It would be nice if you offered u20 and 20+ in open champs. We no longer feis in New England because many syllabus are 17+ as oldest group which in most cases also makes it the largest open group. We regularly travel to other regions because they offer a u20 and 20+. If you are afraid there won't be enough competitors, you can always combine when setting up schedule, but why not give it a chance?

Have you seen the unholy hell people raise when a feis doesn't draw enough competitors in the oldest groups and has to combine comps? People feel entitled to whatever was proposed on the syllabus. I think it's easier for a feis committee to split a comp later on if they get a good number of competitors registered than it is to combine groups.

[> Subject: Agree, single age groups up to U22, if need be then combine. No one wants to feis in a group of 17+ or O18. Totally unfair to these girls.

At 19, she is competing against ladies who have bee WQ since she was practically in diapers. They are still going strong in their early 30s. She holds her own and places, but can't win to save her life. She'd rather be in competitions with 18-19 year olds (even 17 year olds would be fine). Some of the competitions she has done lately have been close to 30 dancers (about half were U19 and the rest older) and the committees STILL didn't split them. It was really annoying. No issue with competitions being big, as long as the dancers are roughly the same age. (Midamerica.)
