The President showed strong leadership in this latest "crisis." He said he would not negotiate with hostage takers and he didn't. He said he would talk to anyone anytime, but not when radicals are holding the people's government and our economic welfare as bargaining chips. The republicans (not all of them) were making demands but not any concessions while running around with a deceptive message that the president and democrats wouldn't work with them. It is childish and un-American for a minority party in the federal government to say give us what we want or we will intentionally inflict damage on our country. Childish for obvious reasons and un-American because of the disrespect they've shown for our representative democracy. The "will of the people" doesn't come from media, or polls, or a politician's deceptive statements; it comes from the people electing their representatives. Democrats have control of the senate and the presidency. So the idea that republicans should be able to advance their ideological agenda without making a single concession themselves is just a sad joke. No matter your political affiliation, we should all see this as a destructive way to attempt to "govern."
