  PS--Farm Force was screened last night as part of the Animation Festival at the Florida Film Festival. We were there, and so were the directors and animation leads. It was fun to see it up on the big screen again! According to the press release on Project Firefly's website, Farm Force has been picked up for development into a series to be distributed by Porchlight Entertainment. More news to come!

  • Anyone else? C'mon out of the woodwork, and give the new player a try. Most who have tried it report very smooth and fast playback, with only one who said it was slow to play.   • I love it! So cute with Lucia and the ipod. This is definitely a technologically driven dog. :) The player loaded up right away for me. I'm using cable and a computer we bought about six months ago. The songs all started and kept going in sequence. I must say I love the variety and I'm impressed all over again with Dax's talent.     • I love "With Grace" too, Malia. It's so wistful and sort of haunting--I usually play it on repeat. I love Celtic music. With Grace is going to have a solo vocal as soon as the boss write the lyrics for it, and I think he has Molly (Chris K's sister) in mind as the vocalist. She's a very talented singer, and her voice would be perfect for that song. If you go to the Music for Media page (linked on the website), there is more info about the compositions on the iPod player.   After American Idol contestant Chris Daughtry's arguably impressive cover of Fuel's song "Hemorrhage (In My Hands)", the band is reportedly in talks with the contestant about joining the band and taking the place of the recently departed lead singer Brett Scallions.
  
  Jeff Abercrombie, the Fuel’s bass player, said Daughtry did "a great job. This guy delivered. And he delivered like he’d written the song himself." Following Daughtry performance, Idol judge Randy Jackson reportedly told Access Hollywood that "Chris just got offered to be in the band Fuel, their lead singer is gone so they are trying to get it together."
  
  But it may not be a sure thing. Fuel is having a contest to replace their lead singer. Their web site’s announcement for this search mentions Daughtry's performance, but also asks others to send in performances for consideration. The band will have to offer Daughtry a spot soon if they want him, since American Idol finalists are all held under contract with the show after they reach a certain point in the contest.
  
  As for Scallions, he recently posted a message on his MySpace blog explaining his side of the story.
  
  "The decision I have come to at this point in my life is to retire from Fuel. This is not a decision I just came up with at the drop of a hat. I have been thinking about this since the end of the Something Like Human tour... I feel like I need to push myself more as a musician and a writer and this is the best thing for me right now. Carl is a great songwriter. I have great songs in me too. Fuel, however, was never much of a collaboration."

  • Ok, people here still watching "Idol?" Who are your favorites? I really like Chris' voice, emotion, and style. I had actually been talking to a friend about him possibly filling Brett's spot in the band(before I even knew that the band was planning on staying together and searching for a replacement). Now, I find that this is potentially going to be reality. Do you think this would be a good or poor move? I like Fuel, but they seem to have their problems with the drummer and lead singer leaving. Years ago I saw them perform at my college and witnessed a bit of the pre- and post- concert antics, and the founding members seemed a little tamer than the rest. Would Chris fit in with that scene? Does he have a chance to be THE Idol or runner up and earn recognition that way? Will he be tossed out in a handful more rounds and be trapped under the Idol contract without much freedom or fame?     • I definitely watch AI religiously. Chris is my favorite! In the beginning it was Kellie, but Chris has won me over. I LOVE his voice and the fact that he's "different". When I watch AI, I like to envision someone being able to perform a full concert. Chris, Mandesa, Paris, and Taylor are the only ones I can see doing that. But in all reality, Chris is the only one I would go see. He performs my type of music.   It's been an exhausting last few weeks--or maybe months, I've lost track. I'm managing a major project at work, and it's taken up most of my time lately. I'm preparing for a key presentation meeting next Tuesday, for the president of our company, and all the other top execs. Keeping my fingers crossed that all goes well!
  
  The boss has been swamped lately too. He's been producing an audio book, and trying to get all the recording and mixing completed before leaving for GDC next weekend. GDC (Game Developers Conference) is one of biggest interactive gaming conventions of the year, and it's a week-long event held in San Jose, CA. Dax has created a new demo reel specifically for GDC, and it's linked on the homepage (also Music for Media page) of daxmusic.com, which is linked in the masthead. Check it out, and let us know what you think of it. It's a big file, so unless you're on high speed internet connection, will take awhile to download. Some exciting projects for the boss are coming out of his active involvement with game music composition. Be watching for news updates. Big things coming!

