[> I would hope that William, with the knowledge of his parents' messed up marriage, would marry for love and have a long, happy marriage. -- TH, 07:17:54 04/21/11 Thu [1]

[> I have this theory- folks who live together before they get married have really crappy odds of staying married. Psychologists say your chances of divorce increase by 50% (that's 50 % more than the already stinky odds) - but I honestly don't know anyone who lived together first and is still married. I have more faith in high school sweethearts - none the less - I'm hoping they're in the 50% who do just fine- it would be nice of the next generation learned from their parents mistake and not repeat them -- chris k, 08:32:55 04/21/11 Thu [1]

[> [> I don't follow the couple at all. Heck they don't follow me, so why should I? I know at least 10 couples off the top of my head who lived together first and have stayed married for a very long time and still going. I'm sure there's a few on the board. I wonder why that is even a statistic. -- Theresa, 11:05:02 04/29/11 Fri [1]

[> [> You know me. My DH and I lived together for six years at a time when it just wasn't done by middle class people. Then we got married Dec. 31 1976, and are still married 34 yrs later. However, I'm not recommending living together casually. I believe in the committment of marriage. As for William and Kate, they appear to be in love, and have not jumped into this. And it clearly isn't an arranged marriage. I watched the wedding and loved it.. -- Cece, 11:54:24 04/29/11 Fri [1]

[> I haven't been following it much, but I do think they are an adorable couple. They seem to be *friends* as well as "in love", so that will hold them in good stead. Charles & Di were never "friends", and their marriage was "coordinated" (if not "arranged"). I hope they have good counselors who are not beholden to royal politics, and share a strong religious faith. Those two things will carry them far. -- The Chief, 21:09:08 04/22/11 Fri [1]

[> I think they are a beautiful couple and really seem to be in love. I think they will make it. It appears that Prince William, in an interview I saw recently, is remembering his mother. I love that he gave Kate, Diana's engagement ring, so his mother wouldnt be forgotten, that she would have her part in their engagement and marriage. I think it speaks well of Prince William that he honors both his mother and his father, in spite of all the bitterness that came before during and after their divorce. Good for him, good for them! -- mkim, 16:35:28 04/25/11 Mon [1]

[> [> I agree, mkim. They make a lovely, loving couple and if they can keep their private life from their public life, I have great faith that this will last. -- jenks, 04:27:35 04/26/11 Tue [1]

[> The wedding was beautiful! Kate looked radiant and Wills looked relaxed and happy. DH and I partied with the street and loved it. People here seemed happy for another day off & an excuse to party, but were pleasantly surprised by how sweet and unprententious the wedding was and it's like it has rejuvenated interest in the royals. OTOH, everyone was so drunk last night and it is eerily quiet on the street this morning, so I may have to wait awhile before I ask them their TRUE opinions. I heard them all till the wee hours. I left at 9:00PMish. The party started right after the 2 kisses! -- mj(boy, can people drink here!), 01:10:07 04/30/11 Sat [1]
