  • I wish there could be a consignment type room for boys costumes as well at NANS. I have so many vests, pants, shirts, some barely worn, but it will take over my life if I post them individually on MB. Need someplace to display them and kids could try them on. What do you think--area of consignment room for boys? How much to pay to consign? -- just an idea, 10:15:10 06/19/09 Fri [2]

Probably would be back if not for the negative impact of that song "The Scottsmans" eh?

Certainly kilts would give the judges a better look at what the knees ( and how crossed over or not ) and lower feet are doing.

    Good luck all!

  • Novice/PW Shirt and Vest Search??? (see inside) -- DS Mom - Know the search can be frustrating!, 12:14:57 06/01/09 Mon [7]
I just got back from Burlington Coat Factory and saw lots and lots of bright, colorful, patterned and/or contrasting shirts and a few vests (waist coats). These look to be after Easter leftovers. I've looked here before but never saw this many.

In case you get there and they don't have the selection or you don't have a Burlington, search the internet for these brands: Georgio Bissoni, Sean John, Kani Gold, Happy Fella and Young Kings by Steve Harvey. Kani Gold had some great colors! For the less daring, there are lots of shirts, at reasonable prices that will appeal to just about everyone.

No, I do not work there, I was just so happy to see some choices, I wanted to share!!!!!

    Good luck!!!

  • Stuck at home for Worlds? -- Ally and Nic, 06:41:17 04/01/09 Wed [1]
We here at I Heart That! Dance are too :( Lucky for us, journalism graduate student and Irish dancer S.J. will be there writing for the Irish Times and Hornpipe.net so she's going to be sending back regular updates via the website Twitter AND posting daily on our blog!

    http://iheartthatdance.blogspot.com

S.J. has posted her bio on our blog already, and if you scroll on down the page we've added some instructions on how to sign up for Twitter (it's easy!) as well as hopefully answered some common questions about how to keep your account protected. You can also read S.J.'s original post on DDN here:

    http://www.dance.net/topic/8088880/1/Irish/Want-Worlds-updates-Follow-me-on-Twitter.html

Feel free to post comments on S.J.'s posts on our blog -- we do moderate them so they won't appear immediately. But we'd love to hear from you -- feel free to post good lucks, congratulations and to let S.J. know if you'd like to hear about something in particular! We're also happy to add YOUR photos if you email them to us, but note that we don't identify dancers unless specifically instructed to.

GOOD LUCK to all the guys competing at Worlds and safe journey to those folks travelling!

  • Just listed several pairs of boys reel shoes on the used shoe message board. Size 6 1/2, size 7, and size 8. These are the Capezio reel shoes with the Hy Tech heels that Rutherford's sell. (These are in UK sizes by the way). $45 each pair, includes shipping within the U.S. They are still in very nice shape, heels and tips still fine; son just grew out of them quickly. -- Reelshoeseller, 16:36:02 03/10/09 Tue [3]

  • So let's be honest here about ID and the stages for girls versus the boys -- keep it real, 15:18:51 03/07/09 Sat [8]
Given the expensive nature of Irish dancing and the relative number of girls versus boy competitors who is surprised that the girls get and deserve a larger venue?

If someone is claiming that the stage square footage (floor space) given to the boys is inadequate for a high level dancer then that's one thing. I don't hear anyone saying that.

I am just not understanding this issue ... it does not seem to be an issue.
