Subject: I think I need help...

I have been doing this WOE for a month now & had lost 6 lbs, but last Friday (only weigh on Fridays) I gained one back. I have NOT cheated at all & I've been staying on induction (less than 20 carbs--a couple of days I did go up to 23 though). Is it possible to not lose on this diet even though I'm doing things right? I have read all of the Atkins book & am following it as it suggests. I have also taken my measurements & have lost 4" total in the last month. Can I lose inches & not weight? Will the weight eventually come off? I'm not planning on stopping this WOE because I feel so much better & have more energy than ever before. I just want some reassurance I guess. Thanks!

It is possible to lose inches and not weight, particularly if you are gaining muscle (because muscle is heavier than fat). Going up one pound isn't anything to worry about, it could be extra salt caused extra water retention that day. -- Sherry, 07:54:21 06/10/02 Mon
It's normal to have a "pause" after induction. Also, if you're body had been deprived of protein prior to changing to this WOE, your body will be busy building new muscle. This muscle gain can mask fat loss. Since you started recently, take your measurements now, so that you can track your progress more readily. (NT) -- Katie, 08:29:13 06/10/02 Mon

        This may sound strange, but I understand what you mean about "floppy" fat. That's usually what happens to me right before that area gets smaller. A while ago, it was these two little chunks on my butt, then it was a little chunk on each thigh. I checked a couple of days later and the little floppy section was gone.
