- I think that if anyone can make the story convincing it's DJE. He is flexing his muscles a little. I like the Sci Fi channel and while sometimes it can at first seem silly, I think that this one is going to be very good. As for "bloodsteel", I guess they just needed to come up with some exotic sounding name to make it interesting. After all, they couldn't just call it "goop", right?       - I know, I just wanted to be sure that my comments were misconstrued. I've always disliked the idea of dismissing someones work before they even get a chance to see it. - Another synopsis said that his character was seeking revenge for the killing of his family, and that sounded good - as we know from JAG, he plays that intensely focused out-for-vengeance emotion very well. But this latest synopsis sounds like a rather silly "dragons and warlords" rehashed plot. And it sounds like he's a little old for this part, but maybe there'll be more information coming out to clarify the background of his character. - I'm with several of you on this. The contents don't really get to me yet. Oh, the idea of DJE on horses, dressed as a knight, conquering the world to take revenge of his murdered family appeals to me but dragons and bloodsteel?! I see a mix of Gladiotor, Dragonheart and Brave Heart here and that frightens me (not movies I really liked). But, it's DJE so I sure would love to see it. His co-star is so-so. Could be his daughter and doesn't have the 'look'. All her movies didn't appear to be big hits either. And she is his romance interest??? More like an observation, really, but anyway...

In DJE's last TV role as 'Rick' in "Love Sick", did anyone else notice how hard it was to read 'Rick's' expressions?

One of the things I've always loved about DJE's acting is that he could convey so much, without saying a word.
Even when he portrayed 'Terry' in TSIM I always could read him, even when he scared me(smile)

Was it just me? Or was I not looking too closely because I didnt like the character...

OR it could have been that I was so distracted by the shirtless scenes that I couldnt think straight.(LOL)

What do you all think?

- It's me again, mkim (I'm still on lunch so I have the time now, LOL). I think that we couldn't read his expressions because the character was emotionally crippled. What I mean by that is that he had this addiction which was about getting the fix not the emotional relationship.   - That's probably true, DaniR, I think its just hard for me to imagine that there are people walking around in this world who are really that 'empty'. - Yeah - I agree mkim. It's difficult to show emotion in a character that's pretty shallow to begin with. Although I did think the expression on his face when he came home to find his 'girlfriend' there talking with his wife was pretty good - you could pretty much read "What the hell are you doing here?" all over his face LOL.     - I think he was a very guarded character because of all the lies he'd told. Sally Pressman's character certainly wasnt the first woman and I'm sure she wouldnt have been the last. I think the idea was that he was a great looking package and she imagined she needed him and that he needed her but it wasnt true, there wasnt much behind that leer to hold on to, and I think even if he had been 'deeper' she wouldnt have stayed exculisvely with him.   - I agree DJE has great depth in his acting ability and he was definitely great eye candy. IMO, I chose to look at "Rick" as one who was so addicted that he was looking for the thrill of the affair/sex not for a relationship. H/E on some level he was concerned with his marriage and was afraid that it would be messed up when his girlfriend showed up. In a way I guess you could say that the acting was very good because he made us believe that "Rick" was a shallow empty person. Not at all like we are used to. JMO of course. - Part of being a good actor is the ability to portray subtle emotions and moods etc. Yes, I could read his face. If I had not been able to read him, then he wouldn't have been doing a good job as an actor. Remember, the actor isn't really feeling these emotions, so it would be pointless to not show us. The trick is to show the audience, while leaving the other characters, seemingly oblivious. DJE portrayed very well, an unlikeable, shallow, jerk, who only had his good looks going for him.   - I think I know what you mean. I could read some things, but I suppose he meant to make this guy unreadable. I never saw hijm in his earlier roles,(Dark Justice and The Hitchhiker) when he portrayed men who were really evil deep down. Maybe I just dont recognize it when I see it. - I thought he did a great job with the part. He seemed just like so many good looking men I've known who turn on the charm when they want something. When I can believe that he's an oily character after so many years of Harm-- well that's good acting, and I agree with Dani-- not being able to read his expressions was the perfect way to portray a closed off and unable to really connect in meaningful ways. - Want to be sure that my questions weren't seen as a criticism of DJE's acting abilities, I was just puzzled by this character, and I saw him very differently than DJE's other roles. I know we discussed the movie before, but it more about the shows main character, not 'Rick'. Just wanted to get everyones take on it and their reaction to this type of character. The Rainbow Tribe at Film Festival -- SeaBeth, 14:41:57 07/17/08 Thu [2]

The Rainbow Tribe is going to be shown at the Rhode Island International Film Festival on Tuesday Aug. 5. Here is a description from the film festival website:

A while ago I found a posted message about roles that would fit HAE in the past movies history. Last night I watched Birdman of Alcatraz and I thought that now that he is aging he would be perfect for this role, so intense. More, I thought MAE should be Stella as well.   - Mary of the many # has started me on reading Janet E.'s books. I still have all of them to go (I am only on number 1) but I couldn't agree with you more. With a minor adjustment (i.e., eye color) I think that both HAE and MAE would do great with those parts. Tight situations, great banter, not to mention yummy character description (esp. Only episode eight is missing. The eps were posted by two different people so you need to look . Five are on the bottom right of the page. The other two you need to look at the top of the comments section for the person who posted eps 2 & 3. You need to download free software to watch the full episodes but it was easy and free. Well, I met him last evening and had about a ten minute conversation, with him before he took his supper break with Stephanie in his trailer. what I find so devastating, despite the hug and the kiss on the cheek, is that the two pictures that were taken of us, did not come out on my camera, AND I did not check them until I was back in my car and there was no hope of getting a "redo".
WAAAAAAAAAAAH!

  - The fact that he told you he had run around Stanley Park may be indicative that his knee has improved. Perhaps, not to marathon standards but enough for him to continue his running regime to some degree. I just noticed that the release date for The Rainbow Tribe on IMDB has been changed to Aug. 21 2008. I'm not sure what that means exactly since most movies are released on Fridays, and the 21st is a Thursday. I have been discreetly (like any good Canadian, LOL) haunting a few of the sets for the mini series, Impact. So far have not been able to see DJE on set yet. However, have chatted with quite a few helpful persons, including the producer of the series. He seemed quite impressed with my zeal and perserverence to my mission. Even gave me his business card to give him a call when I get back from my cycling trip in France and "no promises" but said he would try and set something up for me to meet him.
