Well I don't blame you for getting discouraged. Tell me something. Are you taking female hormones in the form of birth control pills or hormone replacement therapy?

These can sometimes totally screw up any chance of this diet working. I had a friend who was on HRT, and she lost five pounds and then didn't seem to lose anything after that. She finally gave up. It confused me though so I went searching for an answer as to why she couldn't lose this way (when my weight had dropped away like crazy).

Atkins says that taking female hormones can cause the diet not to work.

Now assuming that isn't the case with you, what else could be wrong? How many carbs a day are you eating? Are you using the snack bars? drinks? Are you taking your measurements and trying on smaller clothes?

Some people don't lose weight (per se) on this diet, but do drop inches. It is important to have more than one way of measuring your progress. In my case I lost a lot of weight at the beginning and then nearly nothing in the following two years, but my measurements changed by 23.5 inches.

The guys on my muscle and weight lifting board suggested that I had probably dropped 15 pounds of fat and gained 10 pounds of muscle over that time period, to account for so dramatic of a size (but not weight) change.

Report back and let us know what you are eating. The Atkin's bars stalled me and they do others. Some artificial sweeteners stop some people as well. Other than that be patient. You will likely have a big whoosh all at once if you are staying in ketosis and doing as well as you think you are.
