Subject: This post is vile and this dancer deserves much more grace than is being extended to her.

In reply to: Never okay. 's message, "APPAULED seeing a dancer older than a TC screaming at them, and older adults. This is NOT okay and nobody deserves to ever be treated like that." on 21:05:12 10/24/22 Mon

Not that anything a dancer is going through is anyone else’s business, but I’d like to shed some light on why this dancer may have had an out of character reaction. Let’s not forget how many dancers in our region are navigating adjustments to new schools through no choice of their own with at least 3 schools closing in the past 6 months. It’s likely that competing for the first time after her longtime teachers left suddenly was a triggering experience. I also know this dancer has been battling an injury, and is juggling work and academic commitments in addition to dancing. Her response to a roller coaster of a day does not need to be under a microscope on an anonymous message board. Many competitors have behaved in ways they may not be proud of in the high pressure competition environment; we don’t need to single out a kind and hardworking girl who doesn’t deserve this negative attention.

Regardless of everything she has going on, which is really not more than her competitors or as you said many other dancers in the region, it is not an excuse to speak and treat people the way she did this weekend. The adult she screamed at after the adult approached her teacher deserves an apology and so does her teacher (maybe he got one already). I would have more compassion for what she is going through had she not treated so many girls poorly in the past and I really don’t have a vendetta against this girl, it’s just the truth. This is not a one off incident. I am sure she is a role model to your kids or been nice to you, but she isn’t nice to all. We all have a lot going on, it’s not an excuse.
