Subject: Cathy, did your heart go into a-fib? If so, sometimes they can control it with medication or if it happens repeatedly, a cardiac ablation can be performed to stop it from coming back ( my brother had one done and it worked like a charm). I don't know anything about pacemakers.
In reply to: Cathy F. 's message, "Well last Tues and this Wed I spent in the hospital with my heart out of sync. I see a Pacemaker in my future. Anyone here have one? What's the scoop?" on 21:21:35 01/12/12 Thu

[> Cokie, it's been going in and out of a-fib for a few years now. They have been controlling it with meds, but that doesn't seem to be working as well anymore. Cardiac ablation? Is that where they stop the heart and restart it? That has been suggested. I'm not real crazy about that idea. They tried that once years ago and it didn't want to start again. -- Cathy F., 22:34:50 01/14/12 Sat [1]

[> [> I think you are talking about Cardioversion. They dont stop the heart they just ramp up the joules and shock the crap out of it to change the rythum. We have done it a few times in the ER. Hurts like heck from what I can tell since you are awake for the procedure. -- TF, 08:27:47 02/04/12 Sat [1]
