I'm rebiulding my 750 double pump mechanical secondaries list#4779-6 2846 and I've had it taken apart for awhile and can't remember if a check ball is supposed to go under the needle valve under the squirter. I didn't think it had a check ball to begin with but then I got to looking at the instruction diagram that came with the rebiuld kit and it shows a check ball on the bottom, pump check ball weight in the middle, and then finally the needle valve on top, but then again this diagram is probably for a different style carb.

WE MAY BE ABLE TO ELIMINATE THE 50/50 WEIGHT RULE FOR NEXT YEAR, JUST HIT THE WEIGHT REQUIREMENTS AND BE ON 26X8.5'S.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT~ 5.20'S FOR THE CLASS IS PLENTY FAST FOR RIGHT NOW, CALM THE FUCK DOWN GUYS!! WE DON'T WANT TO DISCOURAGE NEW CARS FROM TRYING OUT THE CLASS.

WHAT WOULD YOU GUYS THINK IF WE ADD A RULE -ANY CAR GOES IN THE TEENS GETS A 100# THE NEXT ROUND..... WE GOTTA PULL UP JUST A BIT.. SURLY WE'RE CLOSE TO BEING ON THE TIRE- YOU GUYS ARE FREEKING ME OUT!!

I dont know about yall but what we saw this weekend in Mississippi with a SB nitrous Mustang with a single carb and no wheelie bars running at 3150#'s run a 5.25. That would of been a record setting pass at any other event and these SB guys down here wanting to run at 2900#'s. Just doesnt make sense!
We are showing up at 3350#'s and NO wheelie bars so all the crying will stop, lets make this class interesting.

We pulled the oil pan off to fix it from the wheel stand, pulled mains and rod caps. Everything looks absolutely perfect, good as new. Pulled valve covers, checked timing, checked leak down found nothing. Me and Daniel did finally recap and thought about everything we changed the pass before, spark plugs is all. Something so simple, but he thought i gapped them and i thought he gapped them. Needless to say we checked the gap today, .030-.032 on all of them we needed the gap to be at .016-.018.

SAM, JUSTIN AND BUTTAFUCCO ARE STILL IN AND I THINK THE GUY FROM UP NORTH THAT RAN THE 5.29.. TRIANGLE SPEED HURT THE MOTOR AND KENNY STOOD IT ON THE BACK BUMPER - SPARKS OFF THE PARACHUTE MT, CAME DOWN AND KNOCKED OFF THE FRONT BUMPER -ANYWAY THE IRONMAN IS OUT! THATS ALL I GOT!!

A 70ISH NOVA RUNS 5.20'S BEST OF 5.30 TODAY -STANDING IT ON THE BACK BUMPER ON 26X8.5 SLICKS, WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT IT WOULD BE POSSIBLE ON THAT SMALL OF A TIRE!!

TRIANGLE YOU GUYS GOT 1 WEEKS TO FIX THE MOTOR!!

Thanks Joe we had a good time. We unloaded sat. and made 3 or 4 test hits and could not make one pass down the track. We had to back it down to go down the track, then it started to click. We made it down the right lane when no one else could. We even had lane choice in the final and took the right lane, and made our fastest pass to date. It was a close race, glade we have good mph.

you must work in HISD.....
if it weighs 16 0z, it will weigh 16 oz at 0 feet (ground not counting any elevation above sea level) or 219 feet above ground 0. weight is mass * Gravity, and the change in gravity between ground 0 and 219 feet in the air is negligble, since the mass is constant, then the weight is the same.

now for velocity. when it hits at ground 0, the velocity will be 0 as all the energy will have been expended. now it will have some value of velocity that is higher just before hitting the ground. now all this takes into account that the ground will absorb all the energy and not move megatively ( below ground) and that all forces are fully negated at impact.

as for the velocity just prior to hitting the ground it will be about 3.2 feet per second. simple high school physics.

