Now this is a possitive thread that makes you think and hopefully understand. I totally respect Cheryl and her experience and agree with everything she said. I understand David very well as our backgrounds seem similar with farming and raising animals and also agree totally with him. Dan I believe is right there with us, but just didn't love David's perceived tone. If anyone wishes to call me KBHARBERT, I will gladly except that compliment. When I became aware of myself as a child we had all types of farm animals and dogs. This continued until I started my own family and I raised my 2 boys on fresh cow's milk with the cream left in just for them etc. right up until today I have had every type of animal available to me. Or Maybe I counted wrong and repeated it 35 or 40 times so I could mix up a hypocrit or two. What I am trying to say is necessity is the Mother/Father of invention, maybe John knows which parent is responsible. Culling is one of THE MOST necessary responsibilties any animal breeder has. You just do not pass along to people or the next generation of animals problems that arrise from your breeding, no matter the animal. The severity of the problem will dictate what is necessary, but ultimately the decision is the breeder's, not any organization and no matter how many laws are passed otherwise, A good responsible breeder will do what is necessary for his animals. This is NOT cruelty, This is the strongest form of love and respect for the animal. Do you think I wanted to spay my 3 females?? or have lots of money to buy dog food for them. All I ever wanted and bought was a Brindle male and 2 Brindle females. I have Duncan and the rest are sterilized. There is no money to be made over expenses breeding Boerboels Ethicly. If one day out there one person says to another I have a Davis Boerboel and it has one of the best and cleanest bloodlines around, Then my goal to help the Boerboel survive and improve will be met. Sorry to be so long. Ed
