Hope you all had a nice day yesterday. I have a post Thanksgiving headache. Need to clean floors but don't feel like it. Yesterday was OK till my dad showed up. He said he wouldn't be there and then showed up and was "not so great" (to put it niceley) Seems like a lot of work for such a short time. Neither of my sisters helped clean up, one is always the first to leave and the other stays till the end but doesn't lift a finger to help set up or clean up. My DIL and mom and I did most everything. grrrrrr!!!! Family can be really great but family can really stink sometimes too! Have a nice weekend! -- Piggy's Pad

Denise, I'm so sorry to hear that your Thanksgiving turned out to be so crappy. I have to claim ignorance here and I'm sorry if this is too personal, but do you not have a good relationship with your Dad? And are your parents' togther or divorced? You don't have to answer if you'd rather not. As for the cleanup, I can relate. One of the last times I had Thanksgiving dinner at my parent's house, my sister and my mother went outside, while I cleaned the entire dining room and got all of the dishes loaded into the dishwasher, hand washing everything that wouldn't fit. When my sister came back inside, she feigned surprise that I'd done it all. Yeah, right!! I hope your headache is gone by now. I had one this morning but it disappeared with the first cup of coffee. Sandy, my dad is a cold fish and also selfish and self absorbed. He and mom divorced when I was 18 or 19, he was married to a woman just like himself for 20 some years and the last 4 years he has "dated". By "date" I mean he takes them all over the world and pays for everything so we can't be sure what they really see in him, if they truely care or if they see him as a cash cow. He gets to know those womans families better than his own. On Thanksgiving day no one expected him cause he said he had plans and then wehn he showed up it was late and he only spoke to a few people. He and I have always butted heads cause I'm the only one that will tell him what I think. Since my older sister moved here she's been kissing up and losing some of the attention was good cause he could be a pest but now he never calls or stops here. We hadn't spoken since June 14. He pulled a few really cruddy things on a couple of us then and chooses to remain an ass. I've always wanted a better relationship but when he's either poopy or away it's kind of hard. Thats too bad. I'm sorry. Well no matter what, at least one good thing came from your dad, and it's YOU! I miss my dad so much. It's times like this when I hear how horrible other parent are, that I count my blessing because both of my parent are/were great. No complaints whatsoever, except I wish I had more time. My mom is getting a bit loopy now and it's hard, but I try to remember the old days. And you mom is such a sweetie, so darn nice. How did she end up iwth your dad? Anyway, I AM sorry.
