In our experience, it depends on the feis. Between 17 and 19, she has competed in competitions that were U18, 18 but under 20 and combined with ages 17 and over. At 17, she was in one comp where she was the only 17 year old in a total group of 9 or 10 dancers and most were 20+ (she actually placed.) Even when they do have U18, U20 and 20+ on the syllabus, they often combine due to low numbers. [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
[> Subject: Keep in mind that groups are very often smaller in NE than in MAR. If you offer U18 and U20 and then you don't get enough registrations, you may have to combine comps. And if you do that, people HOWL. If you offer 17+ and get enough registrations, you can always split the comp. And many do split them once the numbers are in. | |
