head studs your head must be full of buds. 2005 F250 is probably a diesel. You have to pull the heads and to do that the book pays 20 hours. Some remove the cab to do it so this is not a back yard job for most people.

I know both the brothers. both pretty cool guys. bubba is true bad a$$ use to have a cool sbf coupe. sorry for the sideways deals. sometimes stuff just happens. do enough business in automotive repair industry and some will get pissed off. just happens sometimes . not taking up for anyone or justifying anything. It is just the business.. and dam right not that bad of a job to do, but I wouldn't recommend it for the amateur. we use to get 20-24 depending on who quotes it.

Flat lob on cam not broke in right if it gets any worse or can't find problem change the oil and look for metal and easier than that put both valve covers and check all the rocker arms for any loose ones.

Make sure the distributor isn't all corroded inside or getting wet from the AC sweating and dripping on it. Also pull valve covers and check lift on rockers as suggested.

sounds like the distributor is 180 out. pull #1 spark plug and stick finger in hole. crank engine when you feel pressure continue a very short distance to tdc. pull dist cap and observe where the rotor is pointing. if not pointing at #1 rotate dist until it does.....bart

Engines laying around built but not broke in have to have oil pressure run up before starting and you need to use break in oil for tight clearances .
That applies to any engine setting too long and getting dry.

Big block flat tappet cams are notorious for going flat if the lash is not properly set. Also, like the other guy said: if tou do not break the cam in with a good zinc based oul then they will most definitely flatten on you.

However, it could be a crossed spark plug wire, bad plug or plugs, bad rotor, bad distributor, bad valve spring and the list could go on as long as my rap sheet. I'd take it to someone reputable and that really knows Big block Chevrolet's. Not rocket science but could drive you to rolling shit balls and cost a pretty penny just swapping out parts.

Pull off valve cover, turn over motor, make sure both valves are closed on #1 and piston is at TDC. Rotor on distributor should be approaching #1 plug. Check plug wire firing order. Since the cap will be off, mark the distributor base with a line where # 1 is. After verifying all that....Moving the distributor a little each way between cranks should get it close enough to fire. Then use timing light to set the advance.

Might as well be out of business then.

Better to use Summit or Jeg's as you get an unconditional no questions asked warranty. Don't have to buy from a local speed shop then send your stuff in to the manufacture when your brand new shit doesn't work at all.

Summit for me and I spend lots of cash with them.

While driving down the road it will die as if running out of gas. It will crank right back up when I hold the gas pedal to the floor. It's not showing any codes whatsoever. It's a 1989 gmc sierra 1500 5.7 350 engine. I've changed: fuel pump and filter, computer, spark plugs, distributor, map sensor, and coolant temp sensor. Thanks for any advice

I think the oil pressure switch shuts off the fuel pump on that year model. The side of the oil pressure switch that goes to the gauge might work but the side that goes to the fuel pump relay could be bad. Found this on a 1990 model truck before. Might not be your problem but it might be worth checking.

So I've heard of other people having problems with this paticular make and model gauge cluster, but I'm not sure the best way to fix them. None of the gauge are working, only the fuel light comes on when I'm low on gas. I'm on a budget and inspection is about to be out. Anyadvice on how to take care of this would be appreciated.

Check on Craigs list for a local cluster repair person.
I have used one here in Fort Worth several times.
You will save money if you remove the cluster yourself.
Very simple 5 minute removal.
Cost for cluster repair around $80.00.

I have a good lime green th350 that came out of my car working perfectly when I went to an overdrive. It is manual valve body but reverse pattern. It comes with a Brittain converter that stalled about 4 grand with a motor about the same hp maybe a little less. $850 and I will throw in the shifter if I still have it.

I don't have a tranny, but I could pick one up and have it built. Need the auto/manual valve body and forward pattern. Mainly just wondering if any shops around town would keep something like this in stock or not?

Farther away is better, less initial turbulence for the hot gasses, and they ( mufflers ) last longer as well. The muffler design has a lot to do with it. Chambers or straight through....

I posted a while back about needing some '67 Camaro doors and there was a posted response. I have tried repeatedly to e-mail him to see about buying the doors but have had no answer.

If anyone has a pair of take-off doors they want to sell, please call me at 713 690 4233.

Thanks,

John

In the grudge game, do some racers use money to race stop when trying to lock in? Is that good or bad for the game? Question...are all racers created equal or we have the big "I"s and little "you" syndrome? Who is responsible for the mentality if all racers aren't equal? Who suffers?
Show starts at 7pm CST and fills up quick so call early. Call 646-200-4419 to listen live. Press 1 on your phone to join in on the discussion. If the show is full, you can listen online just click the link below.

