I have been a lifelong Dearborn County resident. And I very rarely post replies but this one caught my attention. I ran over a board (with nails) on SR 48 which caused my car tire to go flat with no AAA and my husband in Florida on business I did not know who to turn to. So I called 911 they said that their officers were all out directing traffic because the traffic lights had went out on US 50, but they would get someone to my aid as quickly as possible. It was an off duty Lawrenceburg Policeman that came to my aid and changed my tire for me. He said he was just driving by and even though he was off duty it was his obligation to render assistance if he was in his Police vehicle. I will never forget his kindness, he changed my tire followed me to Goodyear because my spare was dry rotted went inside and talked to the salesman and got me the best possible deal he could. I am not very mechanically inclined, he must have picked up on that. Anyways long story short, off all the monies spent on this and that the Police Departments should never be left behind behind in my opinion. Make cuts else where's but leave our Police on the streets on or off duty just let them alone. It PROVES to be a huge huge benefit for our rural community.
