You sound like you could easily make your goal by August. 3 more pounds isn't all that much to lose.

20 pounds in two months is unrealistic for most of us who have been on the diet for awhile, but for someone just starting out, it isn't that impossible. I started my diet at the end of March of 2000 and lost 13.5 pounds in the first week and a half. The two weeks before that I had somehow almost by accident lost an additional four pounds so I was weighing 17.5 pounds less in about a month. I'm not sure what I lost in the next month, but I'm sure it was probably at least 3 more pounds. The weight came off really rapidly back then.

Now it doesn't want to come off at all, and when it does, a little bit of cheating and it is right back on again.

Excercise: You work out five times a week? It sounds like what you are doing is mostly aerobics. But I'm not real clear on what Tae Bo is. Generally for any muscle building excercises (like weight lifting), you aren't supposed to work out that often. At least not do the same routine that often. You are supposed to allow your muscles a day to heal between workouts. If you are working different muscle groups on different days then those can be healing while you work a new group the next day, but otherwise you defeat your progress by doing it too often.

At least that is what I have heard. I have been lifting weights since the beginning of last month and I usually work out every other day. Some days I take an extra day or two of rest in between. I seem to notice when I do that, that when I start lifting again, I can increase the weights because the earlier one has become too easy.

What happens is that you tear muscle fibers (little tiny tears). When you rest you allow those tears to heal, and that creates scar tissue which makes you stronger. If you do it too often you don't become stronger but weaker. That rest period is very important for that reason.

Your low energy levels may be due to too much aerobic type excercise. (I'm not big on aerobics anyway). Muscle building excercises like weights done properly will probably give you more energy.

Make sure you are eating enough calories (12 times your current body weight). Drink your water, take vitamins and minerals (I particularly like the B vitamins, and calcium, magnesium and potassium for the minerals).

You are doing GREAT! keep up the good work.
