Subject: Jazpurr's Story

Mona remembers but I'm not sure if you all know this....

8 years ago I saw an ad in the local paper by the local vet saying someone had dropped off a kitten there and they were looking for that person.

I called to see what the story was.

This little guy had been left between the door and storm door sometime in the night and had stayed in that cramped space till morning with a broken leg.

I asked about his injury and they said that he wasn't in any pain so they weren't going to fix it. If the people that dropped him off didn't claim him they would keep him as an office cat but they wouldn't fix the leg cause they weren't in the chaity business.

I was hot now! I told them I would take him. They said they needed to wait a vertain length of time for the owners to claim him. I said I would still take him and if someone came forward I would let them have him (yea right, like I would do that and someone would actually claim him)

Finally I called the all the shelters near me and asked them if a vet keeping a cat with a broken leg and not fixing it was abuse and they all agreed with me. I then called the State Licensing Board and filed a complaint. Then I called the Sheriff and reported a case of animal neglect. Well, they let me have him. The next day he was at my vets for surgery. They had to rebreak the leg as it was knitting but he came home in a little blue cast. It was so pathetic but he was a trooper. He healed well but always acted like that leg was stiff.

He loved belly rubs, I'd pet him and he'd duck his head and with his head on the floor would flop down on his back for a rub. He was the only cat I've ever had that only sat in my lap as though he was straddling a tree branch. Didn't look comfy but guess it was.

You've got angels at your beck and call Sweet One. Get all the belly rubs you need till I get there and then I'll take over.

Give purrs, whisker kisses and headbutts to Priss, Max, Sammy, PeeWee, Bandit, Oliver, Sadie, P.J., Shami and Izzy.

Love you.

Mom
