(She had a soft expression on her face that was all at once motherly and sisterly.. she felt like she was looking into the blushing face of herself a mere five years earlier when she too had fallen under the spell of a braw man. She laughed at her mentioning the loss of her singlehood, nodding and toying with a string on her shirt that was loose.) If I didna know better, I'd swear I was talkin to myself.. I was desperately in love the moment that rake in there laid eyes on me.. (She said with an affectionate tone, tearing the string off of her tee and dropping it to let it flutter in the wind. A teasing expression crossed her features as her eyes met Mairah's again.) I'll bet with a braw lad like that yer itchin to get him alone again, aye? (He took the lighter and the cigar and leaned on the back of the sofa as he indulgently took a hit from the expensive cigar, letting out the fragrent smoke as he listened to Loch, his own eyes growing a bit dark with anger.) I know all about the agents, I helped them save one of their own.. I need to get back in contact with them now that I have Mairah safely here. (He said, though a bit of shame and pain entered his eyes at Loch's veiled warning.) He already did take a liking to her, I was stupid and thought if I let him think I was still working for him and just harboring the lass out of a need to please him that I could snare him for the american agents.. it backfired horribly. (He sounded like a man who believed he was a failure then, for a moment, as he looked down at the glass of scotch on the edge of the wet bar and remembered their first night together..)