  • It's been a while since I've posted anything, so here goes. What have I been up to? Well besides working 45-50 hours a week, I also do volunteer work for the local Make A Wish Chapter a few times a week. At the present moment, I'm battling the office cold/flu that's so nicely being spread around. ICK. I hate being sick. It's been an especially hard week for me as I lost my grandfather on friday to cancer. I was lucky enough to go and visit him for Valentines day and see him before he passed away.   • I've also been swamped at work since the beginning of the year. The boss finished his book so I had to type it all up and do some other necessary things like formating etc. Plus the other things called "every day routine" :) In my free time I went to a great concert of a german singer (Xavier Naidoo) and the "Tennis Classics" with some former world class tennis players (Michael Stich, Henri Leconte, Charly Steeb, Patrik Kuehnen). I'm an expert, let me share :) They can get an advanced purchase price, if purchasing by phone (407-W-Disney) or online (www.waltdisneyworld.com) for certain tickets at least 24 hours before their trip. • Sometimes I Hate Flying -- Brooke, 22:14:19 02/24/06 Fri [7]
  Last week I went to Orlando/Daytona with my dad. Our main reason for going was for the Daytona 500. We also met up with Dax, Lynn, and John while there and it was so much fun! I hadn't seen Dax & Lynn in about 4 years I think. It was so great to see them again and finally meet John (DaxDad). Well, we spent Thursday & Friday in Orlando and went to Universal Studios/Islands of Adventure (which I LOVE). Neither has really changed much since I last went 4 years ago, but Islands is so much fun to me. Saturday & Sunday we drove to Daytona for the NASCAR Busch Series race & the Nextel Cup race. I LOVE NASCAR with a passion. It's so much fun - except for the weather on Sunday! It had been gorgeous all week long. Saturday I even got sunburned - it was 85 degrees & so sunny. Then Sunday, it was freezing cold and it drizzled all day long! It was so cold that you could see your breath - now that is COLD! The race was great, but the weather wasn't. Monday we headed to the airport. We both were on the flight from Orlando to Memphis and then we were parting ways (dad going to L.A. and me going to Huntsville, AL). Well, we got to Memphis and dad's plane was about to leave. My plane was to depart at 2:50pm for Huntsville. We look on the screens to see what gates we need to go to and wouldn't you know it...my flight is CANCELLED!!! Dad had to catch his flight, so I had to work things out with the airline. They said they "couldn't" provide the reason for the cancellation, but they apologized for the inconvenience. I figure either someone on the crew didn't show up or there weren't enough people on the flight. The woman told me that they had already booked me for a flight the next day (Tuesday) at 9am. They told me they'd put me up in a hotel for the night. I told them I had been in a hotel for almost a week and I was ready to get home, so I wanted to know what my options were. I was told my only other option was to take the 7:30pm flight to Atlanta where I would change over to Delta and leave at 11pm for Huntsville. I was fine with that...just as long as I could get home that night. Well, at around 6pm, we were told that our gate was changing, so I picked up my things and moved to the new gate. We were to board at 7pm, so at around 6:45 we're told that we'll be boarding at 7:30pm instead of 7pm. Then at 7:20 we're told that we're boarding at 8pm instead of 7:30. Then at around 7:50 we're told that we're boarding at 8:30 rather than 8pm. The pilot came out and talked with us and told us that the weather was bad in Atlanta and air traffic control wasn't letting anyone take off or land there. We FINALLY ended up boarding the plane at around 8:15 or 8:20 and the plane didn't take off until around 9:05pm Central Time. We got into Atlanta at 10pm ET (which is what time my flight was supposed to leave). I asked the person at the counter where my gate was and she said D33 (we were in concourse D, so that was great). Then I look at the screens and they say A33 (and that the flight was delayed until 11:10pm Central Time). So I figure I would check D33 first and someone stopped me, looked at my ticket, and said that I needed to go to A33. So I ran to the tram and of course A is the last stop on the thing. Amazingly there was no delay with this one departing and we began boarding at around 10:40pm and took off at around 11:10pm. When we landed in Huntsville, it was 12am Central Time. I went to baggage claim and guess what? My bags are not on the belt. Surprise, surprise. I actually expected that because of how many different flights I took throughout the day. So I went to the counter and there were 2 people ahead of me - I was the last person in line. When it was my turn, I handed the guy my papers and he says, "I may have good news for you...I just came from Northwest baggage claim and I'm prettty sure I saw your bags there." So finally something went right - my bags WERE there! They had made an earlier flight. So after getting my luggage, I started to head home at around 12:35am. I walked outside and it was super foggy because the weather had been terrible - rainy with freezing temperatures, which means ICE. I only live about an hour away from Huntsville, so under normal conditions, I should've been home by around 1:50am. But because of the fog and the icy conditions, I had to drive really slow. So I ended up getting home at 2:35am! My what should've been a short 7 hour travel time turned into 17 (from the time we left the hotel). It was TERRIBLE! Definitely the worst travelling experience I've ever had. I've flown a LOT and I usually love it, but I'm ruined for a while. It was so frustrating! My dad called me from Los Angeles and I was still sitting in the Memphis airport! I just wanted to cry! I could've flown to L.A. and back sooner than I got home! Heck, driving home from Memphis would only take 5 hours! Grr. I've already decided that when I go to Indianapolis in August, I am driving! I will not be flying! I know that some things are beyond their control (especially with weather), but I just don't agree with cancelling flights because there aren't enough people. We choose those certain flights for a reason. I wanted to get home early so that I could rest from my "vacation" before going to work the next day. But, that didn't happen - and I even had to miss half a day of work because of it. We all paid $$ for that specific flight and I just don't agree with cancelling a flight just because they could save a little cash. I had never flown Northwest before, but I won't be using them again unless it's absolutely necessary. Anyway, I'm home now. It's been a very busy week for me at work. I'm exhausted and I'm so happy that I get to sleep late tomorrow! :) Sorry it's so long, but it was a VERY LONG DAY!! haha