I smoothed my firewall with marinetex and featherfill primer. Everything went good but before I strarted to paint I noticed some small cracks in the featherfill and one pretty long one. I'm hoping it did this because of my cage bars running through the firewall were such a tight fit running through the firewall it caused the sheetmetal to tweak pulling it in and out of the garage and therefore cracking the featherfill. Anyway I got the dremel and clearanced an 1/8 inch ill the way around the bars so hopefully no more cracking. My question is do the make something like a putty or something for cracks like these to be filled and is it a common occurence for this type of primer to crack like this?

LAST SATURDAY @ HMP WAS ONE OF THEM STANDOUT MOMENTS- VETERAN DRAG RACER JOE PIGFORD RAN A RECORD SETTING 4.57 WITH HIS TPSA PONTIAC, BACKED IT UP WITH A 4.59! I DON'T KEEP UP A LOT WITH THE TPSA BUT I SPY ON 'EM FROM TIME TO TIME. THESE GUYS RUN ALL MOTOR. THERE HAS BEEN A PRETTY GOOD BATTLE GOING ON BETWEEN NRC AND REHER MORRISON. MR JOE RUNS REHER HORSEPOWER AND LARRY PIERCE RUNS NRC HORSEPOWER. NOT TO LEAVE OUT THE REST OF THE GUYS BUT RIGHT NOW I THINK THESE TWO ARE THE FRONT RUNNERS.

I TALK TO JEFF AND SLICK RICK FROM NRC WHEN I SEE THEM AT THE TRACK, SORTA KEEP UP WITH THE HOUSTON SIDE OF THE TPSA.. SLICK HAD THE HOT HAND BUT NOW SEEMS MORGAN FROM REHER HAS PULLED IN A SLIGHT LEAD WITH PIGFORDS 4.57 @ 152 AND CHANGE.... SO WHATS UP FOR NEXT YEAR GUYS??? IS THE BATTLE GOING TO CONTINUE IN THE TPSA WARZ??

I REALLY DON'T KNOW MR. JOE BUT I GOTTA SEND OUT MY PROPS, CONGRATULATIONS ON THE RECORD RUN!... I REMEMBER A FEW YEARS BACK WHEN "SPOT" WITH REHER & MORRISON HP WOULD COME RUN WITH THE TPSA, RAN SOME HIGH 4.80'S - I FIGURED THAT WAS GONNA BE ABOUT IT, BOY WAS I WRONG.

MR JOE SAID, " Dave Reher,Brad Morgan,Darin Morgan, and all the guys at Reher's deserve the lion's share of the credit for our performance, can't thank them enough."

I GOT MY BUDS AT NRC BUT THE TEAM @ REHER AND MORRISON ARE TEXAS BOYS, HEY THAT SORTA SOFTENS THE STING SOME, LOL.

ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVORITE FAVORITES HOTRODS WAS A BB/A PIGFORD RAN FOR ABOUT A YEAR A FEW YEARS BACK.. I AIN'T EXACTLY SURE BUT IT WAS A BLOWN SB CHEVY, MAYBE A 14/71 BLOWER -BLOWER WAS AS BIG AS THE MOTOR AND ABOUT 300 CUBIC INCHES. I SAW IT RUN AT HOUSTON RACEWAY ONE NITE, JOE MUSTA SHIFTED ABOUT 11,000 RPMS WITH THE BLOWER SCREAMING AND THE SB CHEVY SCREAMING IS WAS A SOUND TO BE RECON WITH!! WITH JUST A FEW OUTINGS IT WAS FULL SECOND UNDER THE RECORD! I HAD NEVER HEARD OF SHATTERING A RECORD LIKE THAT!!! SEE YOU TPSA GUYS IN THE LANES, THANKS FOR THE FUN!

Congrats go out to Sam and his crew, enjoy it while it last, it's an ever changing record as of lately.

I have a 400 ci sbc with a BDS gas 8-71 blower in a 2100 lb s10 on metanol i have been 4.80 at 150 with a 1.13 60ft on a very mild tune up and a power glide transmission. Roots type blowers are very easy to make power with but you need a good crank shaft with a big block sized crank snout if you want alout of boost im 20% overdriven makes about 12 lbs of boost

Don't put a baby blower on it, they look gay. Do yourself a favor and get a 1471. You can fit a crab cap dist. under it and use a 7AL box. I made over 2000 HP like that. You will have to stay on top of that smallblock, get an oberg oil filter and check it every couple of rounds. Blowers are hard on rod bearings.

