This "is" strange! I guess it just goes to show you that you never, ever really *know* people, even if you think you do. I wonder if she's still working at the same office or if she's walked away from her entire life. It sounds like this whole situation caught her husband off guard, and for that, I feel sorry for him. Kind of a "been there, done that" kind of thing. One thing I've learned is that if you give people long enough and give them enough rope, they'll most often live *down* to your expectations. They'll lie, cheat on their husbands and just all round prove their paranoia and neurosis. But don't let it get to you, Kate. When it's not your problem and you can't control it, try to laugh. I'm not saying that you shouldn't feel for her husband and/or wonder what happened, but since you can't control it, say a prayer for them and mentally wish them well and then say goodbye and move on. she retired from her job last Spring....
actually Sandy, I got off the phone and DID laugh!! I'm really not worried about it at all...it was just strange having Tom tell me she left him!! I hope she does get in contact with me, but if she doesn't that is fine too...like I said, we weren't exactly "close friends" just acquaintences that have kept in touch via e-mails and letters over the years....