  LOS ANGELES - Don Knotts, the skinny, lovable nerd who kept generations of television audiences laughing as bumbling Deputy Barney Fife on "The Andy Griffith Show," has died. He was 81.
  
  Knotts died Friday night of pulmonary and respiratory complications at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Beverly Hills, said Paul Ward, a spokesman for the cable network TV Land, which airs "The Andy Griffith Show," and another Knotts hit, "Three's Company."
  
  Unspecified health problems had forced him to cancel an appearance in his native Morgantown in August 2005.
  
  The West Virginia-born actor's half-century career included seven TV series and more than 25 films, but it was the Griffith show that brought him TV immortality and five Emmies.
  
  The show ran from 1960-68, and was in the top 10 of the Nielsen ratings each season, including a No. 1 ranking its final year. It is one of only three series in TV history to bow out at the top: The others are "I Love Lucy" and "Seinfeld." The 249 episodes have appeared frequently in reruns and have spawned a large, active network of fan clubs.
  
  As the bug-eyed deputy to Griffith, Knotts carried in his shirt pocket the one bullet he was allowed after shooting himself in the foot. The constant fumbling, a recurring sight gag, was typical of his self-deprecating humor.
  
  Knotts, whose shy, soft-spoken manner was unlike his high-strung characters, once said he was most proud of the Fife character and doesn't mind being remembered that way.
  
  His favorite episodes, he said, were "The Pickle Story," where Aunt Bea makes pickles no one can eat, and "Barney and the Choir," where no one can stop him from singing.
  
  "I can't sing. It makes me sad that I can't sing or dance well enough to be in a musical, but I'm just not talented in that way," he lamented. "It's one of my weaknesses."
  
  Knotts appeared on six other television shows. In 1979, Knotts replaced Norman Fell on "Three's Company," playing the would-be swinger landlord to John Ritter, Suzanne Somers and Joyce DeWitt.
  
  Early in his TV career, he was one of the original cast members of "The Steve Allen Show," the comedy-variety show that ran from 1956-61. He was one of a group of memorable comics backing Allen that included Louis Nye, Tom Poston and Bill "Jose Jimenez" Dana.
  
  Knotts' G-rated films were family fun, not box-office blockbusters. In most, he ends up the hero and gets the girl — a girl who can see through his nervousness to the heart of gold.
  
  In the part-animated 1964 film "The Incredible Mr. Limpet," Knotts played a meek clerk who turns into a fish after he is rejected by the Navy.
  