First glad Frankie is ok but they was right for not letting the truck go down the track I think now because there were Kids on the back of the truck I think I might be wrong but not letting Paul go down on the Scooter excuse me try to stop Paul from going down the track on the scooter and by the way anybody miss that was the funniest Shit I ever seen at a Race track I was in the staging lanes so I caught the ass end of it with Paul dragging Jessie down the track like a Stunt Show can't wait to see that on You Tube but I think it didn't have to go that far. And the scooter was driving the centerline where it should be - no sure who the dumb shit was who was hanging on, but he almost lost it when he let go - could have been another injury

Joe was looking for a reason in the left lane but didnt find anything that caught his attention, he spent some time looking - Didnt see anyone else putting much of an eyeball on the track, looked like Joe was looking out for the racers

Just an opinion but looked like the Pro Mods were having trouble holding the track, right on the traction line, the Pro Stock guys were a bit below the line. Not much sun to heat the track earlier.

Just an opinion

I agree it was bullshit not letting Frankie's crew go down the track, but rules are rules.. as far as the guy in the red that works for HMP wanting to fight everyone. He was VERY close to having a TON of people tear his ass up. Not to mention later in the night i saw him telling to FEMALES that are apart of a very well known ProMod Team "yall lost anyways so get your ass out of here" Not only is that VERY unprofessional and uncalled for but they had won. HMP really has a bunch of assholes working the starting line! As if the crash was not enough comotion, you have these two idiots starting shit on the starting line. Wasting important time!
After a crash it is just as important for the crew to get there as the EMS team. Decisions need to be made fast. The driver is shaken up and needs the crew/family to help get things sorted out.

Author:

TO ME TOP RING END GAP IS DETERMINED BY HOW MUCH "FIRE/FLAME" -THE TOP RING IS EXPOSED TO. A LOOSE BORE WITH THE WAY THE PISTON IS DESIGNED CAN EXPOSE THE TOP RING TO A LOT OF HEAT.

DEPENDS ON WHO MAKES THE PISTON THE AREA ABOVE THE TOP RING TO THE TOP OF THE PISTON IS SMALLER IN DIAMETER THAN THE REST OF THE PISTON.

THIS IS KINDA CRUDE UNLESS YOU HAVE LOOKED AT A LOT OF MOTORS BUT... ASSEMBLE A PISTON WITH RINGS.. INSTALL IT IN YOUR ENGINEM RUN IT UP TO TOP DEAD CENTER. NOW LOOK DOWN AT YOUR TOP RING -LOOK HOW MUCH OF THE TOP RING YOU CAN SEE. IF YOU HAVE A NICE NEW TIGHT BORE AND A PISTON THAT DOES NOT EXPOSE THE TOP RING.. YOU CAN PROBABLY RUN .024 ENG GAP, MAYBE LESS. IF YOU CAN SEE THE TOP RING PRETTY GOOD YOU NEED MORE END GAP MAYBE .032 -WHAT YOU SEE IS WHAT FIRE AND HEAT CAN GET TO - THE HOTTER THE ENVIRONMENT THE RING RUNS IN THE MORE END GAP IS REQUIRED... THE TOP RING TRANSFERS A LOT OF HEAT OUT OF THE PISTON INTO THE WATER JACKET, PROBABLY MOST OF THE HEAT!

TOO MUCH END GAP DOES NOT HURT POWER ONE BIT! I HAVE RUN SB NITROUS CHEVY'S WITH UP TO .072 END GAP AND DID NOT SEE ANY LOSS OF POWER OR ET AND DID NOT HAVE ANY BLOWBY.

NOT ENOUGH END GAP -THE RINGS WILL GROW UNTIL THE ENDS "BUTT", THEY WILL THEN SWELL OUT AND TRY TO STICK IN THE BORE. WHEN THEY SWELL OUT AND STICK IT WILL "WHIP OUT" THE TOP RING LAND. THE TOP RING WILL GET SO HOT IT WILL LOOSE TENSION AND NO LONGER SEAL THE CYLINDER. WHEN YOU PULL A MOTOR DOWN AND SEE THE TOP RING LAND "WHIPPED OUT" IT WAS CAUSED BY NOT ENOUGH END GAP.

