  • I saw it, and do you know whar I noticed?? I mean, besides the obvious.(how omg gorgeous dje is) His voice....he sounds so young to me. • Okay guys. Here's the situation. My roommate was dying of cancer and because of the situation, the television was always on to the shows she loved. So I never got to see the second season of Close to Home. Now I would like to get to see the shows. If any of you guys have them taped on vhs or dvd, I would like to get copies. I would be willing to supply the discs/tapes, and of course the postage, and would be willing to pay for your time. Can anyone possibly do this for me.     • If you are referring to the screencaps, DJE was only in the first episode very briefly, sitting in the dark, so there are just 2 very dark screencaps with him in them. • I watched the Guard last night, and it is such a dark themed show. -- Cece, 12:35:08 02/13/08 Wed [17]
  I guess you could call it an action soap opera. By that I mean no disrespect. I'm really enjoying the show. The characters have the usual complicated lives, but they are really messy. They are not in any way "cutesy" as in GA, for example.
  
  They get tired and look tired. When they are professional, they look the part. Their relationships seem real.
  
  Although it's hard to see DJE so ill, his character is really likable. When he is in pain, you can see the pain, and see the awkwardness. But dang....he still looks gorgeous. There's just no getting around that.
  
  The problem is, he expects to die and his main problem is leaving his daughter behind. He wants his girlfriend to look after her (actually, he kind of proposed to her last night, so they might be officially engaged.)
  
  Sigh, I'm going to miss seeing him in the show when his episodes are over, but I will keep watching as I'm enjoying the unusual premise of the show, not to mention I want to support local productions.
  
  I want to see DJE in his own show, but I just don't see him as hungry enough for a regular season part. Ten years of JAG has made him want to spend more time with his family, which is admirable. Better to play havoc with your career than with your family stability, particularly if you don't need the money. Too bad for us though.

  • I haven't seen the show since I live 'south of the border,' but I've see clips of DJE's parts in the episodes. "David" and "Laura" have really good on-screen chemistry, I think.     • I agree Lee they do have a good chemistry, just a very different chemistry from Harm and Mac. "David" and "Laura" don't sizzle in the same way that Harm and Mac do. They have more of a calm, comforting relationship, where Harm and Mac sizzled with just a look.   • I've been lucky enough to see the clips of David from the ForDJE board and am also enjoying his character. He is the complete package gorgeous and can act. I think that he took this part because it was interesting, he could spend time with his family and still put himself out there. I think DJE will eventually get back to his own show, but I think that he wants to prove that he can carry a range of characters, however, so far his characters have all been fundamentally like Harm, charismatic, honorable, strong, weak and human.   • The thing about DJE's acting is that he does it so well, the characters are so believable. As much as I don't like to see him playing a sick "David", you actually believe it is so and it makes me sad. Even if they don't find a magical cure for MS to keep him on or find out he was misdiagnosed, I too will enjoy the roll for as long as he is on.     • what surprised me is that he's known her for two years and yet his MS is so bad. I recently discovered that two women I know both have MS and have had it for years.   • Yeah - I agree Cece. I think though, the thing you don't get from just seeing the clips that David is in, is that the show is really dark. I don't mind dark at all, but although I do enjoy it so far, if I had a complaint it would be that the characters are just too heavy.   How can we get a lobby or motion started to propose DJE as the next James Bond? I think he'd be perfect and a lot hotter than the current 'troll' who's 007. I know DJE's American/Canadian accent might be an issue, but he can master, I think, a very nice, sexy, Scottish brogue, considering his Scottish heritage and he looks very Scottish (a la Sean Connery). I mentioned somewhere else that I would love to see him in a kilt on-screen (especially on a windy day!!!). Anyhow, I know no-one in 'the industry' (except my nephew who lives in CA and who, honestly, I think is involved with producing porn films!)and I don't live in the States (haven't for 22 years), so does anyone 'out there' know how these things work? Can a fan club be so bold and influential in proffering such an idea for TPTB? What do you all think? Wouldn't it be lovely? to see our guy in such a role?! And I do think he would 'dig it' himself!