  When it was announced in 1998 that Jim Carrey would star in a "Limpet" remake, Knotts responded: "I'm just flattered that someone of Carrey's caliber is remaking something I did. Now, if someone else did Barney Fife, THAT would be different."
  
  In the 1967 film "The Reluctant Astronaut," co-starring Leslie Nielsen, Knotts' father enrolls his wimpy son — operator of a Kiddieland rocket ride — in NASA's space program. Knotts poses as a famous astronaut to the joy of his parents and hometown but is eventually exposed for what he really is, a janitor so terrified of heights he refuses to ride an airplane.
  
  In the 1969 film "The Love God?," he was a geeky bird-watcher who is duped into becoming publisher of a naughty men's magazine and then becomes a national sex symbol. Eventually, he comes to his senses, leaves the big city and marries the sweet girl next door.
  
  He was among an army of comedians from Buster Keaton to Jonathan Winters to liven up the 1963 megacomedy "It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World." Other films include "The Ghost and Mr. Chicken" (1966); "The Shakiest Gun in the West," (1968); and a few Disney films such as "The Apple Dumpling Gang," (1974); "Gus," (1976); and "Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo," (1977).
  
  In 1998, he had a key role in the back-to-the-past movie "Pleasantville," playing a folksy television repairman whose supercharged remote control sends a teen boy and his sister into a TV sitcom past.
  
  Knotts began his show biz career even before he graduated from high school, performing as a ventriloquist at local clubs and churches. He majored in speech at West Virginia University, then took off for the big city.
  
  "I went to New York cold. On a $100 bill. Bummed a ride," he recalled in a visit to his hometown of Morgantown, where city officials renamed a street for him in 1998.
  
  Within six months, Knotts had taken a job on a radio Western called "Bobby Benson and the B-Bar-B Riders," playing a wisecracking, know-it-all handyman. He stayed with it for five years, then came his series TV debut on "The Steve Allen Show."
  
  He married Kay Metz in 1948, the year he graduated from college. The couple had two children before divorcing in 1969. Knotts later married, then divorced Lara Lee Szuchna.
  
  In recent years, he said he had no plans to retire, traveling with theater productions and appearing in print and TV ads for Kodiak pressure treated wood.
  
  The world laughed at Knotts, but it also laughed with him.
  
  He treasured his comedic roles and could point to only one role that wasn't funny, a brief stint on the daytime drama "Search for Tomorrow."
  
  "That's the only serious thing I've done. I don't miss that," Knotts said.

  Don't know if you'd be interested but my creative writing professor from last semester, journalist for the Chicago Tribune named Achy Obejas, wrote a fantastic article about the Hawaiian music category. She explains it so much better than I ever could why the Hawaiian community is concerned about the narrowness of the Grammy selection process.

  It's an American tradition, a rite of passage. I remember going to my first Superbowl party at the age of five. And yet, I'll confess, football on TV is BORING! Give me a live game any day, it's so much more exciting to see in person. Even a game that pits the best two teams in the NFL together rarely holds my interest. I wonder how crowded the mall will be today?
  
  But then I'd miss the Superbowl commericals and I love them. If advertisers are going to spend millions of dollars to get people to watch them I'll oblige. It's the one time of year I don't mind not muting commercials.
  
  And halftime is usually pretty good, well except for a wardrobe malfunction in the recent past but we won't go there.
  
  So, who watches Superbowl for the game? Anyone else watch it for the commerical? Who are you rooting for? I've been known to occasionally get into the game if it's really good, otherwise I'll read a book. My sports mad neighbors hoot and holler, or groan, and I can figure out the game without even looking up.

  • The DaxFam household has mostly watched the SuperBowls past for the commercials--and there have been some great ones! However, this year, we're rooting for Seattle (since many members of our family live there), so we'll be watching the game as well as the commercials this year. The halftime show never really does much for me--it always seems fake and overblown.     • I was disappointed because as a football fan I expect NFL officials to know what they're doing...and the officials last night blew many calls. I've never been one to say a game was "fixed", but I will say that it sure appeared that the NFL & the media REALLY wanted Pittsburgh to win...it was a perfect story. As a football fan, I was apalled at the calls made. I saw 2 commercials that were funny (both Ameriquest commercials). Other than that, I wasn't very interested. I wasn't interested in the Stones halftime performance to begin with, so I made a snack during halftime. So I didn't even see the show. The national anthem sang by Aaron Neville & Aretha Franklin was horrible, too. Overall I just wasn't very impressed with the Super Bowl this year...lots of disappointments.   Lance Bass and Joey Fatone are saying bye bye bye to boy-bandhood and hello to reality television.
  