ANYTHIME YOU PULL YOUR MOTOR DOWN AND SEE A WHIPPED OUT TOP RING LAND NOTICE THE RING WHILE STILL ON THE PISTON -IT WILL NOT HAVE ANY "SPRING". THE GOOD PISTONS THE TOP RING END GAP WILL BE 1/4" APART. THE HURT PISTON THE END GAPS WILL BE ALMOST TOUCHING TO MAYBE 1/8" APART TOPS. SHOW ME 8 TOP RINGS AND I CAN POINT TO THE DEAD HOLES HALF WAY ACROSS THE ROOM. TAKE THE RING FROM THE DEAD HOLE OFF THE PISTON AND RUB THE ENDS WITH YOUR FINGER AND GET THE OIL AND CARBON OFF AND YOU WILL SEE A SHINY LITTLE SPOT/DOT WHERE THE RING TOUCHED AND WAS RUBBING!

BACK IN THE DAY I RAN TRW FORGED PISTONS, THEY WERE THE CHEAPEST AND HEAVIEST -THEY COULD TAKE SOME ABUSE. BEFORE I LEARNED WHAT CAUSE THE TOP RING TO "WHIP OUT" I WOULD TAKE A HAMMER AND KNOCK DOWN THE RAISED LIP ON THE PISTON, ADD A FRESH RING AND GO AGAIN. BEFORE WE HAD A WAY TO CHANGE TIMING FOR EACH CYLINDER I WOULD RUN A DIFFERENT COMPRESSION PISTON IN AS MANY AS 3 HOLES- CHANGING UP THE TIMING REQUIREMENTS.

I RAN DIFFERENT END GAPS IN EVERY CYLINDER DEPENDING ON HOW BAD IT WAS WORE. I RAN THE SAME BASIC 355 NITROUS CHEVY FOR ABOUT 6 YEARS-- I DONE TONS OF EXPERIMENTING AND USED UP TONS OF PISTONS. SAVE YOUR KILLED PARTS - I WOULD GO BACK SOMETIMES AS FAR AS A YEAR OR TWO AND LOOK AT A PISTON OR SOMETHING AND BAM THERE WAS THOSE SHINY SPOTS ON THE END OF THE RINGS IN THOSE WHIPPED OUT PISTONS!~!!

SOME THINGS IN AN ENGINE HAVE TO BE MORE PERFECT THAN OTHERS. THE DIFFERENCE IN A PARTS CHANGER AND A MECHANIC -THE MECHANIC KNOWS WHAT WILL RUN A LITTLE LONGER. I RAN ON A VERY LIMITED BUDGET -ALMOST ALWAYS RAN USED PARTS. I TRADED "SWEAT" FOR LONGEVITY. I DIDN'T MIND PULLING MY MOTOR OR PULLING A HEAD EVERY 3 TO 6 PASSES. I COULDN'T BORE A BLOCK OR TURN A CRANK BUT EVERYTHING ELSE I COULD DO. PORTED MY HEADS DONE MY OWN VALVE JOBS. I HAD EVERYTHING SET UP WHERE THE MOTOR WAS OUT IN ABOUT AN HOUR.

I DON'T KNOW HOW MANY TIMES I WOULD FRY A PISTON, JUST PULL 1 HEAD LEAVE THE INTAKE ON - DROP THE PAN AND CHANGE THE PISTON.. TAKE A POCKET KNIFE AND SCRAPE OUT THE ALUMINUM STUCK THE THE BLOCK, HIT IT WITH A HONE AND BACK TOGETHER. I HAD 1 NICE NICKEL BLOCK I NOTCHED BETWEEN 2 CYLINDERS. HADD TO PULL THE MOTOR ALL THE WAY DOWN - CLEANED OUT THE NOTCH AND TOOK MY TORCH AND SOME BRASS AND FILLED THE GAP BETWEEN THE 2 CYLINDERS. TOOK A FILE AND CAREFULLY "DRESSED DOWN THE BRASS - RAN THAT BLOCK ANOTHER 2 YEARS WITH NO PROBLEMS... DON'T BE AFRAID TO TRADE "SWEAT" FOR LONGEVITY. MOST PEOPLE DON'T WANT TO TRY SOMETHING BECAUSE THEY ARE JUST LAZY - DON'T WANT TO GO BACK IN THE MOTOR IF IT DIDN'T WORK.. I HAD PLENTY OF TIME BUT JUST DIDN'T HAVE MONEY FOR NEW SHIT.

