Subject: I would have thought that they would have stayed on top of things, especially since this was their retirement home, but there was so much *stuff.* And the attic was full. Explain to me, please, why someone would keep a lawnmower engine? Not the entire mower, just the engine. I guess Dad felt that he'd get to it "one day" but as we all know, one day almost never comes. A person has to be realistic. That's part of the reason why I've become almost obsessed with minimalism. I never want to put my kids through that. As it is, there will still be plenty of stuff for them to take care of.
In reply to: Sandy 's message, "I'm sorry to hear this too, Vicki, but at least he has some time to get things taken care of and cleaned up. And that's so important. My parents had plenty of time to plan (and my dad was almost obsessive about planning) but when he got sick and my mother was totally unable to cope, I was amazed at the mess we had to clean up." on 10:08:13 am, Sat, 09/29/07
