Hi Glen.
That is the first time I have heard that Capt Detmers had ever written a book. I have always read that he remained silent till his death. I remember in 49 talking to the wharfies in Freemantle, who said [Rumour or not] that He had told his crew on pain of death not to speak one word about what happened. When their lifeboats were found on the beach, the Aussies were said to have found a lifebelt from the Sydney with bullet holes in it, and it was always suspected that the Kormoran had been oiling a Jap sub, and we know what those bastards were capable of.
cheers Des