THIS STORY IS ALMOST OVER ONE LAST THING: WHEN I WAS RUNNING MY CORVETTE BACK IN THE 80'S EARLY 90'S -I HAD A GARAGE AND MADE MY LIVING AS A MECHANIC. I HAD TONS OF SB CHEVY STUFF MOSTLY STOCK STUFF AND SOME CHEVY HI PERF STUFF, THE BACK OF THE SHOP WAS FULL OF BLOCKS, HEADS, CRANKS YOU NAME IT IF IT WAS FOR A SB CHEVY IT WAS SOMEWHERE, LITTERLY TONS OF CAST IRON!

SO PEGGY COMES IN THE SHOP ONE DAY, I'M STEADILY WHINNING ABOUT MY CAR BEING DOWN FOR ABOUT 6 MONTHS, NO MONEY TO FIX IT.. WOE IS ME. PEG LOOKS AROUND THE SHOP AT ALL THOSE PARTS AND SAYS, "YOU MEAN WITH ALL THESE PARTS YOU CAN'T GET YOUR CAR RUNNING?" BOY I GOT MAD, WHAT DOES A DUMB BROAD KNOW ABOUT RACING - I WANTED A NEW SET OF ALUMINUM HEADS!!~

IT TOOK ABOUT A WEEK FOR IT TO SINK IN WHAT SHE HAD SAID. SHE WAS RIGHT I COULD GET MY CAR RUNNING AND IT WOULD RUN "SOMETHING" -MAYBE NOT AS FAST AS I WANTED IT TO GO BUT IT WOULD RUN SOMETHING AND I WOULD BE AT THE TRACK AND I COULD QUIT WHINNING (SOME OF YOU BETTER HOPE YOUR WIFE DON'T READ THIS, LOL).
I GOT TO THINKING WHO COULDN'T "GET UP" FOR A NEW PAIR OF ALUMINUM HEADS. THE REASON I DIDN'T WANT TO RUN MY JUNK I WAS JUST LAZY. ONCE I DECIDE I WOULD TRADE "SWEAT" FOR PERFORMANCE I WAS BACK ON TRACK! THE BATTLE DOES NOT START WHEN YOU GET TO THE TRACK. RUNNING YOUR CAR AT THE TRACK IS THE EASY PART. THE HARD PART IS TO GET THERE, GET THERE WITH SOMETHING. ONCE I DECIDED PEGGY WAS RIGHT I LEARNED THE EQUIVALENT TO A COLLEGE DEGREE IN ENGINES AND HOT RODS. I DONE IT WITH "SWEAT" -NOT MONEY. I GUESS IN CLOSING THANKS TO THAT DUMB BROAD AND ONE OTHER THING, "1 DROP OF SWEAT IS MORE VALUABLE THAN A POUND OF GOLD"... JUST REMEMBER THAT WHEN YOUR WHINNING YOUR CAR AIN'T RUNNING!

i am assumuning these are just vacuum ports. I broke my base plate also, however the new on had the vacuum connection which i did not need. I just plugged them up. If you do not need the vacuum ports, i would say your fine.

The channels are the idle air passages. If you have four corner Idle circuits the passages have to be plugged.

Got a TNT setup off a 00 camaro . This stuff came off a salt water flood car. I was checking the solenoids to see if they worked and the purge and fuel seemed fine . The NOS solenoid , the wires seemed to get hot and it arched real bad. It still opened , does the NOS cool it or is it bad ? Just wanting opinions . Thanks!