OVER THE LAST 15 YEARS I HAVE SHOT APPROX 500,000 PHOTOS FROM WEEKLY WEEKEND DRAG RACING SHOWS TO OUR EVENTS./.

THEY GONNA SIT ON MY COMPUTER AND BE LOST- I GOT SO MANY PICS I'M TRYING TO FIND SOMETHING THAT IS EASY TO LOOK THRU AND MAYBE FIND YOUR CAR.

MAYBE I HAVE FOUND SOMETHING- THIS NEW PROGRAM MAKES IT POSSIBLE TO UPLOAD ALBUMS. I UPLOADED OUR FIRST 5 MELTDOWNS FROM NAVASOTA. IT WORKED REAL NICE! I THINK THIS MAY BE THE PROGRAM WE NEED.

THERE ARE OVER 700 PICS POSTED IN 5 ALBUMS. THE FIRST PAGE CATALOGS THE ALBUMS AND NOTES HOW MANY PICS IN EACH ALBUM. YOU WILL HAVE TO FIDDLE WITH IT TO SEE WHATS THERE.

I MIGHT BE WASTING MY TIME POSTING THESE OLD PHOTOS. I DON'T KNOW IF ANYONE IS INTERESTED BUT I'LL POST A FEW ALBUMS WITH THIS NEW PROGRAM.

CLICK HERE OR CHECK UP TOP LET ME KNOW IF THIS WOULD BE A GOOD MODEL FOR ALBUMS

I THINK THIS NEW ALBUM WILL BE THE WAY TO GO. MOUSE OVER THE PIC AND A LOT OF OPTIONS COME UP. PUNCH AROUND ON THE BUTTONS TO FAMILIARIZE YOUR SELF WITH THE CONTROLS.

ONCE YOU CLICK ON YOUR NAME YOU CAN DRILL DOWN TO LOOK AT YOUR PICS. NOW TO GET BACK OUT AND GO BACK TO THE INDEX YOU HAVE TO DRILL UP A COUPLE OF ARROWS AND RETURN TO THE START.

NOW WHAT I HAVE IS A LOT OF FOLDERS I HAVE SAVED FOR EACH RACER THAT RACED AT HMP IN 2010. I JUST POSTED UP TOP RACERS FROM ANDREA TO DREXAL. NOW IF YOUR NAME FALLS IN THE MIDDLE YOU WILL HAVE A FOLDER.

HERE IS THE LIST OF NAMES FROM 2010 POSTED.

IT WILL TAKE A FEW DAYS BUT I WILL POST EVERYONE'S FILE. NOW DISCLAIMER: I DON'T KNOW WHAT'S IN THE FILES I DIDN'T LOOK BEFORE I POSTED THEM.....

Grudge Racing is a big sport that we love and enjoy. With that being said, we choose certain people to uphold stipulations and rules as a DP man. Sometimes the DP man's decision can and will be challenged. Sometimes that person may have to ask the track tower for additional information to make the final call in certain situations. Once that person makes that call in this grudge game, we can't go back 5, 10, 30 minutes later, change it and expect everyone to understand it. That final decision was made with track input. Sometimes it doesn't look right and causes conflict. Now, what, if any, other solutions can we as a grudge community, put in place to help so that maybe this situation won't happen again? Track owners, elected DP men, teams and crews, we must move forward. Positive results are needed. We can't change the past, but we can move forward. Show starts at 7pm CST. Call in # 646-200-4419. If the show is full, click the link below to listen online.http://www.blogtalkradio.com/grudge-inc-talk-radio-show/2015/08/26/grudge-inc-atomic-dog-tuesdays

Subject: GARY WEATHERLY- JAMES FINNEY AND THE "BIRDMAN CREW" WIN $10,000 OKLEHOMA NO PREP RACE

Author:
joegolden ()
[ Edit | View ]
Date Posted: Monday, August 17, 11:03:06am
SUNDAY NIGHTS WIN IN OKLAHOMA'S $10,000 WIN NO PREP WAS A BIG NIGHT FOR THE BIRD CREW! THEY WERE IN LOUISIANA SAT NITE FOR A MATCH RACE WITH SHADDOW BUT THE CAR BROKE. THEY PAID THE $1,000 PUNKOUT @ 10PM. IT TOOK TILL 1AM TO PATCH UP THE BIRD.