  With chances of an 'N Sync reunion looking increasingly slim, the popsters have pinned their hopes to a new UPN project about their lives, billed as an update of The Odd Couple.
  
  
  Tentatively titled Out of Sync, the comedy-reality hybrid will feature Fatone as the slovenly Oscar character, and Bass as Felix, the neurotic neat guy.
  
  
  UPN President Dawn Ostroff said Thursday that the series is in development for the fall.
  
  
  "They came to us," she said. "Joey and Lance are such fun, interesting people and they truly are an odd couple--even if you sit in a room with them, it's Felix and Oscar in many ways."
  
  
  The original Odd Couple was a Neil Simon Broadway show about two men separated from their wives, who move in together, despite their differences. It was later made into both an Oscar-winning film, starring Jack Lemmon and Walter Mathau, and a television series, starring Tony Randall and Jack Klugman
  
  
  It's unclear how closely Fatone and Bass plan to stick to the plot line and whether cohabitation is in the cards. While Bass is still single, Fatone traded vows with his longtime girlfriend, Kelly Baldwin, in September 2004, and is the father of 5-year-old Brianna.
  
  
  Fatone and Bass previously teamed up for the 2001 romantic comedy, On the Line. Fatone also appeared in My Big Fat Greek Wedding and stage productions of Rent and Little Shop of Horrors.
  
  
  Bass, meanwhile, spent a good chunk of his post-Sync days attempting to get himself launched into orbit, a quest that was eventually nixed by Russia's space program.
  
  
  Though 'N Sync has never formally broken up, the band has been on an extended break since Justin Timberlake released his 2002 solo album, Justified.
  
  
  After achieving multiplatinum status on his own, not to mention snagging himself a superstar girlfriend and a handful of film roles, Timberlake is reportedly reluctant to consider a return to boy-bander status.
  
  
  Just don't tell Bass, who remains convinced that 'N Sync will rise again.
  
  
  "It might be five years from now, it might be a year from now, but we will definitely do some more music," he told MTV in June.

  Check out the boss' two new videogame music compositions on the Music for Media page of DaxMusic.com. These demos were developed for submission for a new Activision game, and although these pieces weren't used, the response from Activision was very positive for future music opportunities.

  LOS ANGELES (Billboard) - There was so much legitimate downloading in the final week of 2005 that it recalled the impossible tallies research firms used in the late 1990s to dazzle venture capitalists and scare the daylights out of major-label executives.
  
  In the seven-day stretch between Christmas and the new year, millions of consumers armed with new MP3 players (primarily iPods) and stacks of gift cards gobbled up almost 20 million tracks from iTunes and other download retailers, Nielsen SoundScan reports.
  
  In the process, consumers shattered the tracking firm's one-week record for download sales.
  
  A look inside the numbers shows just how unprecedented a week it was for the download business:
  
  - Before the week ending January 1, 2006, the record for the most downloads sold in seven days was 9.5 million tracks -- set just one week earlier.
  
  - Sales of 20 million songs were almost three times the amount of digital tracks sold in the same seven-day span a year ago.
  
  - Fifteen songs on the current Hot Digital Songs chart surpassed the one-week record for sales of a single track.
  
  - Rap group D4L's "Laffy Taffy" took the top spot with 175,000 tracks sold, more than doubling the mark of 80,500 downloads Kanye West's "Gold Digger" set the week of September 17.
  
  - Each of the top 11 titles on the Hot Digital Songs chart sold more than 100,000 downloads.
  
  For the year, the digital track sales tally reached 352 million -- a 147% increase over 2004's total of 142.6 million.
  
  In comparison to the volume of music that is downloaded through peer-to-peer networks, those numbers may not seem like much. P2P monitoring service Big Champagne estimates that at least 250 million tracks are downloaded worldwide each week from file-swapping services.
  
  But a dramatic rise in the tide of authorized download sales in recent weeks suggests that changes may be afoot in the consumer's relationship to digital music.
  
  The important question for the music business is whether 20 million downloads represents the new baseline for digital track sales. A year ago, a 33% pop in download sales in the week following Christmas permanently raised the bar on weekly download volume by 2 million tracks.
  