The NOS cools the solenoid as the gas passes through it.
the coils on the NOS solenoids are actually designed as 3 volt coil wiring and when passing 12 volts through them the coil will get hotter than the fuel solenoid which is designed around a 12 volt impedance (static with nothing going flowing through them). this allows the plunger to pull harder against the pressure of the nitrous and allow it to open. you will probably be OK, but for safeties sake and piece of mind you can replace it.

you should have had landrum put the arch to whatever hight you wanted the car to sit ,if you can't do that you can put a longer shackle in the rear to drop it down

I actually had second thoughts about buying the landrums once I called them. I called them directly and didn't go through one of their dealers. The only dealer I found for them was a circle track place. They didn't even act like they wanted to sale me any thing. Then the only thing they really asked was the aproximate weight of the car. I already have the springs so I need to know the best way to lower the rear of the car now. If I do need to get new longer rear spring hangers where do I get them from? If I can do it by just adding blocks I will do that.

Go to Smiley's in the Woodlands they have a nice 2" block. The little blocks you get from autozone are pretty thin and crack pretty easy..To your question: Yes, if you want it two inches lower you would use a 2" inch block. I had the same problem when I put the Landrum's on my car. I use the split-mono leaf from Calvert racing now. Hell I have some of thier blocks laying around somewhere..Here are the afco block Smiley's has.

I run the slide-a-links now but if I don't get the suspension lined out here pretty soon I might get some caltracs and go ahead and get the calvert springs then also. I also noticed after installing the new springs my rear spring hangers are now pulled to the side and hang funny.

Call around and find a good spring shop and have them de-arch the front half of the spring. I bought a set from Calvert and had the same problem. Called Calvert and that is what they told me to have done or you can send them back to Landrum and have them send you the correct spring now that you know what you need.

This is no big deal but I just spent about 10 hours rebiulding my son in laws 750 holley whitch I painted to match the scheme of the car. I know how holley's can be sooner or later gas is gonna start seeping out the fuel bowl bolts no matter how clean the surface is where the bolt gasket meets the bowl, which I know it might not be all that much gas but it's still enough to make paint start to crinkle. My question is, is there a method out there to keep these things from leaking over time, me personally I don't give a damn but he's alittle ocd so if any of you guru's know a trick please let me know. thanks.

Aggree completely, buy the good gaskets, pricier than the "plain jane" cork gasket, but will not leak over time.
also when rebuilding, they are re-usable as they are coated and will not "stick" to the bowls or metering block and carb body.

Also, if he is OCD, periodically check the bowl bolts, they usually do not come loose, but a little gasket shrinkage may lead to a small leak path that will ruin the finish.

I remember seeing fire burn outs at Houston International (Dickinson) in the late 60's early 70's. I've seen a few. The reason these burn outs were outlawed because when engines in the cars died (usually because the fire used up the oxygen in the air) the cars usually burned to the ground. I agree Conner that was pretty cool to see after all the years. Thanks for the hook up!

My question is, is there a method out there to keep these things from leaking over time, me personally I don't give a damn but he's alittle ocd so if any of you guru's know a trick please let me know. thanks.

102 nitrous or 102 fuel? if its 110 fuel and 102 nitrous. thats rich. super rich, especially with 5.5psi and only 900 bottle pressure. id square it at the least, but putting the 110 nitrous and 102 fuel would be a lot better and have worked better for me and most nitrous gurus would tell you the NOS reccommendations are super fat.

Just throw NOS reccomendened settings out there and most real nitrous gurus would agree that most of the tuneups NOS gives you are pig fat. and not all combos are the same. I am glad it worked for you but that tuneup you suggested to the guy will likely be rich and being rich will hurt just as many parts, if not more as being lean.

I have 8 Wiseco pistons and pins for sale. The part number is 6238A6. Here is a link to them at summit http://www.summitracing.com/parts/WIS-6238A6/

They came out of my 496 and are for a 4.310 bore, 4.250 stroke with a 6.385 rod. There is nothing wrong with them, I just went to a lower compression piston for my new blower combo. They have about 60-70 passes on them. 4 passes with 100 shot of nitrous and 4 with 200 shot, the rest were N/A passes.

Asking $400 obo plus the ride. I am from TX, but am currently living in CO

Call 719-404-3602
