In reply to: D 's message, "Did this happen in the yard or in the house? I feel for Bohdi but it would be so hard to relax wondering if it would happen again. Any chance he is ill?" on 9:07:05 am, Tue, 12/11/07

and I was trying to get them separated and one of them in the house, and it finished up in my kitchen.

Bodhi has hips from hell... loses function in his left rear leg a lot, but otherwise is healthy... no thyroid or any other type of issues. I had kept him because of his hip issues.... they are too severe to fix, and nobody wanted to adopt a lame dog with a limited life span.

He's always had periodic issues with other male dogs, but never had a fight this severe. It's never been bad enough that I couldn't take care of it myself.... He's fought with other fosters, and with Harley in the past. It'd been over a year since he and Harley had had any issues, so I let my guard down.

Goose and Bodhi used to be best friends, but they got into it a couple months ago and now Goose hates him.

The fighting is escalating in severity and frequency with him tho.... and some of it is most likely pain related cuz of his hips. I think when he is trying to play with the boys, he starts hurting, and blames them so to speak, and attacks.

It's obvious he's part lab... but I think the other part is pit. Nothing against pits, I know they can be total sweethearts... but when he gets angry and attacks, he has jaws of steel and doesn't let up. Pits are known for dog aggression.... they were bred that way. They are so sweet with people tho, if bred right and treated right. He is a total love with me. That's why this is so hard... I look into his soulful brown eyes that are so full of love and devotion to his mom, and can't bear thinking of putting him down.

My vet has said he will probably have a short lifespan cuz the pain will too much to treat eventually..... but he just turned 3, and I wasn't prepared to have to deal with that so young..... :(

I can no longer responsibly adopt him out tho.... not with his bite history. We just don't know if it could ever escalate to humans/children if the pain got bad enough.
