You are quite correct in what you say, but after your leave was up you could also draw on the Poggie, which combined with the "pool" money payed a few bills.Also if you lived out of town (in my case Leeds and on the Goole pool) you did not have to report every day, but could phone in, the trick was to "phone In"as late in the day as possible, then all the "Manning" had been done, worked for a whiletill you got that dreaded telegram
