Subject: Cheap decor??

My daughters will be joining us shortly here in Nashville, and we're setting up their rooms with all new things, new beds, decor..the works! (With of course room for all of their familiar things that I moved with me) Anyone know a good place in Nashville to get cheap decor for their rooms? I have a really girly one, and one that isn't girly whatsoever!

[> [> ITA! They have nice 'basic' things, in solid colors that will allow your daughters to make their rooms their own, when they arrive. It might help them transition if they have a small role in how the rooms are finished. I like the Craigs list and flea market ideas too. The girls might really have fun, picking up the electic stuff you can find there. Good luck kiddo. I know youre anxious to have them with you. -- mkim, 10:28:38 07/12/11 Tue [1]

[> [> [> It was torture to have them away from me, but we survived it. We decorated to the nines but gave them room to fill in the more flashy spaces. Cynthia now has bright blue LED lights around her room (which I allowed because they don't get hot at all), and a disco ball, and Anna chose a ballet wall picture and a some frilly accessories. If you're on my facebook, take a look! -- Theresa, 22:44:31 08/06/11 Sat [1]

[> I love getting things on craigs list - you can get the small stuff at target or walmart but sometimes you can get the higher dollar stuff on craigs list - My daughter is a fan of all things leopard - I picked up smaller leopard accessories like a lamp and cushions and picture frames at stores - but I bought a great 5 x7 rug for 20 dollars on craigs list - -- chris k, 17:20:45 07/11/11 Mon [1]

[> See if there's a "Home Goods" - it's more designer stuff but at discount prices. Like TJMaxx but only for housewares. -- The Chief, 22:30:00 07/11/11 Mon [1]

[> I know I'm not American, but I've an idea ( it's what we do in my family ) : flea - markets, second hand dealer, auctions and even waste collection center, friends who don't want anymore their stuff, in my country we also have Emmaüs... many places, where we can have stuff at a lower and even a very lower price or even for nothing.Or if you prefer to go to shops I was ready to tell you ' Habitat ' or ' Roche Bobois ' but I'm not sure if you've them in your country or for a cheaper price ' Ikea'. -- Laurence ( I hope it's ok than I post an answer ...), 04:12:17 07/12/11 Tue [1]

[> [> Using these decor resources is why my house is decorated in 'early attic''. Very homey and lots of great memories of donors -- mostly from family members when they downsize. Have now been in my house for 30 years. Now, who would know your daughters' taste better than you, their Mom. Have fun with the project -- am sure the girls will love whatever you 'create'. -- carramor, 12:10:22 07/14/11 Thu [1]
