and lots of chatter and plenty of home-made goodies. If any of you are in the area one of these weekends, please drop by and say hello!

ARC Review of Breaking Midnight by Emma Holly -- Bo, Friday, June 26, 07:00:14pm
First off,if you haven't picked up Kissing Midnight yet,the first in this new series,you still have time-Breaking comes out on July 7th! What ARE you waiting for???

This book picks up perfectly from where Kissing Midnight left off,with even more intensity! Edmund is put to the test in so many ways,and everything he is capable of,whether in rage or love,is just amazing.

The relationship between Edmund & Estelle continues to grow and strengthen,and Emma's clever and creative way of maintaining their strong sexual and emotional connection definitely makes for a book that's impossible to put down!

I also enjoyed the chemistry between Graham,Edmund's eldest son,and Pen Anderson,the daughter of Graham's old boss.Pen is not without her own secrets,her own skills in the spying game.I LOVED watching them tap dance around each other with barbs and lust until they couldn't stand it any more.Their interactions were witty and daring and some of THE hottest in the book.

Pen's camaraderie with Ben,Edmund's younger son,was delightful to read,also.They make a good team and had some action-packed scenes that would have made Wyatt Earp & Doc Holliday proud.

This book made me tear up a little,too.To see the depths of compassion,to see how far Edmund has come,the way he cares for his family & Estelle and is loved in return is just heartwarming.

Emma creates wonderful villains,also.The kind you just love to hate,that you want to see get what's coming to them.In Li-Hua and Frank,she's created a deliciously evil pair that are absolutely fascinating.I was horrified and enthralled,all at once.They are sexy and scary,and the people they're trying to work with,oh boy.They do manage to turn one of their associates against them,however.BIG mistake.Durand is mysterious and dangerous,and,best of all-TORTURED! YUM. I just love tortured men *G*

Overall,Emma has written a book that is hot, funny,thrilling and tender.I feel like I went on an exciting journey,and there were so many wonderful parts that I don't where to to begin telling you all! Thanks Emma!

So, we're in Union Station in DC -- Ronlyn, Sunday, June 28, 07:45:43am
and we're there SUPER early in the morning (think 6 am) so nothing is really open yet. Scott (my DH) and I are wandering around and he points out these cool Roman guard statues that line the main terminal area. A few minutes later I find a sign thing talking about them, about how they were originally done as full nudes, and shields were added later as modesty panels. So, I wonder out loud if I stand to the side if I can see behind the shield...which I discover after freaking a few security bpeople out by moving at wierd angles around the room, that YEP! You CAN see behind those modesty shields. Scott took a photo. But, not for me, for LEIHA! LMAO!
So, yeah, Leiha, I have a photo for you, we'll have to plan a dinner again soon. LOL

  - We had a great time in DC. Even though it was HOT. I'm not used to that type of heat. LOL. Tuesday we went through the White House and went to the Museum of Nat'l History, then Thursday it was just me & Scott so we did the Hop on Hop off bus tour and hit the Air & Space museum, Spy museum, Crime & Punishment museum, the Hard Rock for lunch...it was a BLAST! DC is a magical place. And I'm not just saying that because of the nudie statues & the Marines doing PT (oo RAH! Scott wouldn't take a pic of them for me) but the whole city is so cool. Hey girls! Sorry it took me so long to respond to all the wonderful welcomes. :) I had to go home and visit with a brand new baby cousin (Violet Grace, 7lbs 2ozs, 20inches long). A few of my favorite authors are Mary Janice Davidson, Karen Moning, Janet Evanovich, and Jane Graves- just to name a few. Let's see.... I'm majoring in Archaeology and minoring in Film & Journalism. I tend to daydream alot... especially in math...hmmm... lol. Recently I have been trying to work out five times a week, it usually happens only about 2 times a week, but i think about it the other 3 days... that counts, right? lol. Oooh I love Jane Graves' first series about the 3 brothers, (I got you babe was one, Flirting with Disaster was another, and I've forgotten the title of the 3rd one). I don't like her smaller series romances (but I don't like any of those anymore cuz they just don't have enough time to give me the emotional connection I need).
