Subject: Target language use on target.

No item 1.3.3: The principle of appropriate target language use, do texto de LITTLE, D. et ali (Ed.) Towards greater learner autonomy in the foreign language classroom, são descitas tres regras gerais que juntas constituem o princípio do uso da língua alvo: (1) “The teacher must speak to her learners in the target language, but in such a way that they can understand her.”; (2) “In all forms of classroom interaction the learners must use the target language to the full extent of their present capacity.”; (3) “ ... use of the target language to talk (and write) about the learning process as well as the target language and its formal properties”. Os autores alegam que os professores que aceitam as duas primeiras regras gerais com freqüência rejeitam a terceira: “... arguing that planning and evaluating learning and discussing formal features of language require a level of linguistic sophistication that is available to learners only in their mother tong.” LITTLE, D et ali (Ed) (2002).

Rosalva.
