Whether something is offensive or not doesn't really have anything to do with how it was intended. It's all about how the other person perceives it. That's really the whole point of political correctness. It's not about arguing whether somebody has the right to be offended by something. It's about respecting what offends them, and just not doing whatever that is.

It's like, I don't understand why women get in such a snit about the toilet seat being left up. I have to check its status before I sit down too. I'll probably never understand why it's such an issue. But I leave it down just out of courtesy, because I know that leaving it up really pisses them off, and I don't want them to be pissed off.
