Subject: March 12, 1912 the first Girl Scout troop was formed by Juliette Gordon Low with 18 girls in Savannah, Georgia

Today, 100 years later there are over 50 million Girl Scout alumni in America. From members of Congress, to the world of entertainment, to the offices of corporate America

In additon to the United States the idea of scouting spread to over 145 countries. All members of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts

I am proud to say I became a Girl Scout in 1962 and have been a one ever since. From girl member to camp counselor to troop leader to leader trainer to cookie chairman, I am still enjoying every minute of it.

One thing is true today as it was 100 years ago, Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.

Support your local Girl Scout- buy a box or two of cookies, volunteer a few hours, donate to a local troop, share what you know and do with the up and coming leaders of tomorrow!
