She, apparently, has feelings for him and -- perhaps -- may be reading too much into their relationship. She obviously has a wealth of knowledge either in her head or at her fingertaps and knows more about JB than Mac does, and it's probably for her librarian like knowledge awareness that JB keeps her around.
