Subject: I actually love a good thriller, and at least, this movie is a 'made-for-TV' one and not in the category of some movies that he's made that were supposed to hit the big screens, but haven't even made it to TV, let alone DVD. Tney just seem to be in limbo.I know the genre is questionable and the premise is overworked, but maybe this will turn out to be slick and fresh in SOME way -- I so hope so for him. inside for my take on DJE's career.
In reply to: Theresa 's message, "Check this out!!" on 12:14:20 03/08/10 Mon

I'm super puzzled. When I look at some of the 'A-listers' with tremendous roles, I can't help but think that DJE would've been much better in this or that role. He's got better looks, more appeal, more 'watchability' than several male actors who are cast in movie after movie, great role after great role. I never saw any of his early Canadian work. His acting in JAG was superb. He nailed that part and now that I'm FINALLY seeing the first seasons, I can see how his acting and whole screen presence, IMO, got better and better as the years rolled by (with the exception of maybe a few episodes in last 2 seasons where it came through a bit that he was tired of the character, perhaps other 'stuff' going on and this I felt BEFORE I knew about other 'behind the scenes stuff'). He was also quite good in the little we got of him in CTH. As much as I cringed at his role in the sex addict movie -- he did show that he can play 'sleazy' quite well, not that I'd like to see him again in such a role. I loved him in HA. What I've seen of his early 'quirky' roles in earlier films looked really great, but I concur that the role in The Shrink Is In, was horrible. I thought it really debased his talent and standing in the industry, let alone making a caricature of his magnificent looks and body.
I thought he was good in TSIM. I haven't seen or heard much more about RT, Gooby, and I haven't seen KOB, but my sister told me it was a disaster. I haven't seen any of his other TV movies.
I DID see Impact and I have to say, I laughed -- actually laughed at some scenes. He was 'ok' -- didn't shine in it. I think it's perfectly fine for him to take these temporary guest-starring roles in GOOD TV shows. That keeps the public AND TPTB aware that he's still around, still available, versatile and talented, and still handsome and extremely watchable.
I don't know if his mediocre choices are a result of not really wanting the great roles and going after them, not needing to work, or not being considered as an A-class choice by TPTB in Hollyweird. I think he has it in him, he just needs to have the galaxies aligned to get the chance to show it again. I certainly would LOVE to see that happen for him and I would LOVE to see him again in something spectacular and I think he would blow away audiences again -- even people who don't know him from JAG need to see and appreciate this wonderful actor.

[> [> I. completely disagree. He's a mediocre actor at best and. imo hasn't grown at all over the years and his work since then is a testimont to this. and alot of his stuff isn't even seen or picked up. And thg stuff that is seen tanks ratings wise. Like others said he's desperate and his career seems to be going nowhere. -- Sue, 11:01:43 03/09/10 Tue [1]

[> [> [> [> If you say so, Chief. As for me, I don't like this kind of movie, but I might try to watch it just because he's in it. Every actor takes on roles like this from time to time, even my other fav, Pierce Brosnan has done it. -- nancyeddy, 11:53:59 03/09/10 Tue [1]