  Technology and distribution executives at the major labels are not holding their breath that download sales will now run at a rate of almost triple the 7 million tracks that were being sold on average in December. They say big sales of gift cards are likely creating the current volume of such significant downloads.
  
  Yet gift cards were available in 2004, too. If the market can retain volume gain as it did last year, the numbers are tantalizing. Last year, sales fell by about 20% in the weeks following New Year's; such a drop this year would yield a weekly volume baseline close to 16 million tracks. That would put the download market on pace for sales of 750 million to 1 billion tracks in 2006.
  
  Likely to drive the download business is the fact that the number of iPods and other MP3 players in distribution have exploded in the last year. The Computer Electronics Assn. estimates that MP3 player revenue increased 200% to more than $3 billion in 2005.
  
  Apple claims to have sold more than 30 million iPods to date, but will likely have shipped a total close to that number in 2005 alone.
  
  Research firm NPD Group estimates MP3 player revenue at leading retailers topped $500 million on sales of more than 3.3 million units for the five weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas--a 65% jump in dollar volume from the 2004 holidays. Sales of MP3 accessories were big too, topping $160 million during the five-week period.
  
  NPD figures exclude direct sales of iPods through Apple Computer and online sales.
  
  And for the first time, sales of MP3 players are surpassing sales of personal CD players and CD shelf systems, NPD reports.
  
  "We have definitely moved," says Stephen Baker, VP of analyst services for NPD, "from MP3 players being a computer-oriented product to a consumer-directed product."

  Well, I had a very merry Christmas this year if I do say so myself. :) I am my dad's only child and he goes way overboard when it comes to buying things for me for my birthday & Christmas. He's an awesome dad...always has been. But, I tell him all the time he spends too much on me. But, he says he'd rather spend my inheritance on me now instead of after he's gone. haha But, he has really outdone himself this time. My first surprise was that since we decided not to go to the BAMA football bowl game in Dallas (because we thought it would be cold on New Year's - Murphy's Law b/c it's gonna be in the 70s - 80s...grrr I am NOT happy about that), he told me we will be going to Daytona for the biggest NASCAR race there is...the Daytona 500 in February!! The deal was if I bought the tickets to the race, then he'd pay for the rest of the trip. Of course I bought the tickets immediately! lol So I'll be going to Daytona in February (and Orlando as well - we'll be staying in Orlando the entire time we're there). :) I cannot wait!!!!!
  
  My other surprise was a brand new satellite radio with XM service & a DVD player for my car. My DVD player in my car died a few months ago, so I was very happy to see a DVD player! I've wanted satellite radio for a while, but it isn't something I would have bought for myself most likely...at least not for quite a while. My dad is very technological advanced, so he's always getting me electronic things that I'd probably never buy for myself. haha But, I am really loving the satellite radio. I will still have to listen to regular radio, too, though. Gotta listen to my favorite morning show!
  
  I think the best thing about Christmas for me, though, is spending time with family & friends. There are 40+ of us just on my mom's side of the family, so that is ALWAYS fun. I love getting together with them. And I love "giving" gifts when I actually buy gifts instead of gift cards. haha I did a very good job of buying actual gifts this year and I was so proud. I love to see the looks on their faces when they get something that they really wanted.
  
  Anyway, I just wanted to post about my Christmas. I am just SO EXCITED to be going to Daytona & Orlando!! I haven't been to Orlando in quite some time...3 years ago, maybe? It can't come soon enough! :) Well, I hope all of you here had as great a Christmas as I did and I hope you have an even better New Year!

I was so thrilled to see him perform. I had the priviledge that I sat down with Chris and talked to him. Yes, I had an interview with him. It was so cool. We're gonna do it again soon.   • I just love Christmas time!! I am just about done with my shopping. I have a few gift certificates to pick up and then I will be finished. As for holiday plans we are planning on staying home and cooking a big meal and having some friends and family over :) Christmas Eve we are having dinner with another family. It should be fun!! I have done lots of cookie baking too... I gave a couple of cookie trays as gifts. I love to bake cookies but I gotta say I have had my fill for atleast a little while.   To go along with the 10 year subject.... I have decided to list my top 10 favorite moments with *NSYNC.... see if you remember!
  
