This is actually the first time I've tested it since we had the new "Prime Cell" system installed (this one uses cell technology so you don't have to have a land line). I called Protection One and had them walk me through a test and it was so funny.............the minute the siren started to wail, all 6 cats went scrabbling for cover, leaving claw marks on the floor. Oh, geez, Kate, thank you SO much for reminding me. I *always* change our batteries when we change time but I'm making out the grocery list right now and I need to add batteries to the list. Actually, should the alarm go off, it automatically calls a "Call Center," and they call to make sure the call is legit. Then they call the police or fire department, depending on what's going off here at home. There IS a panic code on the panel that goes immediately to the police department with no call center intervention first. We had our first alarm system installed in '94, when the couple next door separated after he got involved in drugs. I'll tell ya, that was scary. I ended up skulking around at night, getting license plate numbers and that kind of stuff, for the police but it still took two years to get him out of here.
