Alan Miller and Mr. Gardner say non violent offenders should not be housed in the jail and placed on a community corrections type of confinement. Look at what happened last week. Several innocent Dearborn County citizens fell victim to a supposed, "non-violent" offender from Nebraska that escaped and walked away from a low level community corrections type confinement. William Gajdik did not have a violent past however he had a fairly long record of non violent crimes that lead to his sentence to low level security program to probably save their taxpayers a few bucks. Think about it, it's the truth. If this guy would have been locked up in a prison instead of on whatever other cost cutting punishment they gave him we would not have had him running around our county with a gun and later shooting and critically injuring one of our citizens. I'll pay a few extra dollars to know these people are behind bars and the crime will stay down. If I wanted to live in the "catch and release" program I would move to Hamilton county or Ohio. Everybody keeps asking for it, and when it comes we will be sorry.