  These are in no order, but i will try to save my all time favorites for the top 3............ here we go.....
  
  10. Nominated for "Music of My Heart" , we got to perform at the Oscars and of course got beat out by Phil Collins! But hey the gift basket rocked!!
  
  9.Don't know about favorite but memorable for sure is when we did Saturday Night Live. Growing up watching the show, you dream of actually being on it one day.... when the chance came we had an amazing time. The most memorable part though was when i broke my ankle doing a stupid sketch. Not Bye Bye Bye, but freakin' Super Size It!! LOL But i still had an amazing time playing jokes on the cast with Cheri Oteri (did not spell that right at all!)
  
  8. Detroit, Michigan.... Silverdome. the first stadium we ever played. The moment the lights hit me , saw the sea of people, and heard the noise that came along with it.... i had chill bumps the whole entire show!!!
  
  7. Pleasure Island 1995. Our first ever show together. It was at the beach club during the day.. and thanks to the MMC we actually had fans there! We taped that performance and that is what got us signed to a record company a year later!
  
  6. In 1998 Usher had to jump off the Janet Jackson Velvet Rope tour, and who did she replace him with? Um, us of course...That was our first break to show what we could do live. Thanks Ms Jackson if your nasty!
  
  5. Disney Special. Disney has played a crucial role in our career from day 1. MMC of course helped alot, and then Disney Channel decided they would take a chance on an unknown band for an hour special. After airing the thing 1,000,000 times!!, it catapulted us into the music industry.
  
  4. Tied for #4 is MTV awards 2001... we left with a butt load of moon men and got to perform with Michael Jackson.. and managed to keep it a secret even to MTV until we went live! And it is was VERY hard for me to keep that secret!! Also Superbowl Tampa... I think it was the best half-time show ever! It was not boring at all. Then you add Aerosmith, Britney, Nelly, and Mary J!! Come on!! What a night!
  
  3. The week of March 21, 2000. No Strings Attached released and the rest was history! No way did I think we would sell a million copies in a day and 2.4 mill in a week!   2. Germany 1998.... I Want You Back was released for the first time. I think it was in between Berlin and some other city that we heard our song for the first time on radio! It is something about radio that makes your song sound soooooo much better! We were flipping out and I will never forget that moment! Europe as a whole was amazing to us.. gave us our start and helped us perfect our craft.
  
  Honorable Mention.. lol... HBO Special. One of the most beautifully shot shows of ours.. and gave a chance to broaden our fan base. Everyone was talking about how many Emmys it was going to when HBO ... but in the end it got 0 noms! So that was a very anticlimatic ending.
  
  1. And my favorite moments have been meeting so many people and being able to share this experience with my family and friends. They have enjoyed this just as much as I have. I feel like if i am lucky enough to be able to do what I do... the closest people in my life should be able to enjoy it too. From award shows, to tours... I have enjoyed having my friends and family there every step of the way! And they are the very ones who help me stay who I really am. Thank you!