THE GUYS HAD ENTERED THE BIG NO PREP RACE FOR SUNDAY SO THE CREW HEADED FOR OKLAHOMA WITH A WOUNDED 'BIRD. THEY MANAGED TO HELICOIL THE 2 BROKE ROCKER ARMS BUT THE MANIFOLD WAS STILL CRACKED/SPLIT.
NOBODY COULD WELD ALUMINUM IN TIME FOR THE RACE SO THE GUYS TOOK A RATCHET STRAP AND PULLED THE MANIFOLD TOGETHER! IT HELD TOGETHER FOR 5 ROUNDS! IT WAS AN ALL HOUSTON FINAL BIRDMAN vs FLACO- BIRDMAN FOR THE WIN.

IT LOOKS LIKE GRUDGE RACING HAS ABOUT RUN ITS COURSE. IT'S IMPOSSIBLE FOR THE BIRDCREW TO GET A RACE AT THE GRUDGE EVENTS.... NOW ON THE OTHER HAND IN THE LAST COUPLE OF MONTHS BIRDMAN HAS WON %21,000 BUCKS!!

IT LOOKS LIKE IT WILL BE "NO-PREP" RACES FOR THE BIRDCREW. WITH "NO PREP" PAYING $10,000-$20,000 FOR A WIN IT MIGHT BE TIME FOR THE BIRDCREW TO "FOLLOW THE MONEY"!!

**TOP SECRET- MAYBE I'M NOT TO PUT THIS OUT- BUT...**
[THERE IS SERIOUS TALK BETWEEN JAMES AND GARY IF THEY RETIRE THE GRUDGE RACING- SHOULD THEY LIGHT UP THE SCOREBOARD FOR LAST A MATCH RACE TRIM PASS. I CAN TELL YOU NOW- ONE GUYS WANTS TO LIGHT UP THE SCORE BOARD, THE OTHER IS AFRAID IF THEY POST THEIR MATCH RACE TIMES THEY WILL BE BANNED FROM SOME "NO-PREP" RACES. THEY ARE ALREADY BANNED FROM BACK HALF EVENTS- SEEMS IF THEY ENTER A BACKHALF RACE NONE OF THE OTHER RACERS WILL SHOW FOR THE EVENT.

I'M IN THE CAMP- LIGHT UP THE SCORE BOARD! IF YOU GUYS KNEW THE ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF THE BIRDCREW- YOU WOULD NOT BELIEVE HOW FAST THEY ARE- AND DOING IT IN A LEGAL BACK HALF CAR!! HOW EVER FAST YOU THINK THEY ARE -YOUR THINKING TO SLOW!! *JUST SAYIN*]

GARY HAS CALLED NUMEROUS TIMES TRYING TO SET UP A RACE. THEY KNOW WHO HE IS AND SAID THERE IS NO WAY IT WILL HAPPEN.

BIRDMAN SHOWED UP AT A NO PREP RACE WHERE THEY KNEW DIG DADDY WAS HEADEDS. LONG STORY SHORT AS LUCK WOULD HAVE IT THEY DREW BIG DADDY FIRST ROUND. BEFORE BIG DADDY WRECKED OUT THE BIRD HAD 3 DAYLITES ON DAVE BEFORE HALF TRACK.

I would have to agree with Mr Golden. You need to look a little further into it Brother Eric.

also remember the vavle lash would tighten up eventually going to zero+ lash resulting into a mis if left alone

I have a 1989 gmc Sierra 1500 with 350 engine. When driving the vehicle it kills but cranks right back up. I could be on the gas and it starts to die out and kill. We've changed the entire distributor, computer, and fuel pump. It also has vacuum. What's y'all opinion. Mechanic can't get any reading cause of the year of the truck. He says all they could do is go through slots of codes...what's y'all's opinion

Take the fuel line loose from the fuel pump and see if the gas flows freely. Knew a guy that had news paper stuffed in his gas tank and had the same fault.

You are losing your ground. Check your computer grounds that bolt to the block. Usually 1 on back of the heat and 2 up clise to thermostat housing.

Also can be your fuel pump. I'd bet my underwear that its the grounds tho.

Willie check your oil pressure switch. It's tide in with your fuel pump and both send the signal to the ECM on the same wire. Also check your grounds like the guy suggested behind the head and you should have some around the thermostat housing too. Hope this helps

THESE PICS FROM 2005 WON'T BE FOR EVERYONE... I ADDED 70 MORE PICS UP TOP.

BACK IN 2005 DAVID WOLF WAS THE GUY TO BEAT IN LIMITED STREET. AT THE END OF THE YEAR DAVID SHOWED UP TO ONE OF OUR TRUE TEN FIVE EVENTS. WOLF'S LIMITED STREET MUSTANG FIT OUR TT5 CLASS RULES.

