Subject: Is anyone else out there fed up with all the early Christmas advertisements on TV? We can't even get through Thanksgiving first.

[> Since we donīt have thanksgiving over here, my cutoff point is usually All Saints day (which is a holiday in this part of the country, although I had to work this year..) but so far, tv advertisements are not all that christmasy. But I do have to say, all the christmas stuff that is already on display in stores is seriously turning me off. Christmas markets are starting earlier this year, too (it used to be 1 week before 1. advent, but now. itīs 3 weeks before that) -- Jam, 05:51:13 11/12/11 Sat [1]

[> Yes, and what's up with Santa arriving Nov 4th at the local mall? Give me a break and pass the drum stick, it's November! -- usmgrad, 05:52:33 11/12/11 Sat [1]

[> The only ploaces I do not mind seeing Christmas stuff early are craft and fabric stores. And that is because if you are making holiday stuff, you need to start early. -- Spud, 06:09:03 11/12/11 Sat [1]

[> I agree! And what I find nearly as bad is Halloween advertising starting in mid-August! Sheesh! That's primarily an eat-candy holiday! -- Deemus, 06:41:02 11/12/11 Sat [1]

[> Here since years we already have the toys, games, the sweets, etc for Christmas since weeks !!! without forget the things to celebrate Halloween. ( yes now since a few years ' we ' celebrate it in my country ) Nonsense ! -- Laurence, 09:42:08 11/12/11 Sat [1]

[> It doesn't bother me. As a church choir member, Christmas starts in September. We've been rehearsing Christmas music for two months! -- JAG Junkie (Ronda)--I need to start decorating this weekend or I'll never be done by Christmas. This is actually a late start for me., 11:05:58 11/12/11 Sat [1]

[> I don't get out enough to notice- what annoys me is when I turn on one of my favorite radio stations and they've got christmas music on - give me a break ! ! ! -- chris k, 16:23:27 11/12/11 Sat [1]

[> [> My radio station started playing 24/7 Christmas music before Halloween. Needless to say I am listening to another station now. -- Hope - before Halloween is just to early, 18:22:04 11/12/11 Sat [1]

[> [> [> One of our locals started playing it today. GRRR. And it's the *SAME OLD TIRED VERSIONS EVERY STINKIN YEAR!* There is SO much Christmas music out there, with more albums coming out every year, you'd think they'd mix in a few new ones once in a while. -- The Chief, 19:27:44 11/12/11 Sat [1]

[> [> now this is totally off the beaten path - but one of the things that burns me with the music is my favorite christmas carol - the only one of two I'd stop and listen to - is Carol of the Bells - but since the jazzed version by Electric whoever has come out a few years ago - they NEVER play the normal version. -- chris k (the other tune they play I like is a peter paul and mary tune - Only know the chorus - one for peter two for paul three for him who made us all - love the tune- don't know the rest of the lyrics- lol, 07:43:27 11/13/11 Sun [1]

[> [> [> I seem to remember, "Soul cake, soul cake, please good missus a soul cake, an apple, a pear, a plum a cherry...any good thing to make us all merry...One (etc). I can't remember the title, although it may just be "Soul Cake." -- Deemus, who loved PP&M, 15:01:55 11/13/11 Sun [1]

[> [> [> I would love to hear George Strait's "Christmas Cookies" song more often, and Amy Grant's "Tennessee Christmas", and a little Boney James every now and then. I am so freakin' sick of Mariah Carey and John Lennon and that awful "classic" version of Little Drummer Boy with the boys choir that's 60 years old..... AARRGGHH!! -- The Chief (I'm going to make some CDs for the radio at my work.), 21:52:49 11/13/11 Sun [1]

How about WhiteHeart's Little Drummer Boy? MUCH better than the boys choir! lol

[> Christmas should not start before Thanksgiving is over. It use to start with the Thanksgiving Macy day parade went Santa arrived at the end in his sleigh. I think all the commercialism has taken the real meaning out of Christmas. The togetherness of family and the birth of our Savior. Now it's all commercials on TV, Radio, shopping and gifts. I've come to hate it. Last year I didn't even put up a tree or a decoration and I may not this year either. I'll attend Mass and celebrate there. -- Cathy F., 08:02:03 11/13/11 Sun [1]

[> I hate that the Halloween candy gets bumped BEFORE Halloween to make room for the Christmas stuff. I am so tired of Christmas by the time it gets here we put our tree away on the 26th. LOL Saw a post on FaceBook the other day where Turket was telling Santa that that he had to wait his turn FATBOY!!! LOL -- TF, 16:11:24 11/13/11 Sun [1]

[> [> I hate that you have maybe 2 days, 3 days tops, to get Halloween candy on sale afterward - it's like they don't WANT to sell it half price! Don't know what they do with all that extra candy in the special Halloween wrappers.... -- The Chief, 22:36:44 11/13/11 Sun [1]

[> For 10 years, I worked at Bucilla (a needlecraft company). We had a saying there, "It's Christmas everyday at Bucilla", since one dept. or another was working on Christmas stuff everyday of the year. Because of this, I learned to kind of just block Christmas stuff out until December. -- mar, 06:23:59 11/14/11 Mon [1]

[> [> Like I said earlier, when you make your Christmas items, gifts, decor, you need to start early or work on it all year. But that is one of the only places to have Christmas stuff out early. I have some of the most obnoxious Christmas material that I am making a dress with. -- Spud, 14:53:31 11/15/11 Tue [1]
