Okay, we're home from the vet's office. The first blood glucose that Chicory had done over 3 weeks ago was 597. After being on the Purina DM since then, today it was 372.........better but still not great. Glucose needs to be between 80-120 but Dr. Larry said they wouldn't panic at a 200. So Chicory's now officially on insulin. Denise, I'm not going to have time today to get to the diabetic board and start posting but I figured I'd pass along the info and see if you had any words of wisdom to offer. The insulin is PZI and Ken's to give him 2 units (.05cc) once per day after he eats, preferably at the same time every morning. And we were both shown how to give the injections so I can be backup for Ken if need be. Between the insulin, the office visit, the lab work and then running to the pharmacy for the syringes, I'm now about $150 poorer but what the hey? It's only money, right?|