DAVID'S CAR WAS THE STATE
OF THE ART CAR IN THOSE DAYS. I HAPPEN TO RUN ACROSS EXCELLENT CHASSIS PICS FROM OUR 2005 EVENT. DAVID SAID I COULD TAKE ALL THE PICS I WANTED.

I REMEMBER ALL THE FIRST ROUND WINNERS HAD TO WEIGH. IT WAS OBVIOUS WOLF HAD THE FIELD COVERED AND WOULD PROBABLY WIN THE $2500. WELL WOLF WON FIRST ROUND AND DRAINED ALL THE WATER FROM THE INTER COOLER AS HE WAITED IN LINE TO WEIGHT.

I'M AT THE STARTING LINE RUNNING THE RACE WHEN SOMEONE CAME UP AND SAID I WAS WANTED IN TECH BUILDING. I WALKED IN AND A BIG CROWD WAS AROUND THE CAR. WOLF WAS 5 POUNDS TOO LIGHT TO MAKE CLASS RULES, HE HAD BEEN DQ'D -YEP DRAINING THE WATER OUT OF THE INTER-COOLER CAUSED WOLF'S MUSTANG TO BE FIVE POUNDS LITE.

HERE ARE 70 EXCELLENT SUSPENSION PICS. IF YOU RACE A MUSTANG YOU MIGHT WANT TO LOOK AT THESE FROM 2005. CLICK ON WOLF "UP TOP" OF THE PAGE.

Someone sold enough crack for enough money to buy a Vega. He is planning to come to track in Houston and try to get a race or two. With a head full of crack and misplaced confidence he thinks he can out run anyone here and is putting everyone on notice he intends to do just that.
That being said save your money to put up so you can take his when he arrives. With that much confidence in his abilities you may just empty his pockets on the first race of the night!!!

The race that never happened is in question.
Some think Birdman's car didn't break. Did Birdman leave town so that they wouldn't have to race The Shadow (Phil Shuler)? Birdman wants to clear the air. The Birdman crew days they ate never scared...win or lose! Lot of talk that the east coast scared Texas. What you think about that Texas? Is Texas scared of the east coast? Or is that just some of that oh so famous east coast hype?
Show starts at 7pm CST and fills up quick so call early. Call 646-200-4419 to listen live. Press 1 on your phone to join in on the discussion. If the show is full, you can listen online just click the link below.

They did a hell of a job of promoting it fan wise... Too bad the racers didn't get the memo. The pits was pitiful...Atomic dawg show was a joke all smoke and mirrors. Keep race fooling the fans and you will witness the spectator side resemble what the Pitts looked like last night. It's obvious that you they have lost racer respect.... There was one Houston grudge car and one Houston 5.80 truck there and all the other Dallas grudge cars was at Kennadale testing and tuning. Treeman packed up and left the property after a couple of Duddd hits and there race fooling clowns (Atomic Dog) never told the fans that his big headliner wasn't gonna happen... People sitting around waiting on action that never was going to happen. HELL WE NEED FOR YOU TO TAKE A SIP FROM THE FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH JG AND SHOW THES GUYS HOW TO DELIVER A GOOD SHOW AND NOT PUMP UP DREAM VENUES AND RACE FOOL AND FUCK FANS OUT OD THERE MONEY!!! No hard feelings, no disrespect. JUST THE TRUTH!

HERE IS WHAT THE PROMOTERS DO-YOU PAINT A PICTURE THAT THE SPECTATORS CAN BUILD THEIR OWN MENTAL IMAGE ON, SOMETHING IN THEIR MINDS EYE. THE PROMOTERS KNOW THEY HAVE WAY "OVERBOOKED" THE EVENT BUT THEY DON'T CARE, THEY PROMOTE MATCH RACES THAT THE MATCH RACER DON'T EVEN KNOW THEY ARE BOOKED IN. JUST SOMETHING FOR THE EVENT FLYER . BESIDES THE UNSUSPECTING SPECTATOR JUST FIGURE HE BROKE. YOU ARE LUCY TO SEE ONE RACE AFTER SITTING ALL NIGHT. MOST DON'T KNOW THEY HAVE HAD THE "WOOL" PULLED OVER THEIR EYES. YES PEOPLE LIKE YOU FINALLY REALIZE WHAT IS GOING ON AND QUIT GOING. BUT HERE COMES SOME NEWBIE TO THE SPORT TO TAKE YOUR PLACE.