    • I also love, love, love, love MySpace! It helps me keep in contact with friends, keep up with my favorite bands, and most of all discover tons of new music. I'm always surprised when celebs run their own pages and have contests and reply to messages. I'm not a big Pumkins fan, but one of the first people's blogs I read was Billy Corgan's because he was telling his very personal life story through his page...quite an interesting read! I've recently found BT's page, and enjoy his very open and educated blog writing.   • *Thinking* Well, Lance is wrong. I want you back was first released in Germany in 1996 (!). I think it was in October. It must have been 1996 coz TUMH was released in Feb 1997 and HWG in May. At that tiime they got so much airplay...But there was also a 1998-IWYB- release.     • So, I Want You Back had already been on the air for a year before the "For the Girl" tour in October of 1997? I knew that 'NSync's music was playing on the radio when we were there during that tour, Micha. It was several months later, in early 1998, before we first heard I Want You Back on radio in the US (maybe that's what Lance is thinking about)--and even then it was on one of those late night "battle of the bands" kind of shows, where it had to win the most call-ins against another song to stay on the air. Of course, it won easily, but soon after that the big RCA publicity machine was in full gear and 'NSync, already popular in Germany, was on its way to becoming known in the US. The MMC Concert, which was taped in May 1998 (while Dax was still recovering from jaw surgery) and I think first broadcast in July. That concert helped them enormously, and that fall when they got the Janet Jackson opening gig, the deal was sealed and the rest is history. :-) (NT) -- Lynn, 06:35:54 12/05/05 Mon
      • Yep, it was quite a while on air before the tour. And actually, the "For the Girl" tour was already their second or third tour. They first were on tour as support act with DJ Bobo and then on their own in early 1997 but without band. I must admit that I wasn't a fan of them back then - I started being that around May 1997. But I have some articles and stuff from the very beginning from friends going back to 1996.         • Thanks for the trip down Memory Lane, Micha! I knew that the first tour with the live band was October of 1997, because that was when the boss signed on. They were SO excited to have real musicians backing them, and not just doing track shows like they did for the first year. I also remember how excited everyone was when they saw the plans for that first "big stage" setup. Dax came home after that practice when it was revealed, and sketched it out for us, ramps and all. It was his first bigtime tour too. Now that stage would look so tiny compared to some of the huge productions of their last few tours. It was a sweet, innocent time, before lawsuits and mega-fame (with all the trappings and hangers ons that go with it). I'm really glad we experienced the early part--and the wonder of it all.           • Thanks for sharing those memories you had with the boys especially the opportunity you got was worth it! :) I've always fascinated with how these stage production/tour works! When they had a stadium tour, I got an opportunity to go in SoundCheck Pass (including free tickets... Chris' friends offered it to me) and I was lucky to sit few seats away from the boys and I watched whole the stage production how they were put together. I enjoyed observing the stage.           • I absolutely agree. Those first stage(s) was/were so sweet and tiny. But for me one of the best tours they ever gave. Meaning: it was just all so different from those HUGE productions. Which were fantastic as well of course! I mean, they were one of the reasons why I went to the US to see the shows ;) I am also very, very happy about having experienced those early days. Everything was so different: from stage productions to the guys...Ah, and memories are also a wonderful thing! :) They've come a long way, baby. And so did da boss of course.   • Congratulations Lil! Did you mention your marriage here before? If so, I totally missed it! The weather here is cool in the evenings (50s mostly, but it could reach the 40s too), and it should be in the low 70s or high 60's. I didn't check the weather forecast, though, so you should check it out at weather.com. It's been sunny since we returned from AZ yesterday and pretty nice. Florida weather is very changeable, but even the changes don't last long. A jacket or sweater should be enough--a leather jacket is a good weight. Always bring an umbrella because you never know, but this is our dry season. Hey, I think Dax is playing next weekend, accompanying a vocal student of Jenn McGill's in a talent competition. I'll get more details if you think you might have a chance to see him. Enjoy yourself, and congrats again! Try to go see La Nouba at Cirque du Soleil at Downtown Disney. It's fantastic!         • We had a great time in Orlando. Too bad we only had a weekend but we still managed to go to Magic Kingdom and Epcot. We got to try the Soarin' ride which was a neat experience. Other than that we had a great weather when we were at Magic Kingdom but it rained on Sunday when we were at Epcot. Overall it was a fun trip.   ...if US 5 is a big thing in the US? You know, the new band that Lou Pearlman did bring together, searching in the US and Germany...Over here its nuts, really! The kids are crazy about them (or about Tokio Hotel, a German band who are somehow the opposite of the nice boys from US 5. The fans of the both groups seem to hate each other...).
  
  Anyway, its like a deja vu. I mean, the second video of US 5 is like a remake of I think the song was "Backstreet's Back" if I'm not wrong...you know, the video with Nick as the mummy, Kevin as Jekyll and Hyde and AJ with the pizza on his head. And the debut album is called: "Here we go"...doesn't that remind us of a certain song? :) And of course not to forget: Lou appearing in the videos like he did before.
  
  I just hope those kids in the band (geez, I feel so old when I write "those kids", lol) will have a happy ending...and I must give in I like their current single :)

  • Welcome back, Linda! Yes, I remember you--it has been a long time! What's been going on with you? We revamped the website a few years ago, and we're constantly tweaking it. Be sure and check out the Music for Media page of Dax's website. That's where some of the boss' latest music is posted. He has a couple of exciting new projects in the works currently, but can't discuss them yet. For the last six months, he has been working on breaking into the videogame music business, as well as film-tv composition. This is a very competitive field, filled with extremely talented composers, but Dax's music is being received well and he's making excellent progress.