  • I have no idea about the kind of influence should play in favor of this "vision". But I'd like seeing DJE as JB. Personally, I think the only JB worthing was Sean Connery. I also think DJE could be different from all we saw but, cavoli, he *could* play the character and be great! I think the actors actively pursue the role, when it comes up, and I don't know if DJE and his agents have done that.   Haven't heard anything about the new show The Guard.. Can someone enlighten me please? Also what happened to series Close To Home that DJE was in? Lost track of it.. On a side note, which JAG episode had the gang at some bar singing (sort of) "What Becomes Of The Broken Hearted"? I just bought season five on DVD at Target on sale for like 37.00! I don't own any of the others yet.. Any suggestions on where to obtain Seasons 1-4 for cheap? (Or at least not full retail?) Thanks! Miss the show deeply.. And the camaraderie that went with it..

  • CBS canceled "Close to Home" at the end of last season. "The Guard" is a Canadian TV show and, unless you live in Canada, you can't see it. DJE plays a man who was into extreme sports, but who has now developed MS. I think he is slated to be in five or six episodes. fordjefans.com also has a lot of information about the show.   • I live in Canada. Two episodes of The Guard have been shown. He was only in the first one for a few minutes. The scene was very dark so we couldn't see much. This may be hard to do, but I'm going to ask you anyway.

What is your favorite Non-Harm DJE role?? (I think we're going to need an acronym so we don't have to type that every time... NHDJER, or NHR for short!)

I'm going to have to say Christopher Paget in "Degree of Guilt". DJE makes such an impressive lawyer, and Paget is not only "the best" (in the world of the story), but he's also a flawed character who is trying to do his best to walk the straight and narrow now. If you read the novels (Degree of Guilt and Eyes of a Child, by Richard North Patterson), you discover that Paget and Mary Carelli (mother of their son) got away with telling a few whoppers in a Senate hearing about the time their son Carlo was conceived. In the movie, Paget is trying to keep that part of him, those actions and that "easy way out" way behind him. He struggles. But he does the right thing. There are even moments in the movie when you suspect him of being the bad guy, but then you learn WHY he's been clamming up instead of telling the truth, and you love him even more than before you thought you suspected him.

Anyway, GREAT movie. I think it's out on DVD somewhere if you don't have it. And it's got one of the BEST unintentional come-on lines ever!! Let's say it all together, shall we??

• James Dodson in ‘Dodson’s Journey’. I loved this character; he was gentle and deep. There was so much emotion just below the surface, and I loved how he interacted with the little girl who played his daughter. Even though he was more ‘quiet’, there was a wonderful range of emotion, from loving an supportive, to funny and comical, to intellectual deep, and angry to satisfied and settled. • Degree of Guilt is a definite favorite, but as far as "range of acting", I think TSIM was excellent - from a loving husband and father to a man in turmoil after his accident having to deal with the injuries and lose of memory as well as his families' reaction to him. • I'm going to go against the tide here(who me?)and say his role as Terry Evanshen on the Lifetime movie The Stranger I Married,is my favorite so far. I really liked Degree of Guilt, but I just didnt see the depth that I saw with his portrayal of Terry. I couldnt believe the range, the things he made me see about this character, without his saying a word. It was said, somewhere that this was his leading lady's movie, I definitely beg to differ. • I"ll add my vote for his role in Dodson's Journey. Degree of Guilt was excellent, too, but I like D'sJ better. I watched TSIM, but probably won't watch it again, not because DJE didn't do a good job--he was fine--but because the story wasn't well done, IMO. For one thing, it pressed too much into too little time, and the huge jumps of time were confusing. Second, the female lead just wasn't believable (to me) as his wife. She was an excellent actress, but DJE looked so much younger than she did that it was hard for me to buy into the story line. • Well, for something that showcases his range of acting abilities, TMWLH (or TSIM, whichever title you want to go by) is definitely the one. That being said, it's not really the type of movie I'm going to watch over and over. So for my favorite NHR that I like to indulge in, I have to say DoG. It's really a great movie in and of itself, not to mention we get to see him shirtless, more than once! It has great love scenes, a young Mae Whitman (Chloe), and it's almost 4 hours long! • I watched Degree of Guilt last night. I was alone at home. I liked it, a few scenes in particular: when Terry and Christofer are in bed at night and she has a nightmare, the first we see. They both wake up and he answers that he doesn't doing well, keep thinking about what they have, what they think they have.   • I also consider this role the most challenging for DJE and his acting was outstanding. It tore my heart seeing him cry as he told his wife to let "Terry" die, so he could live. Btw, the actress who played Lorraine was good enough in my opinion, but not all the time.
