Subject: March Equinox

For those of you in the Northern Hemisphere, spring has arrived and for some of us, it will arrive with a burst of near record high temps. And of course, for those of you in the Southern Hemisphere, it's the beginning of autumn.

So what does the change of seasons mean to you? Do you have a different mental outlook? Any special indoor or outdoor plans (spring cleaning, autumn preparation for winter)?

Any family traditions that you follow this time of year? What was your favorite thing to do as a child when the March equinox arrived and the season changed? I remember that it was always a big childhood thrill to see the first robin in the spring.

[> Well, the robins are here in force, I'm raking til I ache all over and I've picked up the winter's supply of empty peanut shells that took care of the squirrels fat little tummies. I'm, as always, thinking about flowers for the porch boxes, reseeding the back lawn and getting a gate up to keep my little Ryan Matthew in the back yard. Then, of course, there's the lawn and deck furniture that always has to be washed. I always see Spring as work! However, the colder temps will return around Friday...so they say. -- jenks, 07:49:11 03/20/12 Tue [1]

[> Many of the same things as Jenks said. Also, spring cleaning the house. Washing walls, window blinds, summer curtains. Dogs to groomer for spring scrubbing and clippings. Mostly putting up the pool. HEY!! -- Cathy F., 08:10:05 03/20/12 Tue [1]

[> Since I´m living in the city, I have a limited view of nature changing....the little bushes in my garden are getting the first leaves, though the trees outside will take some time still. I´m looking forward to them not looking so naked anymore. Mostly, I enjoy that the sun comes up when I have to get up to go to work and it´s still light out when I go home. Tomorrow, unfortunately, spring will start with a 45min hike from the train station to work, as the subway workers (among others) are on strike.... -- Jam, 11:54:25 03/20/12 Tue [1]

[> My absolute favourite season of the year - autumn, not just because it was the season that I was born in. I love the colour changes on the trees, the fact that it is not stinking hot, but still not cold enough to light the fire (often anyway). Renews my soul. -- Katiegirl, 00:31:13 03/25/12 Sun [1]
